Miller takes most of Pettersson's faceoffs since he's way better at them, which I know doesn't cover all the responsibilities of a centerman, but still an improvement over what we're rolling out and would be worth a try if Benning would be willing to consider an offer like this, in my opinion.

Minnesota Wild signed Kirill Kaprizov (5 Years / $9,000,000 AAV)
It’s a lot of money, but 4+ years of term was the most important thing, so I can live with it. I think he’ll continue to be the stud he was.
Honestly I was hoping for $8.4M x 5 so Guerin’s only long term contracts kept the same trend of $42M deals (Brodin $6Mx7 and Ek $5.25Mx8).

Dumb trade idea but how close is the value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>It depends… Vancouver is giving up a center man, and a winger. Minnesota is giving up two wingers, and a defence man, and taking on a cap dump. Pettersson is really good so maybe it’s worth it to them… I would say both teams decline. Kaprizov is too good to give up on, Fiala is a good second liner, and without Dumba that defence is bad! For Vancouver, Pettersson is their 1c, and will be for years, Boeser is their 1RW, and works well there. Myers is a cap dump so is it worth it if you are taking on Myers? Idk, I guess it depends on if Minnesota can’t sign Kaprizov. This one is tough, and I can see why both teams reject. I like it!</div></div>
Yeah I figured it's one of those "both teams say no" type trades, but there's some interesting aspects to it on both sides. Vancouver could bridge Kaprizov where anything less than 4 years poses a big problem for Minnesota with the Parise/Suter buyouts. To replace Petey, JT Miller could shift to center full time and they could roll with Kaprizov - Miller - Fiala on 1st line which would be solid.
Obviously for MIN, downgrading from Dumba to Myers would suck, but if Addison could take over second defensive pairing duties, Kulikov-Myers third pair would be... uhhh... entertaining to say the least... Lot of hits and lots of penalties! haha

Wild Moves
Kaprizov certainly doesn't deserve a higher AAV than Brayden Point with so little term attached to it, Fiala will probably make north of $6M, and as a Gopher I do like Ranta and have no problems with Jost, just seems like Foligno is a pretty important piece to the Wild and the culture they're trying to build, so I don't see him being traded.

That was my thought too, but hey, Montreal did pretty well in the playoffs while being led by Ben Chiarot in TOI, so this squad might be able to pull it off.

I figure that's fairly likely, wouldn't mind putting them in a tough spot though unless Guerin is worried about burning bridges.

Swap Boeser for Petterson and then it's actually a trade with some merit for discussion, but as of now, the hometown hero thing in Boeser and Schmidt doesn't carry nearly that much value. Both the better players are going to Vancouver.

Lets Get Real
As far as the Seattle selection goes, Soucy can be replaced by UFA's or a trade that would cost less draft capital and Buffalo only had to pay a 6th for Vegas to take Carrier over Ullmark. A 2nd and a 3rd seems a bit lofty to me. I think the most I'd wager is a single 3rd to get Seattle to go for Rask over those two, and even that is pushing it for me.

Second tier centers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wildwinswhen</b></div><div>I would expect that Fiala is asking for even more. He got 6M on his last 2 year bridge and he delivered. His goal scoring is streaky and he's a hot head, but I think his contract will be at least in this range.
I like your other points. Thanks! As I said above though, I'm waiting to see what Danualt will bring.</div></div>
Seems fair for longer term, but he'll be 27 and could walk after a 3-year bridge deal. I'd rather dangle another 2 year (maybe like $5.5M) and see if he can keep it up again, but I'm not sure he'd take that. At $7M, I'd like to see at least 6 years. Guerin seems to like giving out $42 million contracts since that's what he's given to Brodin and JEE now lol

Second tier centers
If that's how much Fiala is asking for on a bridge deal that takes him to UFA, then wouldn't be a bad idea to see what kind of value for him could be found in a trade. Danault should rightfully ask for more money. Also, Buffalo only had to send Vegas a 6th for them to select Willam Carrier over Linus Ullmark.. A 2nd is too much to be sending to Seattle to keep Talbot or Kahkonen safe.

Yep, but I'm not sure the Pegula's would be too happy with Kevyn Adams after he's not able to fill any seats at games because this is the roster the team is fielding. He may want the best shot at 1st overall next year, but he probably wants to keep his job too. Gotta keep the owners happy to do that.

It's sound cruel to say to about a guy who has committed so much to the team, but maybe having Parise spend most of this season in the press box for the 2021-22 season will be enough to get him to seriously consider mutual termination after the year is over if he still wants to be playing...

I don't mind the philly trade so much, although I feel like lining up Frost - Stepan down the middle is a big risk after both will be coming back from season ending shoulder injuries.
I like Hakanpaa as a cheap short term solution on D if Dumba is moved and if Menell won't sign. Probably a good addition whether Menell signs or not actually.
