Opening Night Probably
Excited to see Lundestrom and that Swedes line in full competition. They've had good chemistry. Would prefer Jones over Comtois based on performance during preseason, but won't be disappointed to get a longer look at Comtois.

One of Jones or Comtois is sent down and Ritchie takes their spot. But I like that you have Rowney centering the 4th line. He had a career year last year and deserves the first shot at it

Rowney is a really solid fourth liner and Ritchie is wasted in a bottom-six role, even more so than Sprong in my opinion (at least Sprong can skate). I won't lose any sleep seeing Ritchie in the press box. And I don't think our D is going to be nearly as bad as we've feared all summer. Guhle and Larsson look like they're ready to at least be decent, everyday d-men and Del Zotto is a fine sixth d-man.

This is almost exactly the lineup I would ice with the players we have right now. Only change I would make is swapping Terry for Kase though Kase's chemistry with Henrique probably does make more sense. I think this lineup gives us the best chance to win and spread the offense around.

Opening Night Probably
I think this is pretty close to what we're going to see Thursday, though all the injured players are skating today so I think we can probably pencil in Steel instead of Lundestrom. I'm not sure we're going to see Kase on Getzlaf's wing (though that's what I would do). I'm starting to wonder if Ritchie is an automatic anymore. How likely is it that we see Jones AND Comtois in the line and Ritchie scratched? After Sprong got waived today, I'm not convinced Eakins is going to shoehorn Ritchie into the lineup for the sake of seniority or anything like that. I mean, I'd rather those two play over him but Ritchie seems to find his way into the lineup somehow.

Opening night roster looking clearer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icarus</b></div><div>I agree that Holzer probably wont be the final RD. Del Zotto makes more sense in the lineup and it seems like thats why they signed him. But to me Mahura and Larsson are a toss up. I thought Mahura looked solid too overall. He made some decent picks and played fairly responsibly. I expect the top 4 to stay what it is for sure while the bottom 2 could see a lot of mix and match.
And I kind of think thats why I like Terry with Getz. They think alike, play a similar game, are both really creative, but Terry actually shoots and has decent skating ability. Kase and Getz to me just doesnt make us much sense. Kase doesnt have that finished sort of style needed. He skates well and tried to find space or create opportunities on the rush.</div></div>
If it's a toss-up between Mahura and Larsson I think Larsson's experience and size give me the edge. at least to start. He's on a short leash in my opinion as this seems like a make-or-break year for him. I really like Mahura but at this stage I really think he could benefit being the guy in San Diego until inevitable injuries come around.

And shore and kase are not likely to be on that list with steel, jones, luderstrom, terry, henrique , silverberg and rakell to protect. I am
Two step ahead, seattle draft is something that no one think here but its a major concern for gm</div></div>
Yes, I specifically left Shore out of the first sentence of my original comment because he isn't a piece of the core going forward. And before you strain your shoulder patting yourself on the back for allegedly being "two steps ahead" of the rest of the world in considering the expansion draft, allow me to point out that your response to my comment is in direct conflict with the announced purpose of your Lindholm trade, which is theoretically because "with Seattle draft coming up they will either lose one of their young dmen or an established dman"; as you point out, they are much more likely to lose a forward.

Shore and Lindholm are 25 and Kase is 23. They are PART of the rebuild. And at least Kase and Lindholm should be a core part of the team for the next 5 years. And unless one of Guhle, Larsson or Mahura suddenly develops into a top-4 defender in the next 2 seasons, I wouldn't mind losing one of them if it means holding on to Fowler, Lindholm and Manson.

Dont want to get faulkd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Icarus</b></div><div>The forward line up kind of got based around the popular theme that the Rakell/Steel/Silfverberg line is expected to start the season. At the very least, Rakell and Silf + whatever center. Kase and Terry will fight to be on Getzlafs right wing. I hope Comtois makes it out of camp, but Jones also could own that spot. And I dont see shore and ritchie not in the line up (unfortunately).
I still think Buff would rather see a D or G go back then a forward. But I am fine with Kase going that way as well.</div></div>
They need a 2C (Mittelstadt has not been doing it for them), but W is also a requirement.

Ill take Lazy Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Why would anyone want him then? Everyone keeps saying all these things about him as they quietly trade for him and play him on their top line. He clearly isn't as bad as everyone thinks he is or no one would want him....</div></div>
Highlighting a player's weaknesses isn't the same as saying he's bad. Whilst you and other WPG fans may feel like everyone is "bashing" Laine, we non-WPG fans feel like you are ignoring his deficiencies and expecting a return equivalent to a prime Ovi. Laine has elite scoring abilities, but he's not much use elsewhere. Can he improve? Sure. However, like any other player that is yet to prove their abilities, there is a risk attached to Laine and that affects his value. WPG fans need to accept this fact. They also need to accept that, if Laine is available, it is because WPG cannot re-sign him. That means (1) Laine doesn't want to sign in WPG, and/or (2) Laine is too expensive for WPG, and/or (3) WPG has soured on Laine. Consequently, Laine's value drops. Therefore, in any proposed trade on here for Laine, it is automatically assumed that Laine isn't being re-signed by WPG and he is valued accordingly.
If Laine does want to sign in WPG and WPG can afford/want him, then there is no trade. Simple as. There is no point in asking us non-WPG fans for 4 x 1sts or more than 4 x 1st or proven elite players or players of equivalent value + for Laine because "WPG doesn't have to move him". If WPG doesn't want to move him, he isn't available for any price and the discussion about value ends there. However, trades for Laine obviously assume this isn't the case and that he is available and the value we put on him indicates that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Kase in his career has not scored more than Laine has in each of his first two single seasons.........
If Laine is getting crucified for being lazy and whatnot after one bad year in which he still outscored every Anaheim duck player, than Kase should be equally crucified for being made of glass. 5on5 Scoring chances /60 be damned if he can't stay healthy to perform for a long enough amount of time to earn any recognition.
<strong>Kase and a 1st is not enough for a generational scoring talent that just needs to mature, which will come with age as it does with all players.</strong></div></div>
What about for a kid who is self-entitled, expecting a big payout and not much use when he isn't scoring. If Laine is available, it's because WPG can't re-sign him. In which case, his value will be significantly less than the "generational scoring talent" you describe.

Don't dislike the trade of the D-pairings (forward line-up is weird though), but I think your valuation of Risto is a little off. You're probably looking at Kase going the other, which I am fine with personally.
