Thread: With Stamkos
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>He’s my favorite player and I love the dude, but I don’t see a way to extend him at a reasonable number and improve the overall depth of this team. As far as I’m concerned, need to move on from Stamkos and Hedman and start loading up to take another swing with everyone else. Stammer and Heddy aren’t getting younger and running it back isn’t going to accomplish much. In my mind, we need another top 4 d man and 1 or 2 middle six forwards, which is not gonna be easy to fix. Still hoping Agnefelt takes the backup role.</div></div>

As long as they don't give Stamkos a long term deal,.7 million is fine for 3,.maybe 4 years. Tampa will have e approximately 12.3 million to sign Stamkos+5 additional players to reach a 22 player roster. With the way ABB snd to some degree, Merela have played, Tampa may look to extend both for relatively cheap. In any case, with Stamkos around 7, they could spend around 2 on a better 3LD and then spend near min on a 7D, 2 4th line F and a 13th F. It's very doubtful they're going to find 2 F in the ~3.5 range in ufa that together outproduve what Stamkos brings. If Sheary continues to suck, maybe they figure out a way to get rid of his contract after the year and use that 2 million towards another F,we'll see.

Hedman is going nowhere imo, at least not until after next season. He's dropped back a step, but he's still a very good dman. Tampa won't be able to easily replace him this year or next.

The way Johannson has played has been very encouraging. While it's been a small sample size, he's looked very capable and he's with the team for 2 seasons. Maybe by then Alnefelt is finally ready(provided he's still with the organization), but JJ looks to be the backup to Vasy for the foreseeable future with this level of play.
