I’d take a 4th if that’s what we could get. I’m not sure if any of the guys I listed apart from Mitchell have much more value then a 4th though so I’d lean a player. But I’d take a pick as well

Cody Ceci to Chicago ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jzoni10</b></div><div>Ian Mitchell will definitely not be going. Not sure about the others. Personally I don't know why both fan bases think Ceci would be good on the Hawks, yeah we lack in defense but that doesn't mean we pick up anyone. He's not fast, doesn't produce points, and his plus minus is terrible for a defensemen.</div></div>
Ya I know Mitchell is a pipe dream but just thought I’d put him in because I like him. I read an article today saying they were looking to add d depth so figured it might be something to look into. Leafs wouldn’t want a lot back at all so maybe it’s a fit if they want to try someone else on their d and move him to make room.

Minimal Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Bear_On_Skates</b></div><div>I wouldn't be shocked, however, if they won't sign for roughly 2.2M I think they trade Kapanen instead of Brown. Or maybe in addition to. They just can't afford it IMO... and being a right winger Kappy is more replaceable. Bracco maybe?</div></div>
I think Brown is gone for sure and then just comes down to space and demands. If Kapanen has to go then need to get a d man for sure. I'm on the deal Bracco side not because I don't like him but because we have incredible RW depth and he needs to play top 2 lines or he's not effective. He's got incredible value right now and could possibly, with other assets, net the Leafs a real good d man.

Only issue I would have is I think Johnsson and Kapanen make a little more but I like the rest. Well done

Bracco for Miller
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JelloPony</b></div><div>Well with Miller taking a step back and Bracco tearing it up in the AHL, the Leafs are goi g to need some cheap contracts for the bottom two lines next season, I’m not a fan of the move. You are going to say they don’t need forwards... right now no but by the start of the season I’d bet money they do.</div></div>
They have cheap contracts for next year(Mikheyev, Moore, gauthier, petan, marchment, engvall) and they could still bring back Ennis on a cheap deal or whoever years Ennis is. As for Bracco specifically I think he has to be a top 2 line player or he won’t be effective as an nhler. He’s not going to play over marner or nylander and if Kapanen is back which I think he will be then that leaves the fourth line. So deal him at a potential high to buy someone at a potential low

The whole point of this armchair GM was to talk about Bracco for Miller but all anyone wants to do is talk about Marleau. Let’s not focus on him for like 5min and talk about the deal and see what happens

I said in the trade of marleau if we can’t move him then deal zaitsev but no one seems to notice

Even the "buyout" isn't that important money wise but who owns his 6.25m is the issue. Betcha Marleau when he sees his Sharks now, wish he stayed in San Jose.
Regarding the post, pretty good but still think some of RFA signings are light, so any cap has to be traded.</div></div>
Marner might be light but I think the Kapanen and Johnsson deals are more then they will get. I went higher on them for that reason that we’d have some more cap space if they sign less.
But the Bracco for miller deal?? Anyone want to talk about that?

Just focusing on Weegar I think he may cost a bit more. I'd consider dealing brown for him because I think we can get more value from Moore then Brown and for much less cost. Brown for Weegar is what id try

Zaitsev Trade Ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kosterjr</b></div><div>That’s because the coach doesn’t play him in all situations like he should. Point is Zaitsev isn’t an upgrade but cost way more so Cats should just keep Weegar unless Leafs are willing to sweeten the deal which they won’t</div></div>
That’s an accurate analysis. The upgrade likely isn’t there for Florida unless they saw something they liked in Zaitsev. Leafs may be willing to add a minor prospect or late pick to make it happen

That’s fair although they do have 33+M in cap space next year so they could make it work possibly.
Who would you target from NJ? I like severson but I doubt they would deal him for zaitsev

I like all the contracts you signed. It’s nit picking but I think you can get borgman for less like we signed Rosen. Rosen is the Marlies top d man and got 750k so you could probably get borgman at that as well.
I’m a big fan of montour and would love to get him but I do think it’s a slight overpay. He is a RFA after his contract is up so controlled but I think a package like liljegren, brown and a 2nd could do it. If they prefer Moore or Johnsson then no picks involved.
The zaitsev deal works for me even if we have to add picks. Just clear the cap space

If you give him the patience he has earned, maybe you get another Gourde, either way you get a scoring, hard-working LW who will be cheap during the crunch for the price of a 7th round pick in 2013. Mango is neigh untouchable due to his position.</div></div>
