Pure Speculation
I think for everyone worried about Sprong being on the 4th line (me included), its important to remember Eakins runs 4 lines. Although shore to me is a more 2 way guy, that line can still produce. We dont have an elite first line and I dont expect it to be played as such. Getz tends to have high TOI from being on the PP, but aside from that I think we are looking at 16:00-18:00 TOI a night for top line. Second line probably matching that 16:00. So in reality, Sprong could still get 10:00-12:00 a night if it works out. I also see him getting a crack at PP and PK time.
Aside from that, Hakanpaa's preseason debut was pretty disappointing. I'm hoping its just the transition to North American ice. But if its not, he's like SD bound. I like Guhle and Fowler. Mahura would be better with Del Zotto or Holzer to start the season just for stability.

The forward line up kind of got based around the popular theme that the Rakell/Steel/Silfverberg line is expected to start the season. At the very least, Rakell and Silf + whatever center. Kase and Terry will fight to be on Getzlafs right wing. I hope Comtois makes it out of camp, but Jones also could own that spot. And I dont see shore and ritchie not in the line up (unfortunately).
I still think Buff would rather see a D or G go back then a forward. But I am fine with Kase going that way as well.

(Unless you were comparing Hutton to Gibson in which case Gibson>>>>>>>>>>>>x100000000000000 Hutton)</div></div>
Risto and Fowler could work maybe. But honestly I am going into this with the mindset that anything that were "guarantees" in the last year or two are no longer such. Its a transition period. We're under a new coach, a brand new system, and had a mix-up our forwards. No more Getz and Perry, no more shut down line of cogs/kes/silf. I know Fowler & Manson have had issues previously but who knows next year?
And I wasn't trying to compare Faulk to Risto. I was mostly saying "Ristos numbers look a lot worse without goaltending." Faulk has solid numbers playing in front of Ward, Mrazek and etc.

I can see that, but they are honestly pretty stacked on the wing. Skinner, Reinhart, Johansson, Okposo, Sheary, Vesey, Thompson, Larsson etc.
I'd be okay with losing sprong in this trade though. I like sprong a lot, but he's wasted on the 4th line. But he is definitely lower than Silf, Kase, and Terry on the depth chart.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>The Kings are definitely shopping Quick. There's just not a market for him right now due to his sub-par performance this season. They won't pay to get rid of him, but they'll certainly be willing to move him if someone offers up a package.
More likely, Campbell gets traded this season and Quick gets taken by Seattle in the expansion draft.</div></div>
If I was Columbus, I would 100% be making calls on Quick and Campbell. Without a real goaltender at this point, spending 5.8 Mil on Quick while he's affordable is totally worth the risk. They could still may above market price with a couple decent picks and a young player. I'm sure they rather see if Quick can improve his stock, but losing him to Seattle would be way worse.

It would take a high price to pry him away from the Kings, and they likely wouldn't trade him within the division should they decide to.
Jack Campbell is probably a better goaltender to target. He could probably be acquired for a 2nd round pick.</div></div>
I forgot Petersen is also an RFA. He's definitely staying over campbell. But I also wouldnt be surprised if kings shop quick.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEmphatic1</b></div><div>The problem is that goalies better than Korenar, lets say an experienced veteran goalie, would probably be asking more than what Korenar's contract is which is near league minimum. The Sharks being cap strapped, it might be difficult to fit another battle tested goalie that can challenge and push Jones for similar money. Also, the problem is TEAM DEFENSE. Not so much Jones. Don't get me wrong, he left a lot of softies in, but if the Sharks just played better team defense, Jones should have better numbers. I felt Jones was left stranded when high liabilities like Burns and EK65 were aggressive in offense and an unlucky turnover happened for example.</div></div>
I wouldnt say that you need a goalie that can push Jones, mostly just allow him time off if he needs it. Jones was top 5 in Games Played amongst goalies last year but had the worst SV% of the top 10.
That's despite all but Vlassic being positive and putting up solid numbers. The D does play way too aggressively and leaves a lot of odd man rushes and bad opportunities still. But I think Jones would benefit from having a fall back when his game slumps. You can get a Ward or Neuvrith for 1 Mil. There aren't too many fringe starters otherwise.

Sharks really need a better back up than Korenar given how inconsistent Jones was last season. I'd pass on Johansson and get a slightly cheaper winger. Marleau will likely take 1 mil for the sharks run. Use another mil and get Ward or Petersen if possible.

I think its a good trade for both teams. Carolina gets a veteran center and we get a young veteran RD.
I dont like the idea of Sam Steel taking second line duties quite yet though. I'd let shore or grant take that on for now and let Steel play 3rd for a bit longer and see if he can make the transition over the season.

Barebones Ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>I know others will probably disagree, but I like it. We could use a top 4 RD, but you've also got to think about what is available. Myers could be signed for a tonne of money (I don't like), but anyone else that is good is going to cost you in a trade. Therefore, if you're giving up assets for a #4 RD, what do you in 2 years at the Seattle expansion draft? I guess with Getzlaf and Kesler having NMCs, we're probably going to be paying Seattle something to draft XX for us anyway.
We'll see. Wouldn't be against adding Risto to the roster, assuming the price was reasonable.
Exactly! So stacked we can't even get them all in.</div></div>
I think people are sleeping on Jordie Benn, though he is stronger on LD than RD. McQuaid and Heed are also available and relatively decent veteran RD. But the long term solution is investing drafting and acquiring young RD. We have so few in the system so we are going to be in bad shape sooner rather than later.

Duchene can't sign for more than 7 years as a UFA. And 10 Mil would be risky since we get an extra hit next season from the Perry buyout (6Mil opposed to 2Mil this year). I think trying for 8 to 9 for 7 years would be safer, thought still a long shot. I would also avoid Stralman as he's going to get paid over 4 Mil for stats that look better on Tampa. Solid resigns.

My concern with giving them Kase is that they will expect him to look for a pay raise in 2021. He looks great now but isn't good long term. Ritchie will stay cheap. But I agree that Kase is way more attractive. Which is why I added Lundestrom.

Henrique for a 2020 2nd is a very odd choice. You're dumping salary and using none of it really. 17 mil (11 with Kes) is a lot to do nothing with.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garitjax</b></div><div>Have to disagree. I think thats the cart before the horse. Its also rumored that they want Duchene big time. They'd have to move guy to make that work. Also why add Rico when youbhave Turris. Theyre pretty similar. Thats lateral at best.</div></div>
Acquiring Henrique makes Turris more expendable. I think Henriques brings more to the table in general and could do well in the Preds system. Solid veteran, great leadership, and good on both ends of the ice. And really if the Preds do manage to bring in Duchene, Bones or Turris needs to go. Bonino is getting paid too much to be on the 4th line. I think being able to move turris for picks and prospects makes plenty of sense. But I do see this deal happening ONLY if the Preds can't sign Duchene. Though in reality I don't see PK going to a small hockey market.
