Lazytime3643's roster
The value you are sending to these other teams is not close for the player you are getting in return.

Slightly outside the box
Sabres most likely do not want to trade Reinhart. And if they did, there would absolutely need to be a top 4 defenseman in return. Scores about 50 points on a bad team and is still just 21 years old

Buffalo won't take a contract like that. If they do, I'll be extremely surprised.

I'm guessing this is just a "what if" because CAL is so close. You have a core in place, why tank!?

I don't think Toronto would take Callahan and his contract (even though you retained a mil each year). Especially in that trade because nothing entices them to take Callahan. They can find cheaper leadership somewhere else.

Trading Seabrook closer to his hometown
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Larkinisking</b></div><div>So Edmonton is going to pay close to $7 million per to Seabrrok for the next 7 years or so, Plus give Draisaitl close to $7 million per long term and then McDavid another $10 million per long term in another year or so Chia would be foolish to do that.</div></div>
This is my thinking. I feel like Seabrook would be a great addition, but his contract would be a bad one for EDM

I honestly think that CAL is getting the better end of that deal. At least stat wise.

Rebuild the Sabers
The only thing on here that makes sense for the Sabres is the MTL trade and MTL would not accept that at all. They get an enforcer and a retired player for someone capable of being a second line force? nope.

What I'd do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>Idk about that...
Pommer hasn't really been scoring goals for them, 13 this year & 11 last season
He was on their 4th line in the playoffs
And I think they'd rather protect a younger forward like Zucker, plus get rid of his contract
BUT...
my deal does hinge on them wanting to dump him
So if they can find a way to do it without trading a defenseman with him...
well then I'm sure they'd go that route</div></div>
He played 3rd line during the Playoffs with Hanzal for the most part, he just didn't get PP time. The playmaker part of Pommer's game is still there.
13g doesn't sound like much, but they were all even strength with 3rd line minutes. The same number (13g) as Benn, Simmonds, Nylander, Bergeron, Hall, RNH, etc. and in the top 120 in the league. Pommer's 40p even strength point was top 50 (tied) in the league last year.
Pommer didn't get much PP time, and played the point when he did. His number stacked up better than the other Wild defenders in everything except goals. He's just a $3.5-$4m player getting paid $5.6m.
The opening up a protection slot really isn't a good argument. So Zucker is exposed and Vegas takes him. The Wild have Brodin, Dumba, Scandella, and Spurgeon they could trade and get a replacement and still have a solid top-4 with the other 3 plus Suter. And the Wild don't have a replacement for Pommer within the system for next season. Kunin and Tuch are probably at least a half a season of AHL time away.</div></div>
Only thing I have to say about this is Zucker is younger, cheaper, and better than Pommer at the moment. Just look at his stats. I do not see a reason they would want to keep pommer over zucker, and if they can move pommer in order to protct Zucker, it could be very attractive to them to do so. However, an obstacle that arises is Pommers NMC

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>Massive overpay for Nylander... He's good, but Carlson for him straight up is more than fair</div></div>
I agree with this. Carlson is a top pairing defenseman. They aren't cheap by any means. Probably the most expensive type of player in the league right now. That is a pretty big overpay.

Boterill Idea
BUF won't do that. I don't see them moving Kane for something other than a defenseman. However, if they do not plan on resigning him, I could see them looking at all options. I'm also not sure if DAL would do it unless they could be sure Kane would sign an extension with them.

Attempt 2. Better?
Vrbata will definitely make more than that. Probably same with Quincey. Possibly the same with Jagr and Hanzal. The money is definitely off on Vrbata though. 55 points on a bad team get you more than 1.5 mil.

No chance. Fowler is gonna be UFA after next year. Reinhart is worth more than that. Maybe it is a convo if Fowler signs extension. Because of that this trade would have to wait until July 1st

Ovechkin scores goals. That's it. Does not play D as well as $9million+ cap hit player should. WSH would not get that kind of return. And EDM would not ever want to do that. I think a lot of people give him huge value b/c he is Alex Ovechkin.

Going young in goal in order to strengthen other areas of team
At least 1 of Gillies/Korpisalo/Gruabuer will step up. Never hurts to have multiple goaltenders. Especially in a long season. Just look at how it's helped PIT this year. Even ANA has benefited having Gibson and Bernier. Decent idea. Not sure if anything like it will happen but ya never know.

This is a trade that would work on NHL 17 b/c they "have the same value." This wouldn't happen in real life

Next year
That would be quite the get for Drouin. Not sure if MTL goes for that. Plus, it has been repeatedly reported that TB wants a defenseman to pair with Hedman. While Sergachev is a very good D prospect, I don't know if they would view him as fit for that. Maybe they would. Not sure

I would ask them for Drouin. They want a top d man that could play with Hedman. Ellis fits that, and Drouin is better long term investment than Johnson.

Alzner will definitely get $5mil in FA. He is not gonna put up strong offensive numbers but he is very solid defensively and will play at least 20 minutes a game. I also would suggest not trading Esa Lindell

Is this a fair Trade for Giroux and Voracek?
Yes this is just for Rantanen and the third. COL GM Sakic has listed Rantanen as untouchable. Also, split Giroux and Voracek up into two different trades to two different teams and you are likely to get a better total return.

Botterill's First Sabres Team
Not sure if TB would be interested. We are taking Garrison off their books, but they keep reiterating that they want a top 4 D in return for Drouin, and as a Sabres fan, I am willing to say that McCabe is not a consistent top 4 d YET. He certainly could turn into one, but I'm thinking that they may get an offer from another team that is willing to give them that true, established, top 4 d man they want. Teams like ANA or NSH would love to have Drouin on the wing and they have the defenseman to make the move. We will see what happens soon.
