They have a lot of time between the end of the regular season (or playoffs lol) and the opening of Free Agency to discuss contract extensions for players. Offer sheets have not historically been a problem in the league, and im not sure what changes that next offseason...

Best part is hawks fans thinking Debrincat, Dach, Kubalik will all be affordable in the future. I’d rather have gone all in on the 2017 roster instead of ripping it apart. Tampa got surprised by CBJ and didn’t tear it all down. The accepted fault and came back. Panarin and Coach Q gone was it. Hawks had more runs in them years ago rather than a Hail Mary esque looking year with MAF and Jones now.

If Reichel makes the team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>I know I’ve brought this up many times before, but let me just raise the question but now involving Reichel. Developing reichel as a center as opposed to a winger seems to be a point raised in your discussion. Would it really be that bad if Dach actually became a winger and reichel was developed as a center? With reichel, I do get the logic, boy’s got a freakin motor on him. He’s intelligent and he’s fearless. Scoring is also going to come second nature eventually, or rather hopefully. Dach still comes off as defensive and safe, if not flamboyant and flashy when it’s not necessary. Yes, he’s a playmaker by trade, but I don’t believe we’ve actually seen that in spades yet. Reichel looks like the kind of player who can score goals and gets assists while maintaining great discipline in the defensive zone. Dach truly doesn’t.
So again, just simply asking, is there really anything wrong with Dach being a winger? It’s a not a disaster if that were to happen. Sure it wouldn’t good next to his original projection, but I always thought he’d eventually be a winger anyway. He just doesn’t scream center long term. Reichel has all the tools for it if he’s trained and grown the right way. Dach has hit too many stumbling blocks.</div></div>
I don't have any issue with Dach at wing. He's outstanding on the boards on the puck is glued to his stick.

Im sorry but CHI isnt making the playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>
To exo’s point, who’s point I truly respect, I have my concerns. Yes the hawks were in the playoff hunt last year. However, an almost paradoxical moment happened last year where the hawks finally fizzled out and went on a losing streak where they dropped out of the playoffs. Paradoxical how, you might ask? Well, said losing streak started immediately when Dach was rushed back from injury. The hawks lost twice as many games when Dach came back. As for the incoming signings and those returning from injury, I’ve already made clear my expectations for many of them. However, I fear that many are still coming in as losers (McCabe, Dach…..), in poor form (Jones), or question marks (MAF, Toews). Keep in mind this is a deeply cynical dive, but what ties it all together is the man behind the bench. No matter the team, remember that it’s JC that needs to pull them together. Does anyone truly feel comfortable with that?
</div></div>
1st of all. Thank You! I very much respect your opinion too. I don't view this quite the same way. They were sellers at the TDL. Janmark, Soderberg, taking on the cap dump of Connolly for a couple of Stillman games last year, but mostly prospects. And just an overall deflated mentality knowing you're out of it. Why I like the additions so much (Probably too much to be honest and I do need to simmer down a bit) is because we got the hardest pieces to get. We can debate whether or not MAF is Vezina caliber next year. We can debate whether or not Toews is a #1C next year. We can debate whether or not Seth Jones is a #1D next year, BUT those are literally the 3 hardest pieces in the NHL to get...and the Hawks got all of those position. #1C, #1D, Reigning Vezina winner. Murphy down to the #2RD is going to allow him to focus on being the next Hammer...not the next Seabrook (in his prime) which is what he was trying to be. When you add at the top...the rest of the jobs SHOULD be easier.
I do have questions about JC. I put him on the hot seat not because I think he's a terrible coach, but because he just lost his excuses. That's just me though. I'm READY! GAME TONIGHT!!!!

Lines with notable player expectations
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>I don’t disagree that he should influence the youngsters, but if he doesn’t get that Norris caliber play going, he’s not influencing anyone. Jones needs to be a catalyst, and as I said, anything less is failure with the pressure his trade and contract threw on him.
As far as the seabrook comparison, I don’t believe his contract being similar has any bearing on his being more than just an individual. If he plays well individually, he inherently makes the team better, period. Making others around him better starts with setting an example to follow. As far as I’m concerned, hearing about the “personal beliefs” of Seth Jones makes me want not a single youngster anywhere near him. But that’s just me.</div></div>
Just trying to convince you the Seth Jones trade is not a bad move yet and make sure the anger is directed at the gm not the player.. The trade and contract are done. Got to accept it for what it is and hope the Norris player Seth Jones is still there. Stan Bowmans offensive trades haven’t worked out much. On the other hand A lot of his acquired dmen seem good to me. So hopefully Stan Bowman got his Norris level Dman in Jones and the hawks make a good playoff push. If not, yeah bring on the Stan Bowman hate not Seth Jones hate. Panarin/Boqvist for Saad/Jones should be too big a fck up if Jones doesn’t pan out.

Not a fan of the Nylander trade, but your right to have those expectations of the guys in the lineup.

