TOR - OldNYIfan counter offfer

Yes, Kadri may be better than Bailey but JB did put up 60 and 70 over last 2 years with JT, can play either side in top 9, allows you to move Nylander to 3C to replace Kadri and with Mayfield replacing Zaitzev you are getting a better player at 1/3 of the price. Not to mention the 1st rounder and the cap space you need to bridge Johnson and possibly resign Gardiner. I dont think its that far off but open to suggestions to even it out. You would have to take some $$ back somewhere, you want Ladd instead? LOL

Value is Probably off but I think theres something to this
I have to disagree with this move. We only include one of those guys for elite wing or center. We have depth at LD already and the system Trotz installed along with their current play doesnt dictate a move at D. We need guys that put pucks in the net, we are not having issues stopping them from going in.
I would look to put a package around one of them for players like RNH, Rakell, Zucker, or Saad.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>Finally an isles fan....
Clearly wouldn’t be moved during the season but what is he worth in the off season in realistic Lou terms?</div></div>
Lou and Trotz requires fundamentally sound players that dont deviate from the system. I think Mayfield plays very well under that structure. With that said, we need top 4 scoring wing that can play with Barzal. Dont know if Kap is that guy, I honestly havent seen him play. Think the Isles could be convinced to package Mayfield into a larger deal to get higher caliber player.

Isles have no interest in trading Mayfield. He has blossomed this year. Cheap contract, plays physical game, avg 19min and +16. I would say that makes him more than viable...

Lou goes back to where it began - NJD
While I would normally agree, this team has something. They play with passion, structure, have top defense and goaltending. If they could clean up special teams and give Barzy someone to put the puck in the net, they are serious contenders THIS YEAR! Hickey and Ladd come back soon, that gives us depth for free. We had exceptional draft last year and with Lee, Nelson, Ebs and Lehner all UFA, Lou may blow it all up either way... F... It and lets go for it!

Cant Sit Still this TDL
I dont see Lou moving anyone - need depth for the playoffs. Ebs is starting to heat up, knows the system and has great chemistry with Lee and Nelson. Hickey and Pelech can rotate out as the 7th D-man - you dont lose much with either. I would target a goal scorer like Dzingel or SImmonds. Barzal needs a finisher and Beau is just not getting it done. Ladd is also going to be back in few weeks which should bring some more secondary scoring if he can stay upright...

Islanders Trade
I based my comments on couple factors:
1. It was assumed in the post that extension is included
2. Nelson's importance to Isles and how he is viewed by the organization
3. His performance this year
He is 1 / 2C on this team, on pace for 60 pts and has stepped up his game considerably with Trotz's guidance and trust. While I agree, he may be a 2 / 3C on other teams deep at center but with these in mind, I think the Isles need to blown out to consider trading him. Just my opinion...

That is not getting you Nelson. Isles will be resigning him, Trotz loves his game. It would cost either Dellandrea or Robertson.

Not gonna give all that up. How about this - BVR, Mayfield, Pelech, 2019 2nd and 2020 1st. Thats (3) NHL players, all very productive and on great contracts + 2 picks and no retention on your guys. Maybe throw in Dal Colle if i had to.

No they didnt, they gave up a top prospect and 2nd, 3rd and 6th round picks. With the salary retention, this is more than fair deal - look at the Tatar and Kane deals.

I think they would have to consider it. Willy is an elite play maker that could either play RW or 2C. With the other moves mentioned here, I think its very compelling...

Perry is gone almost the whole season so I don't think they would worry immediately.</div></div>
Would you take Anders Lee and Jordan Eberle (w/ $3m retained) for Silverberg, Steel and one of Terry, Mahura or Comtois? Gives you the room to still sign Ritchie.

Lee trade to ANA - using Patch trade for comparison
I think this trade fits into the rebuild plans for next couple years. Steel will eventually be the 2C we need and Silverberg plays in all situations, offsets some of the production lost by Lee and makes us stronger on the right side (which we need now) st a cheaper cost. Also gives us more room to make offer to Panarin he cant refuse.
I think the ROR comparison is off because he is a 1C and they are more valuable.

I am not blaming JT for anything, please re-read ,my post. I am disappointed in how it all went down. I am a fan of the NY Islanders, I am not an owner or GM or anything and just like you are a fan of the Caps, if you cant understand what its like to root for a F...d up organization, I don't know who could. Congrats on your cup win, well deserved....
