Adam Brooks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>Who is this kid? What type of player is he?</div></div>
Standout in the Western Hockey League with the Regina Pats. Fourth-round pick in 2016. Worked incredible hard for 5 years in the WHL to earn an ELC with Toronto. Then another 3 more years in the AHL to get a call up. 42 goals and 50 assists in 164 career AHL games. In 18 career NHL games, he has four goals and four assists. A little surprised they invested this much time developing him only to keep a fa addition ( Amadio) but he looked good so who knows why.
Edit:
Feel like every organization has an Adam Brooks( that tweener between AHL and NHL) , he’s not a terrible loss and was getting buried on the depth chart behind Amadio and Semyonov. Will be a good bottom 6C that can fill in.

Johnathan Drouin had issues dating back to his time in Tampa. He then came to Montreal where he incurred a tone of pressure both from playing for a massive franchise/fanbase, and being French for the habs,he then had to endure the covid season last year as someone who already had problems
as for price I have zero clue whats wrong but I truly wouldn't be surprised if it has something to do with the injuries. Having multiple surgeries and having to rehab what seems like every year is very mentally challenging. He also might have faced a set back this time which is demorolizing especially for an aging star who might have just had his one shot at the cup
Kassian entered the program after playing for the Canucks and never suiting up for a game in bleu blanc et rouge. should we blame them? Should we blame San Jose for Evander Kane's issues?</div></div>
Drouin has looked pretty good in the preseason, he looks like he wants to play hockey again. The Montreal Canadiens deserve some credit as well for not giving up on him and supporting him all the way through.

Stankoven too small, we can't have a team full of 5'7-5'9 forwards - Raty is one of the older prospects and alrdy looks like a bust... not sure how you don't like Pinelli or Pasta2.0, they both played amazing at the WJC.
But yeah totally agree, draft mailloux tmrw as he most assuredly wlda still been there at 60. Doesn't make any sense frankly

1. Hoffman is possible because he tried to get him last offseason AFTER Toffoli signing but the cap wasn’t working
2. Ducharme doesn’t like Kulak for a reason we don’t know, and Bergevin always liked Leddy (ex-CHI player) and he is a puck moving dman who can log minutes (GMs like that even if they are meh)
3. He will overpay Danault we all know that. Everything 5M and more would end up being an overpay over 4 years. He overpaid Price, after Byron, after Gallagher, now it’s Danault’s turn.
4. We need to stop believing Seattle aren’t picking Allen
Maybe if Lehky or Evans would be exposed but they won’t

That was my thought exactly lmao
He’s brings a little bit of everything.
It’s especially weird because he’s playing third line, making $4.75M and I think I heard he’s 7th in ice time for forwards on Vegas.
but at the same time, he’s a really good player and would easily be a top 6 player on a different team.
And they probably wouldn’t trade him unless they’re upgrading at C. Which is something Toronto doesn’t exactly have the ability to give up.

For everyone bringing up the capitals as a reason to stick with the core 4
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>I said multiple times that they don’t have to move marner or even Reilly. Your talking about accountability. Matthews is making 11.6, nylander 7 and marner 11. These guys should be accountable without needing a kick in the ass. Veteran leadership should be for giving advice. This is how you play in the playoffs, this is how you win faceoffs vs really good centres, this is how you defend a lead, this is how you play on the edge etc...
Again not saying trade marner right now, or that Matthews is gone. But you can’t be all relaxed when you keep losing in the first round and Matthews only has 3 year left on his deal. Yes marner is a beast, and yes he could figure Out how to preform in the playoffs, and yes he’s a key factor to Matthews’ success. But I don’t really agree that a couple of veteran 4 liners will fix this team</div></div>
I'm really not in a panic mode at all and I don't think Leafs management is either. There's a difference between being frustrated with the situation and overreacting and making a panic move like most of Leafs fans want. I'd be more impressed if Dubas kept all 4. Trading one of them is the easy way out.

As I said above, until Matthews re-ups you have a 3 year window to win. Not saying he’s leaving but they’re probably a reason he only took a 5 year deal</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>but they still kept Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kuznetsov, and Carlson who were even bigger parts of their core
Matthews, Marner, Nylander, and Rielly are still young and will only continue to improve.
Washington shipped out their older guys but still kept the main boyz together and did not give up on them.
Also Toronto already did its share of moves
Brown, Kapenan, Johnsson all were moved for prospects and picks which has set the team up well for the future with guys like Anderson, Amirov, Hallander, and other prospects.</div></div>
Carlson was a rookie in 2011 and he replaced Mike Green. Similar to Sandin and MR right now. Semin left bc Carolina offered him too much money. Basically what happened with Marner but Washington was too smart to dish that type of money out. Kuzy started playing full time in 2015. You could pretty much say he was the main catalyst to the Capitals being spectacular the last few year but he was hardly a core guy when they moved on from Green and Semin. Capitals basically draft well and spent their money well like trading Varly for the #11oa pick. They just made some boneheaded trades. I think leafs should move on from MR and just keep drafting well. Even dumping MoJo and Alzner was huge for them.

There are still many scenarios in which Eklund falls to 9 imo. Here's one :
1. BUF : Beniers (make sense if they trade Eichel)
2. SEA : Power (BPA and great building block)
3. ANA : Guenther (great fit and BPA imo)
4. NJ : Luke Hughes (what is there to say)
5. CLB : McTavish or Johnson (those 2 are the best C's available as I think Eklund is more of a winger. CLB needs a top 6 C badly)
6. DET : Edvinsson (lucky he's available. Elite LHD dmen and represent a need for DET)
7. SJ : Johnson or Wallstedt (either take the skills of Johnson or a futur number one goalie which they absolutely need)
8. LA : Clarke (amazing fit. Defense prospects is basically the only thing they lack imo)
9. MTL : Eklund!!!

Fitting Danault in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howisjulienstillhere</b></div><div>Sorry, very tired and saw danault getting that contract i couldn’t tell if it was a joke.
Yes he’s very good, maybe even elite defensively but he doesn’t drive much offensively. On that line maybe he could. I’d just hate giving 7 million dollars in a flat cap for the next couple of year to a shutdown centre. I agree that the caps could use a very good shut down centre, but for 7 million my goodness. I love watching him work every night, but I wouldn’t quite be as happy at 7 million. If you want to put that much value in 1 defensive centre go ahead</div></div>
No worries, I get way too into the arguments on here for no good reason lmao. It wasn’t a joke, but I see what you’re saying.
Danault is 28 and would be an amazing second line center for the remainder of the Ovi-Backstrom era in Washington. I was putting a lot of stock into his defensive capabilities when trying to come up with a number for his contract. He’s also a reliable half a point per game player over the course of the last few seasons. I think he could be a 50 point guy in DC, especially between Mantha, Ovie, Wilson, Oshie, Sprong, etc.
Maybe 5.5x5 is more reasonable? Or 4 years only so his contract expires with Ovie and Backstrom and we start the rebuild then?
