Jones to Nucks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fishbrain</b></div><div>Don't think Columbus will get much better offers than that. Jones has most of the power because no team will trade for him unless he's willing to extend with them.</div></div>
That's just silly to say, lots of teams will trade for him if they're in a win now mode, regardless of if he agrees to extend upfront. And if jones has "all the power" why would he choose the Canucks over all the other teams in the league...

I don't think JT miller should be a 3rd line centre, his giveaways were numerous, evident, and costly. Pushing him back to the wing will make a 3C more viable. I could even see VAN trading for Copp from WIN, he's an RFA looking for a contract after this season and will take up a protection spot. He's more defencively sound than miller and can play the wing. Seattle has a pulse on every team and every market in the NHL so they can see that VAN wants BH49 out. I can almost assure that they have called up Jim and told him that they will take him for an additional pick. The Canucks should expect to lose a bottom 6 player like ZM71 because Zach Mac is cheap, has grit and probably just needs a change of scenery.

Good looking team. Would have to add a sweetener to Holtby for Seattle to take him I’d think, but probs worth doing.
I would target a C over a Winger. Right now, if one of the centre gets injured, there’s no replacement. If you sign a centre, you can always move miller over to centre in case of an injury.
Probably danault or wennberg would be good targets imo

Top-16
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>Interesting D rankings i like Hughes the most out of all the top 4 D's, Edvinsson then Power then Clarke.</div></div>
Based on?
Hughes plays in the weaker leagues (both the USHL and USDP rate lower than the Swedish J20 league by NHLe) and is yet to play against men. Both Edvinsson and Power played well against both peers and those senior to them this season. Clarke got premier minutes AND played in the strongest league of all four defenders. If we use NHLe as a rough metric to compare their offensive totals:
Clarke: 82GP 9.184G - 18.368A - 27.552P
Power: 82GP - 3.238G - 14.030A - 17.268P
Edvinsson: 82GP - 0.563G - 11.864A - 12.427A
Hughes: 82GP - 2.410G - 8.406A - 10.816P
Keep in mind that unlike forwards, NHLe is a bit flawed when it comes to defenceman. Scoring isn't their bread and butter, but it does give a quick snapshot at how skilled they are.
We see that Hughes has been the least productive of the bunch. We also know that both NCAA freshmen and Swedish juniors rarely see the premier minutes. Power and Edvinsson are out-producing Hughes by a noticeable margin without the key minutes. Clarke's numbers need to be taken with a grain of salt: his numbers are very much a fact of his seeing top line and powerplay usage and he won't immediately translate that well immediately. A return to junior will demonstrate how capable he is, and AHL minutes will confirm it. I take a lot of consideration into the fact that McKenzie and a lot of other reputable scouting services have Hughes behind Power at a minimum. Stylistically, there may be more upside to Hughes over Edvinsson in a few years' time, but from what I see today Edvinsson is currently the better player. Clarke's handedness on top of his productivity give him a substantial amount of value on its own, and I think he goes high more because of his handedness and ability to quarterback a powerplay over his ability to defend.
The biggest thing Hughes has going for him right now is his name.

Whatd everyone think of the Pearson signing
Poor signing. Not only is it a slight overpayment but they gave him expansion protection (where they could have used that spot to exploit an asset from another team), and the signing is going to likely force the Canucks to pay assists to rid a contract in order to sign Petterson / Hughes and ice a full roster.
I was a fan of the JB hiring when they announced it many years ago, as I thought someone as highly regarded as a scout would be a good person to rebuild the team, but JB has been an absolute disaster. He’s constantly contradicting himself and it makes one wonder if he actually has a plan or if he is just flying by the seat of his pants, he has to go!

Ideal Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fishbrain</b></div><div>I like van picking up Tierney but I'm not sure if Gaudette and a 3rd will get the deal done.</div></div>
Prior to this season, most fans agreed a 2nd and a 3rd was his value. Now, with only 1 year left in theory for this deal, and after a somewhat underwhelming year so far, I think his value has dropped to about two thirds, which is what is given here.

I think Pettersson will get a lower amount and Hughes will get more. I know you guys are realy in love with Pettersson and for a good reason!! But you cannot pay him more than 8m... He never had more than 1 pts/per game... I think he'll get something similar as Barzal

No chance you're getting Motte. Why do people think this is good for Van?
Oh, right I forgot. Leaf fans have never watched another team play before and assume Motte is just a guy.
Motte is Hyman minus half his scoring and any Hyman comparable playing is worth way more than your crap.

Debrusk Asking Price
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Propeller09</b></div><div>It would be JT Miller coming back, that is the only thing that makes sense for Boston.
Debrusk & 2nd for Miller. Maybe and additional piece like Bjork, Kuhlman or 4th next year or something.
You could probably get more from other teams, but the team control is a big thing. Not that 50-60pts is bad, but I don't think he is a 70pt+ player, and I don' think he would be on the Bruins. He just wouldn't get the ice time with that first line ahead of him.
Miller is a better player and more consistent, but they both have career high of 27goals. Debrusk's ceiling is a bit higher just based on raw skills. Debrusk is also starting to play a bit better recently.</div></div>
Debrusk and a 2nd is no where close to JT Miller. They guy is ppg over the past 100 games and .8ppg over the past 4 seasons, plays wing or center, can kill penalties and play pp. Miller would need a top prospect and a 1st if it’s for futures or an impact player if it’s not futures.

It would
But also Det would have turned down something like this already and I don't think the 1 year later is gonna hook them in since they don't seem to want to use their cap space. They might be just saving money rn.
And Van doesn't need to do this. We can't build our team with Roussel, Beagle, the recapture, Holtby, Myers and Loui. Removing one doesn't fix anything. Everyone except Myers goes after next season. Team will be going then. No way to speed that up.

they dont have to protect Johnson, he can waive or they can buy him out. And why would he refuse to waive as he is a 33 year old Dman making 6m who has been hurt all season. At this rate he could miss the whole season and be injury exempt

Just because you don’t agree with someone doesn’t make you right or them wrong. Use some rationale and have a civil discussion and maybe come to some common ground.
