No Guenther, no Sourdif, no Bourgault, no Bourque, on top of Perfetti, Wright, and Neighbours. Forward corps took a massive hit. That's 6 of our top 9 (only Greig, McTavish, and Johnson remain from the top 9 that played Russia). Even Guenther, who played up and down the lineup (and imo deserved to be more up than down) isn't there. Power and Guhle were also arguably two of the top 5 D in the tournament (Power in particular woulda been the favourite to be D of the tournament for obvious reasons). Surprisingly, Canada actually looks very solid in goal for the first time in a while, Garand and Cossa are very good prospects. But only one of them can play at a time. Gonna need a big tourney from Bedard, and probably someone else to step up (wouldn't surprise me if Ostapchuk ended up on the 4th line and chipped in some depth scoring, Greig+Stankoven will have to play big minutes, etc.).

Meier is very much an upscale and flashy kind of guy. He’s always on a yacht or visiting a fancy European city in expensive clothes. He likes luxury and style. I think California suits him well for that. Winnipeg is like the opposite. I just wouldn’t see him signing long term there.

Be the team to overpay Kadri
I’m actually kind of hoping for a toews appearance, maybe stack up 4 centers and see if a one and done sort of squad could entertain. Possibly new stastny with a bigger resume and influence. Cap could be a issue, but possibly a open up a spot for samberg and or heinola. Lots of random stone handed youth to move for toews. Anything but a first would be the negotiations and kids.

This Trade Could Put NJ Into The Playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Severson is our 1RD, Dougie Hamilton is our 2RD. Marino will get minutes, but but will still be third on that list.
Walsh is a very good prospect and an analytics darling. Was only on the ice for 8 or 9 goals against at even strength last year. He is also more physical than people give him credit for. And has a lot of offensive upside.
Stillman is a mystery box.
The 2023 1st may not be a lottery pick, but the Metro is a stacked division and even a 10-16 pick is very valuable this year as 2023 draft class is expected to be a good one.
The deal, if there is ever one, would be Severson for Miller, with Devils adding a piece. Stillman maybe, probably not Walsh, and definitely not the 1st. NJD is not going to extend Miller, so it makes little sense to pay anything more than that.</div></div>
Stillman has no value to the Canucks, and Walsh is not equivalent in value to a 1st round pick

That return package is nowhere near the value of the Eichel package. Stillman and Walsh are nothing special

If we really want to get back into the playoffs
Prefer the complete sell high rebuild, tear it right back to the kids, but this is starting to grow on me a bit. Toews with the right hunger, drive, and health could be a interesting player to bring cup winning pedigree and possibly heal a room. Tatar type offensive veteran for top 9 never hurts, possibly straight grind line and save Appleton to have a role with toews or higher. Such a shrinking window with interesting contract decisions everywhere you turn around, I just wish they decide either way and not try to do both half assed.

Is it? Looks closer to fair value for me, which isn’t a problem in itself.
But I think given where the Devils are, and the east being stacked this year it’s more sensible to keep the long term assets and hold off on this type of deal for at least one year.

Neither one of us are on the team. There is no we. Its just objectively an awesome deal.
Pastrnak will be due a UFA contract after next season. Hintz just popped 37 goals, and has a year left at half of Pastrnaks price tag, before hitting RFA. He can also play center. Also, pastrnak was just unbelievably bad in the playoffs. Guys been a ghost for the past couple runs at 5 on 5.

Watch. There’s reverse bias here. He plays for my favorite team. He’s a mediocre third pair d man that probably shouldn’t be in the top six of a contending team.
This is a perfect example of how garbage advanced stats are for d men.
