Nice win for the Yotes in their final game. I'm going to miss them so much, feel real bad for the fans. It's a real shame we didn't get to enjoy the Kachinas for longer 😔

I'm not someone who likes to hate on Vegas, but it would be objectively hilarious if they missed the playoffs after all that spending and I am going to be rooting against them for the rest of the season

(VGK/WSH) - 2024 2nd (VGK), 2026 4th (VGK) for Mantha
That guy wont play hard during the playoffs to prevent any risk of injuring himself. His only motivation is a new contract.
As a french canadian, I should cheer for him but there's not heart in his game. He could be russian for all I care.
A 2nd is a big overpayment for a guy who was a capdump at the season's start.
Maybe VGS is hoping Roy, Carrier or Marchessault can have a good influence on him but I doubt it.

Right? Feels like there are a few fan bases that have zero representation, a few that have a couple devoted users, and then there's the Leafs and Habs

(COL/NJD) - MacDermid for Bardakov, 2024 7th (NSH)
I'm gonna miss Dermy as a person. As a player though, he wasn't necessary to carry anymore. He is clearly not a forward and we have Jones, Malinski, and Hunt (anyone remember him?) in our pipeline.
Assuming this is a cap move, Avs win.

Probably don’t want to give the other team some impression you’ve fought out of your weight class, or they may go looking for individuals too.</div></div>
Fights are fine…two willing combatants.
Serves a purpose. All for it.
I think Rempe’s purpose is a little different though.
He is there to injure people.
Its only going to get his teammates hurt.

2 options.
1) This is a serious tournament and top 12 IIHF teams participate.
2) Tournament is a gimmick to make NHL money. Have 4 teams and get is over as soon as possible. a) Canada, b) USA, c) Scandinavia, d) Rest of Europe/World.

I am not thinking pests, fighters, hitters…but more of the type that is going full speed when the rest of the team may be flat? NJD has had guys like Miles Wood, Blake Coleman, Michael McLeod play that role in the past.
So who else fits that type of role? On your team or any other team.</div></div>
Im biased but the Avs have a ton of guys that fit that description imo - the Wood-Colton-O'Connor line is extremely fast and Nichushkin + Lehkonen are relentless

The league has famously kind of used other rewards to justify where the Hart goes. If Kucherov gets the Art Ross and Matthews the Rocket, then MacKinnon is likely getting the Hart. If Mackinnon wins the scoring race then it'll be Kucherov that gets league MVP. The Selke nominations kind of follow this pattern too (early congrats to Barkov now that Bergeron is no more)
If McDavid (and I think he could legitimately cruise at 2.00ppg for the rest of the season) wins the scoring title then I think Matthews gets the MVP apropos of Colorado was making the playoffs anyways and Kucherov didn't buy himself any voter favour with his half-assed All-Star appearance.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>It's a max fine bit of discipline for incidental contact. Presumably because it's Binnington. The amount is not the issue. And everyone, including the two arguing the obvious for some bizarre reason, go on about how the NHL discipline is all over the map and weird and inexplicable.
Somehow, when certain people say it, they're a homer of whatever. Like this isn't weird and inexplicable and not in line with all the other weird stuff they do. We have intentional cross checks and slewfoots getting max fines. The only nothing burger here is the basis for any discipline at all. Unless you think Bunnington has a rear view mirror on his helmet and the no look precision of a ninja, it was completely incidental.
I can't even believe this is in question. Wild.</div></div>
Oh please. You really expect me to believe Binnington, a guy with a track record of this sort of thing, didn’t mean to hit him? Sure he obviously didn’t aim specifically at his head or anything since he couldn’t see him but to say Binner didn’t mean to have his stick out is kind of stupid. But like I said, it’s a $5000 fine. Who cares. It might be deserved, maybe not, and it’s definitely not a suspension or anything. But let’s not act like it’s an egregious mistake by the DOPS and the NHL is clearly anti STL

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Both were after the whistle and dirty... They both were actually worse than the Rielly one... Especially the Trouba one...</div></div>
if you're really gonna stand here and say that Trouba's one-handed follow through that carelessly clipped Frederic on the back of the neck/head is *worse* than Rielly skating towards Grieg and hitting him with a fully-controlled, two-handed cross check to the head/neck area, then I don't know what to say man. I'm an Islanders fan and you've got me defending the biggest dickhead on the Rangers right now because you think a stupid, careless action is worse than a clearly purposeful and fully in control action.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>Because you'd think if the Leafs players and coach go and defend their guy hardcore, the Sens would do the same right?
Why is that answer no if Greig's so blatantly in the right?</div></div>
Your constant striving to try and shift the blame back to Greig and the antiquated notions of "the code" is borderline embarrassing. You know who didn't follow the code on Saturday Night? Morgan Rielly - because if you have such a problem with someone's "classless" act, answering it with a much more classless act just makes you look that much worse. I'm cribbing from Ian Mendes here, but if Greig had so many options other than slapping it home into the empty net, why are we acting like Rielly only had the options to do nothing or to do this?
Rielly comes of looking like a major loser. You don't want to get shown up? Don't lose the game. If Rielly keeps his cool, all we're talking about is how Grieg was a sore winner who should "act like he's been there before"; instead, everyone but the true-bluest Leafs homers is talking about how Rielly can't control his emotions when the chips are down.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>That's just not how it works...
Rielly did what he did bc Greig violated code in a pretty cool and mellow game... Look at Giroux's post game presser, he didn't condemn Rielly... Even Marc Methot (known Leaf hater) said he loved what Rielly did...</div></div>
Grieg’s choice of shot is borderline…most players without fragile egos or violent tempers wouldn’t give two hoots about it.
And I think you are taking the ‘code’ thing a bit too far here.
If someone shoots a puck into warmup area, shoot it back. If someone kicks a dropped glove down the ice, give him some words. If someone sprays a goalie, push him away. If someone winds up on empty netter, tell him it will be remembered in next game or if needed, challenge him to drop the mitts. Anything else just makes one look like sore loser.

Greig knew what he was doing on this play. He was showing off and trying to rile up the leafs. And Rielly rightly went after him.
HOWEVER… a blatant cross check to the head is not acceptable under any circumstances. You can’t defend what Rielly did. I’d say he probably gets 5 games, and I think he should get 5 games.
