Game 1 lineup
i agree, motte has been really good on the pk and winning puck battles though. I wish they would scratch jeannot but I dont think that will happen but who knows, they did last season. I think its more likely that ABB and merela fight for the spot in the middle six and one will replace the other if they have a bad game. I will also say that I think at this point I would rather have ABB practing with the lightning over playing games in Syracuse because he isnt going to get any better dominating in the AHL. For Merela you could make the argument it could help him adjust to the the north american game.

TDL move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boltsfan71</b></div><div>we need a clear cut top 6 player badly, not more depth</div></div>
Sprong scored at a 57 point pace last year with the Kraken, spending most of his 5v5 time with the middle-6 types like Ryan Donato, Brandon Tanev, and Morgan Geekie. This move sends out next year's 2nd, a 4th three years away, and an AHL tweener to get him back at a $1M price tag - as OP said, the Bolts' goal should be to try and find more under-the-radar types at the deadline because they don't have enough future assets to get the guys that will be at the top of the market.
I mean, look at the picks and prospects Tampa has left to offer - when you add in their cap situation, how do you think they're going to be able to bring in any cheap players that are also legitimate top 6 guys?

Stamkos
I can't see TB doing this tbh, and it's not for the pieces in the trade.
Goyette and the first are lucrative assets I don't doubt, but if we're casting him off to the Kraken just for him to sign a deal for only $6M over 4 years? We've got the space to sign him to that. No reason for him to agree to the same offer in Seattle and pack his whole life up when he could (or could have) just sign the same thing in Tampa.

Barabanov is a very good supporting cast kind of guy, above average passer good along the boards etc, so I would pair him with snipers/ scorers.

Same move but with Motte
Tampa should not be doing that. We can get a better player for that package. Howard is our best prospect, BB is gonna be in the NHL this year either as a depth forward or a top 6 guy. If i was to go after Duclair, the most i would give up is a lesser prospect like Jack Thompson or Roman Schmidt and a pick and then pay another team a mid round pick to retain the 50% needed to be cap compliant

Vote and comments obviously show people got no clue how good Hagel has been with Tampa.
He's no middle six winger, he's a top six winger, and we haven't even seen the best of him yet.
Awesome deal, extremely happy about this one.

Love this deal for Hagel and the TBL. Extremely underrated player. His 2-way game is amazing. Could you squeeze his expiry RFA year, SURE. But you risk so much more in the long run. Lock him up. It's not like TBL has any decent prospect coming up.

Ur too funny man, so upset for no reason. Ur whole argument was he didn’t play a full season until he was 29 and that’s simply not true lol

Tampa with Tatar
Tatar should sign soon or he may price himself out of the NHL. He may have to play in the KHL next season. This is bargain hunting season for GM's. Suter took less AAV to get a 2 year deal.
But he's younger than Tatar. I wouldn't want to be an unsigned 32 year old UFA this time of year. Teams have spent their cap. Tatar might be getting some bad agent advice. 🤔

IMO Tatar would be a good signing for most teams. He might like one more run at the Cup with the Lightining. If the cap works....seems like a good deal for Tampa too.

Some fixes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Colton seemed to have the tools and ability to be a top 6 player, but was never given that opportunity. Averaging approx 20 goals and 40 points the last two years playing 12 minutes a night with less than top talent seemed to indicate the ability was there. Tampa had the money to.pay him, but JBB seemed to get tunnel vision on Jeannot, and that cost the team a better player in Colton. Tampa further compounded things by only buying one ufa year for Jeannot.
They have, as of now, no top 6 replacement for Killorn, as Sheary is not that guy, and Jeannot certainly isn't. They could have as much as 1.9 available to bring in a better F, or 2.6ish if they are willing to go with 21 on the roster if they trade Myers and send down the current 13th F. The loss of Killorn was expected, as Colton seemed the logical and capable player to move up, but now the team is considerably weaker offensively in the middle 6, and they've sacrificed two key role players for Jeannot and one draft pick that may be of help in 3 years(not to mention 5 additional draft picks that could've been used for other trades or to help replenish a rather empty prospect pool).
All JBB has been saying is that it's about win now and the moves he makes are to give the team the best chance to do that, but this whole Jeannot situation, from the cost paid to acquire him, to losing two better players because he became the priority, to the poor term and aav on the extension, indicates otherwise.</div></div>
Brisebois has his mind set on a plan clearly, but I think that plan has been a faulty one right after the Hagel trade, even though it panned out relatively well with Hagel breaking into a legitimate top-6 winger. After that questionable move, it's been a questionable decision after another and so on.
I'm afraid he might have lost the plot. Tampa's window is closing, and some of his decision have played a part in it.
That being said, even if they had lifted Colton to a top-6 role I'm not sure if it would've changed much. Colton at best would be a replacement for Killorn (maybe), and they'd still have a hole to fill (although I do like the Sheary add).

Abb scores at an elite rate in the AHL. Nobody has been better the last few years. Fortier has almost no offensive IQ.

New to this v1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Welcome to the site! In regards to your lineup, I don't see Tampa going after another bottom 6 or 4th line F with the available cap space they have/can still create. They also likely won't run a 23 player roster, but 22(or even 21 if they have to). I would hope they are still looking for a middle 6 winger that can be effective in a top 6 role, such as Tatar. Other options could include Comtois or Boqvist perhaps. Trading for a winger with retention that's entering their final year, such as Niederreiter or Kubalik(may not need much, if any retention with Kubalik) could also be an option.</div></div>
Fair. I'm a fan of Motte's game but I'm also realizing he is probably worth closer to an even million. Regardless, if I was to predict what JBB is going to actually do, it would be something closer to what you suggest. I think we stand pat and go into the season filling that 4th line role with one of the AHL guys (Koepke, Merela, Goncalves?), and grab somebody at the deadline. Whether we're going to need to add to the Forwards or the Defense at that point, I'm not sure yet. Niederreiter would be an amazing acquisition for the middle six, but I feel like he will be expensive and we're not exactly swimming in assets.

this is true but he has been on a scoring line before in his first season, didnt work out great but he was younger then and maybe might be ready for it now. Just whatever they do they need to put him with high skill/ intensity players even if its just guys like eyssimont or goncalves, if they put him with maroon or jeannot they will be setting him up to fail. They just dont fit his playstyle and thats what makes me even more high on him is that in that most previous stint of 14 games he was essentially on a 2 man line, it was him and joesph, they had good chemistry and maroon just looked so out of place

Id give them both a spot, ABB in his most recent stint put up 5 in 14 and was averaging 11:20 a night, honestly not bad. I mean we gave verheghe 52 games before calling him a bust and ABB has only played 32 games total with his biggest stint only being 15 games.

Having either Killorn or Colton moving ahead would seem to be far better than seeing Jeannot on the team.</div></div>
Agreed. The worst case scenario in my mind now is if Killorn doesn't resign, and Jeannot gets way more money than everyone is anticipating. I still am reserving judgement on Jeannot, along with other reasonable people. Yeah Julien gave up a boatload, but TJ will have a great opportunity to prove his worth this year. But yeah I wouldve much rather preferred to keep Colton. Jeannot would have been nice to get, if it wasn't for so damn much
