Maatta out indefinitely
Kings pass, they'll want a 2nd round pick for Martinez, and the Pens don't have one of those to give up. If you want to include a 3rd instead, the prospect would have to be Hallander or Addison.

I see what you did here ;) Haha i was thinking later that 1,000,000 retention makes more sense and someone better than lafferty but still probably not simon

Maatta to NYR Trade
That is a ton to give up for not one, not two, not three but FOUR rentals. Some of which don't even seem like that huge of an improvement. There would be 5 forward spots needed to fill next year, and you traded away 3 current forwards who are under control for next season(for cheap or reasonable deals).

Trades that could be made
- Id rather keep Maatta over Brodin , Its an interesting trade but Brodin plays so soft. PLUS, I kno everyone on here smashes Maatta but to real GM's , Maatta has a S**t ton of value....
- I love Gally too and love the s**t out of that trade ... but need to find a #3 Goalie now bc u kno how Jimmy likes to have 3 NHL goalies at all times

Based off a rumor
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>He can practice his celly’s On the golf course early this season lol.
We are not over valuing kappy... you are over valuing rust. Kappy is faster more skilled has a better shot and is just as gritty. Last season he put up 7 goals on the fourth line in 38 games.... which is still a better pace than rust this season.A quick look at their numbers and you can see who is performing better this season so you have a walk uphill battle you compound that with the fact that kappy is playing his first nhl season and is 4 years younger... where’s your soap box to stand on?</div></div>
Are leafs fans really in a good position to talk about getting eliminated in the playoffs? But you aren't stating anything believable as to why Kapanen is better. If you can provide me with actual facts, Id say you're correct. Youre saying kapanen is far more skilled and has a better shot and just as gritty, but you cant prove it. Thats just your opinion. No question Kapanen is having the better season this year, but he's also arguably having a better season than Jake Guentzel. Does that mean Kapanen is better than Guentzel too?

Pearson amp Sprong Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FrozenWaterSports</b></div><div>The result will be the same if you put Nylander on the fourth line with grinders he wont score, same with sprong. You need to surround them with skilled players.</div></div>
was kinda thinking that when I changed the lines around, but figured the difference between Brassard/Hornqvist wasnt all that different from Sheahan/ZAR. To be honest I was just looking for some players in a similar situation and I have always liked any player named Nylander

Trading Hornqvist
Your return on Hornqvist is awful though, you are trading a late first for a late second and a decent Top6 for an okay bottom 6..... I like the idea of potentially trading Horny if the return was right, yours is a terrible return.

Offseason/Next season
I like this, although 6 million for a 3C is very pricey. Stastny is having a down year, you might be able to sign him for 4.5 or 5. Also, you need a 23 man roster and you don't have enough cap for that. Overall, its a good improvement. Out with the grinders, in with some skill.

Different Cole trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojme</b></div><div>Why in the world would the sabres (or any team) ever make a trade for Ryan Reaves. He is worthless.</div></div>
Really? Not even for a 2020 7th rounder? Maybe the team that hasn't made the playoffs in I don't remember how long despite having numerous top picks could use something like him....... STL had no problem with him and only gave him up when GMJR gave a 1st pretty much for him. So I think you may be the only one who thinks he's completely worthless.
I think a lot of teams would take Reaves for a 2020 7th in a heart beat. Myself included.

Something to think about (Goalie Situation)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pium</b></div><div>Love the creativity, I do think about this sometimes too.
However we are really set at wingers at least for the next year, so I think the biggest priority would be to get a center. Maybe get back Staal from Carolina w/ 50% retained? Sounds like a fantasy, but that would probably be good for both teams.
I think we'll also need to offload Hags if we are keeping Schultz, Dumo, and Sheary together.
All in all I don't have a clear view of what options are really out there and can fit all sides, but the general direction is definitely worth Jim's time</div></div>
I know a lot of people say to get rid of him because of this and that, but he's one of the bigger reasons why this team plays with speed. He's a catalyst in that department. I don't think getting rid of him is such a great idea. Same as when people suggest to dump Bonino, but I think he's a perfect 3C.