That being said, Jones won’t be that expensive, and kurashev mayyyyy get that if his development continues as it did last year. However, if kurashev gets that based on now, Dach should be making less than even him. Dach hasn’t done a thing to deserve over 2.5 per year on his next deal. Once he shows he can play center, then maybe he is, but even then he still has to prove he can score.</div></div>
I based it on projection curves.

Logical lineup with pieces we have
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HatterTParty</b></div><div>Okay, I definitely get your feeling on kurashev, and it’s very fair. I’m all about giving prospects and youngsters the time they deserve to make their way in the NHL. However, here’s a big theory I have on prospects: I don’t care what round or what number you are picked at, you put in the work, you get your chances. Kurashev fits that criteria in my mind, even more than Hagel! Most importantly though, if pushing kurashev too far too fast is an issue, then I’d argue that Dach shouldn’t be in the top 6 either. His first two years have been so so and realistically the only reason he’s propped up as he is is because of his draft spot. I’m not throwing shade, I just wanna see every prospect, regardless of draft position, earn what they get. Kurashev, without exception, is the best of the lot in my opinion in terms of the work put in.</div></div>
Yeah, I hear ya on Dach too. I would have kept in the WHL one more year. Stan didn't. I know Dach hasn't put up tremendous point totals, but in my mind he's worked the boards REALLY well. Better than a lot of veterans. When it comes to maneuvering the puck and keeping possession...I do see shades of Hossa there. He 100% needs ice time. Fluke Injury, yeah. Sucks for everyone involved.
I'm a bit torn on "draft status" because 99.9% of the time...I do agree with you. I think things get a bit murkier when you're a top 10 pick. Take out the name Dach and insert Strome (or anyone). I do think AZ messed up his development with the back and forth OHL, NHL, OHL, AHL, NHL...etc... To a degree, I think CHI is doing the same with the center to wing constant transitioning. When you're a top 10 pick...you've been selected because you're ceiling is supposed to be "elite". You need elite players to win cups. Of course the Nail Yakupov's of the world exist...AND the Mark Stone's of the world do too. So it's not just top 10 picks that become elite. It's just that it's more likely to be the case.

Time will tell on that one obviously, but in the interim, moves like Jones and Johnson make me fear how the next three years will play out. I really wish we woulda stuck with youth honestly. But I know stan is saving his own ass before the assault charge gets him fired. I feel like the hawks don’t actually have as great a prospect pool as they think they do.</div></div>
I hear ya. The prospect pool isn't that deep, but they do supplement it well. All the Euro signings and guys like Hagel/Hardman. Stan's move with Pius Suter hurt the Hawks in the short term, BUT I really do think that will help the Hawks in the long term. Those Euro signings are all about life altering contracts for them. Stan understand that. Suter getting a $3.25M contract means he came to the Hawks...developed his NHL game and got $7M for it. That's life altering. I would not give Pius Suter $3.25M per year. Kubalik got $3.7 and scored 30 goals his rookie year, BUT to the point. Future Euro's are going to see that and see that continued steady stream of Euro's now making millions. Not like TOR did to Mikko Lehtonen. Signed the guy and made him ride the bench half the season.

Canada didn’t even trust him as a center on their wjc team pre injury.</div></div>
Let’s hope Suter is with Chicago. I do think Suter has some padded numbers playing on Kane’s line but he was an effective center for Kane which Kane really hasn’t had in years

It’s a f**king dirt bag move by Vegas. After everything he’s done for your franchise, being the face of the organization and really taking them to a cup final, they ship him off with 0 notice and he has to find out over Twitter. What a dirt bag move.
Give him the chance to just retire a Knight, or move him somewhere he’d like to go if he has anywhere he’d want to go. I get they need cap, that’s fine. But at least go about it the right way.

I tend to think it's a money issue vs a Colliton issue. Stan would have likely tried to trade his rights if it was an organizational thing. I don't blame anyone for betting on themselves. Idgaf, Patrick Kane is the goat American hockey player, rather see him in the playoffs trying to make a final run at it and dragging the young kids into real playoff hockey. This team is more setup for playoff hockey now without the “puck moving” kids. Boqvist is at best an Erik Gustaffson not an EK65. Only thing hawks fans should be mad about is the 9.5, and the 2022 1st rounder. But hey at least he kept debrincat and dach. Wah wah wah hawks fans your team is better on paper now. Saying Boqvist is “at best an Erik Gustafsson” is just straight up copium and kinda sad to see you post. He’s analytically compared to Karlsson and Ellis in their rookie years. It was an awful trade and an awful contract that further handcuffs Hawks chances going forward.

The hawks really are gonna be okay, not good, great, or bad. Just okay. Destined to be drafting in the mid teens for the next 5 years. This move does not make us a contender, they aren’t going to beat teams like Colorado, Dallas, STL. We’d be lucky to beat out Nashville for a playoff spot. I am extremely disappointed that they aren’t committed to becoming great again. Sure they got an arguably good player, but the assets they gave up to get him and the contact they committed to him are roadblocks to their future success. Seth Jones is no Duncan Keith, he’s not a Norris level D man anymore and he may never be again, this is hockey purgatory and I’m sick of it.
