If it felt like it could really be our year and there was a good enough player available, of course I'd consider it. But that's just not the reality for this team this season.

both are. they're the future in edm. heck edm might even let nurse walk down the road, but unless you're giving a younger player of equal value/potential, this trade is an easy no. if barrie was 22, sure

Anything you're getting (pick or prospect) is years away and is probably only ammunition for Dubas to be aggressive in the offseason, which would be the only reason I'd think about dealing Barrie. Plus I hate him and he stinks.</div></div>

Fun ACGM with the Market set
I am not going to comment on the specifics of your deal, because I think your description outlines that this is just a rough sketch type of situation. I will say though that if the Leafs could acquire a pick and a 1st for Barrie, they should 100% do it. I think he'd be good on a team like Vegas, where they have the defensive systems, and defensive-minded defenders to support him in a way the Leafs cannot. As for Evan Bouchard, I think the Oilers are being extra cautious with him, because of what happened with JP, but they have Philip Broberg, and this is the year for them to do something significant. It may not be Kapanen, but I think Evan Bouchard is definitely in play, whether Oilers fan can accept that, or not, is a different story. Finally, Andreas Johnsson. In theory it'd be nice to see what his market value is, but you have to see his injury recovery through 100% first.

Group Opinions for MIN Firesale
Lol I just posted a pretty similar Carolina trade. It makes so much sense to move Dumba or Brodin there. Also, Soucy should be with Brodin on the RD 2nd pair, they play so well together.
I think Calgary probably accepts, but they need a right shot wing more than a left shot wing. I kind of want to see how Galchenyuk blends with this team before we flip him. He has been in Minnesota rumors for years stemming back to his Montreal days.
Boston probably declines, but I do think Staal has a lot of value right now and he'd be great there.

I didn’t realize that the Wild has so many NMC/NTC, that really hampers a team trying to rebuild. I think only Tampa would have more of those players

Not that i disagree, but he only cost a 4th because our dum dum gm accepted hunwick as a cap dump as well.

No, just be sellers at the deadline. It takes time for defense to develop so give Dahlin and Joker another year. Team has a lot of bad contracts expiring this summer and should have a top 10 pick as well (solid chance they can jump right into the line up if its top 5). Cozens should be ready and might be able to play 2C, Mitts should improve but can maybe be traded. UPL should be able to make the jump next year or the year after. Patience is a virtue and making haste irrational decisions will only hurt the team long run.
I do think the team should try and move a RD. Also look for a RHW and a LD for the 2nd pair

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DocArin0</b></div><div>i figured Frost should get a bigger return but at the same time. with the rumors of what NYR asking for Georgiev and what i perceived Buchnevich to be worth (Aprox a 2nd) As an outsider looking in Center depth seemed expendable due to the potential to run Couturier,Giroux & Hayes down the middle being able to get a 3rd line UFA in the summer if needed to move Hayes up the lineup. I dont see a Future with Frost on the Flyers down the middle for at least 3-4 years not due to Frosts ability but more the pure depth of high skilled players at Center.</div></div>
Giroux prefers to play LW at this point. He’s playing Centre out of necessity.
Ideally we run
Frost
Coots
Hayes
Laughton
Patrick can play 3RW if he returns

Calgary Deal- No--- not enough of a return
Carolina Deal- About right
Rangers deal- Nope..... Georgiev isn't worth Duclair... may be for only the 2nd round pick but.. the sens don't need a back-up
Boston Deal-YES!! One more 1st round pick in a deep draft . Plus the cap hit would help the sens reach the cap floor next year ( cap hit : 6 000 000$ real cost: 4 000 000$)

Oh for sure. He'd be a good guy to have in the room, even if he doesn't play every night. Not like they need the cap space. Plus it's a high cap hit with low salary paid which gels with what Ottawa would be looking for.

