Reclamation Types
Unlikely Oilers move either prospect they need sub 1M roster players next year with the 3.5M in bonus carryover. Holloway has also been quite good since his recall and Broberg was good in the AHL just had Ekholm, Nurse and Kulak as LD in front of him.

Overall the trade isn't bad value wise but both teams are better off with their own guys</div></div>
I agree!

Bouchard is not better than Seider lol.
One had the worst defensive assignments in the league. (Literally, this is not an exaggeration) The other racked up PP points QBing McDavid/Drai/Hyman/RNH.

Wings fan. Not a big fan of Bouchard although he has really shaped an offensive game that is tailormade for Edmonton. Seider had his question marks this year but I wouldn't ever do this trade. I just don't think Bouch is a number 1 that you can win with. Maybe McD can squash that who knows. Prefer Seider when we need to win a cup, at least theoretically.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gronk9911</b></div><div>Definitely interesting, I’m fully expecting to get negative criticism from both teams though.</div></div>
I think both teams just keep their guys. Bouchard is great and is a better offensive player but I think Seider will grow into a better defensive player. Considering how hard it is to find really good defensive defensemen and how offensive guys seem to be almost a dime a dozen, I think Seider will be the better option for us.
I watch alot of Oilers and I've been really impressed with the growth in Bouchard's game though.

Exactly. No need for a mediocre, overpaid LHD. Or just about any LHD, for that matter.

No he really is! And sharks jump at him and a 1st for Karlsson even if it’s with 5+ mil retention.
Even willing to add a cap dump on a 1-2 year deal to free up cap space for ya.

He had a solid season getting top 4 minutes in San Jose and his cap hit was an absolute bargain. Maybe we just had more room for him than the Oilers or Nashville, but he definitely took advantage of the opportunity.

Konecny
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gronk9911</b></div><div>What are you talking about? Ceci can be traded & would be traded, plus anyone of Broberg, Holloway, foegele or Lavoie to balance the numbers.
Pesce numbers defensively are better than Ekholms.
Holland agrees with the trade.</div></div>
I suppose I should've specified that it's the cap and timing that limits it, not that Pesce is lacking. Even adding the extra 750k in difference between Pesce and Ceci really limits the team's ability to ice a mostly-full roster. For me, it's best to focus on getting the RFAs locked up without going too tight to the cap. Bouchard @ 3 * 1, McLeod @ 1.75 * 2, and Lavoie @ 775k * 2 should leave them around 1.6mil to add a proper 4C and still have not be too tight to the cap with a 22-man roster. At the deadline once some cap space has been accrued through the season, then I could see them pursuing Pesce for a package like this. The problem is that I think Carolina is going to move him well before then.
As for your specific point about any of Broberg, Holloway, or Lavoie going out to "balance the numbers", unless you're intending to ice a 20 or 21-man roster, that's not going to save you much of anything.

He doesn't have arbitration rights and his closest comp, Noah Dobson, signed a 3 x $4M deal just last year after a 51 point season. There's no justification for getting bent over by Bouchard's agent under these circumstances.

You have no 4th line centre.
In my opinion you’ve given McLeod, Kostin and Bouchard too much money. One year deals or bonus structure the deal.
Kostin 1M
McLeod 1M
Bouchard 3M
That saves you 1.7M
Parayko contract is forever and a big man like that might break down soon, big risk.</div></div>

That's too much for Pesce. Start with the Ekholm deal and drop the bid based on term and ability.
Also too much for Konecny, but maybe I'm higher than most on Holloway. Foegele had 27 points at 5v5 last season and Konecny had 32. Is that 5 point boost worth all the stuff you gave up? Not even close.
