Duhaime would be good for a playoff team. Merrill.. I have no idea why Vancouver supposedly would want him. Supposedly Russo said they were interested. To be fair, he's not terrible if his minutes are limited. He's fine in a pinch for bottom pairing duties, but I just don't see him as being a dman suited for playoff style hockey so that's why it sounds odd to me that supposedly Vancouver is interested.
Tarasenko isn't staying in Minnesota, they're just retaining 25% and sending him to a contender that needs scoring. In this case, I said Vegas because they have some room with Stone being out.

Absolutely no chance the Wild remotely consider that. First they'd need Middleton if they're trying to go for it, which trading for Guentzal would imply. Second their team is worse than the team they had last year when they didn't move a top prospect or a 1st for any rental help so it doesn't make any sense for them to do it this year. If they want Guentzal for next year, they'll either talk to his agent July 1st or trade considerably less to whoever gets him as a rental to get his rights in June to try to negotiate before he hits the open market.

Sounded like Maroon was supposed to be out just past the TDL, if I'm not mistaken. He should be back for the home stretch and any potential playoff games.

Has this been said recently? The most recent thing I've seen is Guerin saying Fleury has earned the right to decide and they'll have that conversation soon, but that was just within the last week he said that and I haven't seen anything since. My guess was they'd chat a couple days before the deadline and see where the team is at in the standings before making a decision.

That’s probably about the extent of what the Wild do at the deadline, though I’m guessing they’d keep Duhaime for depth and not ask for retention since they have Spurgeon’s LTIR pool to work with.

No chance the Wild give up a capable top 4 dman on a deal they can afford next year to take on another $2m+ bottom 6 player they don't need in Kampf. They don't need Robertson either with the wingers they have and will need to find a place for in the next year. The 1st doesn't make it worth it.

Preds Deadline
Only way I could see the Wild doing that is if they have any clarity on what Spurgeon's future looks like and if an extension would work. Since they're unlikely to any idea what Spurgeon's future is until later this summer at the absolute earlier, the most I can see them doing this deadline is looking at cheap plugs to try to upgrade their defense if they can get back into a playoff spot.

Minnesota needs what again? Say it with me, now. A top six center. What has Rossi become and proven himself to be this year? A top six center.
He's NOT available. For any price, as there's no package NYR can put together that gets them to consider moving him.</div></div>
This is the type of deal that might have made some level of sense BEFORE the season when Rossi was still a bit of a question mark and the idea of getting a 1st to essentially get a do-over on the pick might have been something the Wild would consider. That ship has sailed, they're not trading Rossi for a pick 2 drafts from now when they'll need an effective player in 2025 to convince Kaprizov they're able to contend and he should extend. IMO most if not all of their decision making will be focused on building a team that has a chance then, when the dead cap drops.

I'd say this is one of the worst recent Wild trades I've seen on here, but someone just posted a JEEK to the Avs trade so the bar was drastically shifted to make this seem kinda reasonable by comparison.

If Wild fall out of playoff picture TDL
There is absolutely no chance if the Wild are out of a playoff spot they trade a player signed long term on an absolute steal of a contract. Best we can offer is a slightly used Flower and it’s looking more like they’re going to just keep him and keep pushing for a playoff spot at this point.

Yeah, a 3rd and a 4th doesn’t even start the conversation. He’s playing top 4 minutes and signed for another year at a good cap hit. It would probably take a 1st to get the Wild to consider simply because they need him.

Pretty sure Yurov just signed a 1 year extension with his KHL team, but you could basically swap Khusnutdinov for him in this scenario since it sounds like he still might debut in North America before this season ends.

Some GM might give a 1st but it wouldn’t be the Wild where they’re at in the standings and with how Guerin has approached trades so far. Earliest I could see them considering trading a 1st is 2 years from now when the dead cap drops to a negligible amount and they have a better idea which current prospects are going to pan out.

I’m confused why the Wild considers this. If they trade Fleury, it’s because they’re giving up on the season and if that’s the case, why drop back a round in the draft for a goalie they won’t need?

And considering I'll be surprised if the Wild keep Jones this summer, you could probably just have him for free in July if you really wanted him. No idea why the Sabres would remotely consider this, curious why OP included it.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say, do you think it will be a problem for the Wild? They won't be able to make a splash at free agency (thank god), but they're actually in better shape next year than they were this year so they'll be fine. Faber and Rossi being productive roster players has really helped. Assuming they either go with Wallstedt as their backup or a cheap veteran, having around $4.5m in goaltending will help compared to the ~$7m they have this year, as well as the projected cap increase.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyManiac95</b></div><div>Thx. Just a thought. Is it JEE, Flower, or both?</div></div>
JEEK. There isn't a deal that makes any sense for him. The Wild are having a bad season and next year might not be any better, but they need him for the year after when some of their prospects will be ready and they need to show Kaprizov they're serious about being able to content to extend him. Trading JEEK now because of a bad season or two given his age and contract situation is incredibly dumb.
Flower on the other hand probably isn't available today, but if they can't turn it around in the next couple weeks and he wants to go play for a contender down the stretch, I'm sure Guerin would accommodate whatever trade he's willing to waive his NMC for. Given that, I'd be surprised if they get a 3rd for him. Very surprised.

Assuming MAF waives his NMC to get one last playoff run in, I don’t imagine the Wild will get much for him considering he controls his destination and it would basically be Guerin doing him a favor. Maybe a 3rd? Maybe?
