Lmao
Edit: To clarify, my lmao is at the idea of moving one of the highest value players the Penguins have to move JJ.

would this trade go through part 4
Pittsburgh has enough cap struggles as it is, it would be a terrible decision to throw away someone familiar who has history with the team and its players for someone who's probably a little higher skill but significantly more expensive.

Penguins trade Pettersson and Hornqvist
I've seen some bad trades on here but the Pettersson for a 2nd round pick is among the worst. Humungous yikes. It's throwing away a guaranteed cost-controlled defender for the chance at a player who might be good in a few years. They're trying to squeeze the most they can out of the last few effective years of Crosby and Malkin but I don't even think Pittsburgh does that trade if they're rebuilding.

Can't agree with you there. They've definitely got some issues to work out but Crosby and Malkin are pretty far from useless. Pens still finished 7th in the league in points percentage this abbreviated season, Crosby and Malkin combined for 55 games missed. Pittsburgh will do everything they can to squeeze success out of what's left of those two before entering a rebuild. I don't expect to enter a rebuild for a few more seasons yet.

I can't imagine Pittsburgh doing this. Their window is open right now and picks aren't worth much to them unless they're NHL ready players.

rangers and more
As a Pittsburgh fan, I'm not big on any of these except for Detroit taking JJ. Letang/Pettersson > DeAngelo/Klefbom/Benning in my opinion. ZAR and McCann are two solid bottom six players. It doesn't make sense to me to use them to acquire a scoring forward who might or might not slot into the top 6 on the Penguins. Only 4 of Rust, Guentzel, Zucker, Kapanen, and Gurianov can fit, so who gets bumped down? If it's Kapanen, as the lineup suggests, Pittsburgh gave up a bunch of assets for a third line player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchMarnerElite </b></div><div>What'd you guys think of this team? Would you entertain signing Hall?</div></div>
Gonna be a no from me dawg. Assets will need to be moved to shed Bjugstad or JJ, don't think either is getting claimed. Also, Pittsburgh gave up a bunch to acquire Kapanen and Zucker, doesn't make sense to me that either of them and especially not Guentzel and Rust stay out of the top 6.

My 7th sense as to what will happen in this offseason
As a Pens fan, I don't hate any of this, but don't know enough of other teams' prospect situations to know if they'd accept. The only thing here I don't like is the addition of Maroon. I just don't see any good reason to sign him for that 4LW spot when ZAR, Lafferty, and Simon are all sitting in the press box.

Other moves
I feel like Pittsburgh might decline this for a couple reasons, including that they already have 8 defensmen signed for next year, but one of the biggest is Russell's NTC/NMC. Pittsburgh already might need to do 4-4-1 to protect Letang, Dumoulin, Pettersson, and Marino. If they have to protect Russell, that makes it impossible to adequately cover the others they need.
Disclaimer though, I could be wrong about the expansion rules.

GMJR needs to do these
Pretty tough sale on Gourde for me. He's a solid player and I would be good with him as our third line center but not at anywhere near $5M. Tampa would have to retain like half of that salary for that to feel like a decent option, but I doubt they do that. If we were going to take on a contract like that for 3C, we should've just kept Bonino.
Also, I strongly doubt that CBJ wants to let go of Anderson for that cheap, especially within the division. Are they in danger of losing him or something?

Murray to Sabres
So Pens give Toronto a haul including 15OA pick to get Kapanen only to bury him on the third line? One of Reinhart, Guentzel, Zucker, Rust, and Kapanen does not fit into the top 6, doesn't make sense to do this trade.

If you really want to talk about a McDavid trade, I'm pretty sure you'd need to drop Lundkvist and add Zibanejad. NYR probably could get the trade done, but it would cost them greatly.

Hagelin, Barrie, Murphy. The window to win is now
There's absolutely no cap space for a $6M winger in Pittsburgh, especially not with all the right side talent they've got in the pipeline. I wouldn't do Hagelin for Eberle straight up, let alone with our 1st.

I want to believe...
But I can't. No way I can see that Winnipeg wants to give up anything to acquire a piece that they either have to protect (perhaps Fleury waiving for expansion is contingent in the trade) or risk losing for no gain. I also don't think there's any way that Pittsburgh gets Johns for Hagelin straight up, let alone with a second round pick. Hagelin is good with good linemates but on his own without a great fit, he's kind of an anchor at $4M. At the end of last playoffs and the peak of the HBK line, this trade would be more plausible.
I think your free agency signings are pretty spot on though minus Pageau.

Considering doing these, plus selling some very valuable picks makes this probably the worst Armchair-GM I've ever seen, so you kind of did very remarkable job there.</div></div>
Basically what he said. I can't really find a move that I'd consider good. Giving away a center, a goalie, two firsts, and a second (one of them third overall) to have them take another goalie...I mean dude, buy them out or something.
