Thread: What I'd do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>Idk about that...
Pommer hasn't really been scoring goals for them, 13 this year &amp; 11 last season
He was on their 4th line in the playoffs
And I think they'd rather protect a younger forward like Zucker, plus get rid of his contract

BUT...
my deal does hinge on them wanting to dump him
So if they can find a way to do it without trading a defenseman with him...
well then I'm sure they'd go that route</div></div>

He played 3rd line during the Playoffs with Hanzal for the most part, he just didn't get PP time. The playmaker part of Pommer's game is still there.

13g doesn't sound like much, but they were all even strength with 3rd line minutes. The same number (13g) as Benn, Simmonds, Nylander, Bergeron, Hall, RNH, etc. and in the top 120 in the league. Pommer's 40p even strength point was top 50 (tied) in the league last year.

Pommer didn't get much PP time, and played the point when he did. His number stacked up better than the other Wild defenders in everything except goals. He's just a $3.5-$4m player getting paid $5.6m.

The opening up a protection slot really isn't a good argument. So Zucker is exposed and Vegas takes him. The Wild have Brodin, Dumba, Scandella, and Spurgeon they could trade and get a replacement and still have a solid top-4 with the other 3 plus Suter. And the Wild don't have a replacement for Pommer within the system for next season. Kunin and Tuch are probably at least a half a season of AHL time away.</div></div>

Only thing I have to say about this is Zucker is younger, cheaper, and better than Pommer at the moment. Just look at his stats. I do not see a reason they would want to keep pommer over zucker, and if they can move pommer in order to protct Zucker, it could be very attractive to them to do so. However, an obstacle that arises is Pommers NMC
