Which ones would those be? The only recent one I've seen even mention Konecny was Lebrun, and he didn't even get a potential return, only that Briere might receive some substantial offers. He's a very good player, but if you are expecting a top 15 pick, a recent 14th overall (13th player taken) and another fairly recent 17th overall then you should probably prepare yourself for disappointment.

Granato didn't trust players like Peterka, Quinn, and early on even Krebs late in games to try and hold leads. You think Rousek or Murray will be different? They have minimal NHL experience, but are going to start carrying a big part of the defensive load for a team hoping to make the playoffs?
AHL success does not guarantee NHL success. You still need a few vets to continue guiding the youth, and personally I'd rather have a multiple cup winning vet with a ton of playoff experience teaching the youth on this roster what it takes to win. If and when injuries occur, absolutely get Rousek and Murray into the line-up, but neither have earned a guaranteed roster spot. If you constantly worry about "blocking youth" you'll never succeed because there will always be new shiny toys trying to make the NHL.

Who are the Girgensons replacements? He plays a heavy defensive role for the team. Guys like Kulich and Savoie aren't suited for that role, and others like Rousek, Weissbach, and Biro really aren't either, and are more along the lines of a Hino replacement. Replacing a guy who takes most of the defensive responsibilities with a rookie also presents numerous other issues.
Eventually you hope to see Kozak, Cederqvist and a Nadeau fill those types of roles but none of them are ready for that yet.

I may be in the minority of Sabres fans, but I'd have interest in Goodrow. It would depend on what happens with Gus though. If Gus decides to test the market and go elsewhere, Goodrow would be a solid replacement for him and his role on the team. His cap hits a bit higher than you'd like, but I think he'd be a good fit with Krebs and Okposo. Cap wise it shouldn't be too difficult to manage it longer term as they likely bridge some guys like Krebs until the Skinner contract is done, along with the projected cap jumps in the coming years. The forward group could use a couple of guys who play with an edge, they won't get by with skill alone. You'd hope some of them develop a bit of that like Krebs seems to be doing, but for many it's unlikely.

Supposedly the guys Buffalo are believed to be high on are Simashev, Willander and But, so I think they would take one of those 3 before Dragicevic. Love them taking Strbak at 45 though, and would be ecstatic if he made it to them at that pick.

The deal doesn't make a ton of sense from the Sabres perspective. They traded for Greenway to inject some size, grit and defensive ability into their forward group with the belief that there is untapped potential there given his history with Granato. Greenway is a type of player they don't really have an equivalent to in their line-up. They have a handful of guys with some size, but most don't utilize it in the way Greenway has shown a willingness to do. Tradign him and a top 40 pick for a rental who is going to be 37 years old is a poor use of assets when they have bigger holes to fill on their roster.

Even if they do win, one outstanding playoff run doesn't change the fact that he's a 10 million dollar cap hit without a track record of the success he's had this post season. Not many teams can take on a 10 million dollar cap hit without any substantial cap going the other direction. It's not just a massive hit for 1 year, it has to make sense for the acquiring team for the next 3 seasons, and with multiple players that need to get paid, along with other holes to fill I doubt that team is Buffalo, especially at that cost.

10 different Alex DeBrincat trades that would allow Ottawa to save face

None of these 10 trades have to be made. True, and most of them wouldn't be made if the GM's were given the proposed cost.
None of these 10 teams have to trade for DeBrincat. This goes right back to point 1, most of those teams wouldn't make the trades with the given proposed values.
Please read this description before commenting. ok
You made an ACGM for what purpose other than to propose a perceived value for DeBrincat? Posters conveyed why the perceived value is off, and in defense of this you point to a description that has little bearing on what is proposed.
If this was solely to show huge returns for the player that would allow them to save face, then why make it in the first place? Ottawa could still save face in a return for DeBrincat without receiving more in a trade than they paid for him. I could make an ACGM for how Buffalo could save face in some of their trades by trading said player for the Bedard pick, or McDavid but it serves no purpose.

Martinez can play both sides, and logs heavy minutes with both Pietro and Theodore so he would likely be a good complement for Dahlin or Power. Zero cost to acquire for a solid top 4 dman is a pretty good value. He's also a monster shot blocker.

Buy-out Murray. Buffalo isn't taking him, especially not for a couple of late picks and an AHL tweener.
1. Adams has stated he wants players who want to be there, Murray already nixed a trade to Buffalo last offseason so that bridge was burned.
2. Buffalo already has 3 goalies under contract.
3. Murray has proven once again to be injury prone and inconsistent. Buffalo already has enough of that with Comrie and UPL.

Quoting: Joronto

And than kucherov Tavares? The whole idea of this trade is to free up money and send Tavares near home to an young an upcoming sabres team. He still has a lot of hockey left in him and is willing to adapt his game, so it is not just a cap dump. And BUF has the cap space to make it work. So why not?

The problem is the Sabres have the cap space in 23-24, however in 24-25 that Tavares deal would cause some issues. They have almost their entire defense in need of new contracts for 24-25, and players like Dahlin and Power will get big deals, add in others like Mittelstadt, Krebs, Jokiharju, Stillman, and even Liljigren (going by the trade) needing new deals as well and suddenly all of that extra cap disappears. They would potentially end up needing to move someone out to make it work, and do they want to do that for an aging center who while still a good player, is not a core piece for them? This is also all assuming Liljigren would be a capable top 4 Dman, it gets even murkier if they need to add another legit top 4 RD.

Top 10 center? Yea no. Lindholm is a very solid 2-way center, but he's not top 10.
As for that trade, if you think one of Savoie or Peterka are B level prospects, well you are very very wrong. Lindholm is a rental who will be a UFA at the end of the season and will be expecting a substantial raise. I'd say you will probably be looking at something closer to the Horvat return which was a mid first, a decent prospect and a middle 6 roster player. Buffalo won't be shipping out assets for rentals.

Just the team I picked to make the thread with. I am purely looking for the value of those players. Not what Winnipeg has to offer.
You are the first person I have ever seen on here with a clear knowledge and known direction of a team. I hate hearing they are untradable. That is not even realistic in any world.
Great job!

It's not so much that either are untradeable, just that it would probably take an act of god for Adams to consider it. Adams also looks like he covets some of his prospects, a bit like Regier used to. Apparently when they were in discussions for Chychrun, Armstrong was asking for Savoie or Kulich which was a non starter for Adams. I can't really blame him as both look like potential top 6 players, but he does tend to gush when talking about some of them.
Buffalo also doesn't generally draw a lot of UFA's so historically they've had to build through the draft and smaller trades. So when they get players who want to be there, and then in the case of Cozens they sign a long term deal that looks like it could end up being a bargain they hold on to them tightly.
Even in the pre-cap era they often tried to target under the radar guys or young players they were sure they could retain for several years. Guys like Satan or Hecht were low key great players, and ones like Briere and Peca were younger guys they could keep for a while.
