<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Why would anyone want him then? Everyone keeps saying all these things about him as they quietly trade for him and play him on their top line. He clearly isn't as bad as everyone thinks he is or no one would want him....</div></div>

Highlighting a player's weaknesses isn't the same as saying he's bad. Whilst you and other WPG fans may feel like everyone is "bashing" Laine, we non-WPG fans feel like you are ignoring his deficiencies and expecting a return equivalent to a prime Ovi. Laine has elite scoring abilities, but he's not much use elsewhere. Can he improve? Sure. However, like any other player that is yet to prove their abilities, there is a risk attached to Laine and that affects his value. WPG fans need to accept this fact. They also need to accept that, if Laine is available, it is because WPG cannot re-sign him. That means (1) Laine doesn't want to sign in WPG, and/or (2) Laine is too expensive for WPG, and/or (3) WPG has soured on Laine. Consequently, Laine's value drops. Therefore, in any proposed trade on here for Laine, it is automatically assumed that Laine isn't being re-signed by WPG and he is valued accordingly.

If Laine does want to sign in WPG and WPG can afford/want him, then there is no trade. Simple as. There is no point in asking us non-WPG fans for 4 x 1sts or more than 4 x 1st or proven elite players or players of equivalent value + for Laine because "WPG doesn't have to move him". If WPG doesn't want to move him, he isn't available for any price and the discussion about value ends there. However, trades for Laine obviously assume this isn't the case and that he is available and the value we put on him indicates that.