Nylander bros and a dman your thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DocArin0</b></div><div>I understand and 100% agree with all the pints you made; however, I am a leaf fan of the mind that nothing we do this season in trade will make a big enough difference to change our lack of defensive defencemen talent. I am off the mindset that TOR does one thing better then anyone else & that’s kill people with offence. It may not be pretty but it’s worked and been fully embraced by Keefe. I have no problem getting guys like Gustafson. We need real NHL talent when everyone is healthy. No offence to the bottom pair we have now in TOR but in 90% of teams in the NHL they are either in the AHL or are a 7th man that plays 10-20 games a year</div></div>
TO is going to outscore teams more often than not at 5v5 even with the lineup they have now. Muzzin is back next week, and that will probably mean Sandin gets sent down. I would take Muzzin, Dermott and Marincin (a defensive defenceman, although not the greatest but fine in a pinch) over Gus all year long. I'd take Sandin over Gus forever, where would he fit? Why would it ever be worthwhile to get him for him to be #6 on our depthchart for only LHD. Marincin is a good depth guy to have and honestly with how many minutes the 4th line gets some games, I'd rather run 7 defenceman and keep Marincin in the lineup to kill penalties. He's extremely good at that.

ANA as Sellers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>Manson has a unique skill set for an NHL D-man. He's big, strong, hits, blocks shots, and fights, but is also extremely mobile. Is he amazing at everything? No. Does he have flaws? Yes. However, he's still a solid top 4 D-man and has previously looked comfortable as a #2 alongside Lindholm. All players look less impressive when the team is struggling and Manson is no different.
Look, we're not selling low on Manson to help you out. We're short of D-men on the RS and, whilst Manson hasn't been great this year, he's worth more than a pile trash and we'd need a solid replacement. You're overrating kids that haven't stepped onto an NHL ice. It's all well and good scoring points against kids, but we've seen literally hundreds of kids look good at the junior and even AHL level and then do jack at the NHL level. Giving up Manson and taking on Sandin/Liljegren has a risk associated with it. That comes at a cost. It's up to you whether you want to pay it, but that's the cost.
P.S. We traded Montour, a worse player than Manson for a 1st + Guhle. Guhle may not be as impressive as Sandin or Liljegren, but Manson is worth more.
Disagree, Muzzin was a 2nd pairing D-man in LA behind Doughty, whilst Manson plays top pairing for us alongside Lindholm. Manson is also younger, signed longer, on a cheaper deal and plays RS. He's worth more than Muzzin was. Also, LA had other players to replace Muzzin. We don't have anyone who could replace Manson.
I love how Manson "isn't that good", but you clearly want him. If he sucks so bad, we'll just keep him. We're not giving him away to help out TOR.
The 1st + Sandin/Liljegren was a bit "aggressive", but it's about the right ball park. We need a legit replacement coming through the ranks in the next few seasons. I think Liljegren really fits the bill over Sandin as he's slightly older and plays a more well-rounded game. I also don't think his upside is as good as Sandin's so he may be easier to let go in that respect.
In terms of the 1st, it's going to be late. We traded Montour for similar value and he's way worse than Manson</div></div>
Cool, you aren't getting Liljegren or Sandin. And if thats what you are hoping for, you won't be happy if Manson goes to TO.

Thoughts CHI Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Something much more long term, a solid D prospect to replace Tanev/Edler eventually.</div></div>
Well the thing I feel about this trade is that it would be the Canucks stating they would be going all in this season by getting a 1A/1B system with Markstrom and Crow. I think the thing that makes this trade so unpredictable in value is that Demko himself is a young goalie with a lot of untapped potential but not quite the results he was hoping for. And yet he is still a year younger than crow was when he got into the league. In an up and down Pacific Division, this definitely puts the Canucks in serious contention with VGK for the Pacific title, so if they decide they can give up Demko and have Markstrom be the long term starter going forward, I think they make this trade if we retain 3 M of Crow and put in a 3rd or later rounder. Its definitely an interesting one for sure, atleast to me. With Lankinen and Delia somewhat up in the air, this adds another young netminder to the mix, I'd probably have to say I atleast strongly consider it
