Team USA
Who other than Jones or Carlson makes the team ? As much as I love the youth of this team, there’s no way they don’t include some veteran experience other than McDonough on the backend. You’d have to understand by reluctance to a comment about Charlie McAvoy made by a person who’s username is literally CMcAvoy73 😂

As a King fan, I don’t mind this deal. I believe it’s close but probably an NHL ready D-man to replace Chuychern right away. Maybe Bjornfot or Clague or both. Just spit balling here. I also don’t believe they ever trade Akil Thomas. I think they’re really high on him and would sacrifice most of their other prospects before trading himself

Team USA for 2022
I don’t think that many veteran forwards make it. The Thachuk brothers are all the grit you need so I think Nelson and Oshie don’t make it. It’s either Wheeler or Pavelski and not both. As much as I love McAvoy I believe Foxes Norris catapults him above McAvoy. I would go with Slavin-J.Carlson, Werenski-Jones, McDonough-Fox. McAvoy-Q.Hughes being your extra pair. I think that’s how it ends up or close to it

If you’re going to insult someone, do so using proper English. Idk if u just started skool but you’re English is subpar. Typical Sabre fan, which is laughable so let’s get that right. I said he will be, I didn’t say right now but then again you’re bit behind in English so I’ll forgive that one. The laughable part is as much as you believe that, Dahlin may not want to stay there long term so even if that’s the case, good luck with that. Especially in that type of environment, Dahlin won’t get to that level as fast as you’d like him to be. Byfield is going to be on another level soon and if not then, he will eventually be on another level even above Dahlin. Good luck with your organization. Owen Powers doesn’t even want to come there this year even though he could step right into the NHL. Now that’s laughable

I don’t disagree that Clarke could end up as good as Dahlin but he hasn’t had the healthiest environment to succeed in either. I think within a few years he’ll develop into one of the best defenseman in the league. He has a lot to contend with though so only time will tell. Either way, as a Kings fan I’m glad we have Clarke and are extremely loaded on the right side of the defense and this move overall was of course about addressing the left handed defenseman that Blake had talked about previously. Werenski, Hughes, Heiskenen all won’t be available anytime soon so this seems like the safest bet. Other than maybe Sanheim or Girard who I both like and maybe Girard could be available for a price since they have Makar, Toews, and Byram on the rise. Especially since he’s signed long term

You’re using not on the block as if the teams have as much control over the players as they used to with RFAs but as we’ve seen with PLD and the like, players can force trades if they’d like or essentially make things as uncomfortable as possible to do so. You’d only have to look across the locker room in Buffalo to understand this concept. I wouldn’t be worried so much as Dahlin not wanting to stay long term for obvious reasons so if Adams understands this, the package I recommend could still be considered a win for Buffalo all things considered. I could have prefaced this trade with that information but didn’t so I am now

If Buffalo somehow got Byfield in that deal, you wouldn’t get much else. He’s essentially going to be better than every player not named Eichel this year, maybe next. The fact you’d want Clarke and next years first (unprotected) plus more is laughable

Who else would you suggest ? 3 - 1st round picks is a pretty steep price for a 1st overall pick who hasn’t succeeded in a less than desirable environment the way people would hope. Especially when as successful as Eichel has been, they were asking 4 - 1st round picks. Plus, Dahlin like a lot of RFAs seems unwilling to sign long term so that should also be a cause for concern

21-22 Opening Roster
I think that since Bjornfot is waiver exempt and so is JAD, that they’re sent down to start the season. It’s not ideal but Clague isn’t waiver exempt and I think they showcase Lizotte until a possible trade and bring up JAD after the fact. I know those 2 young players are heavily trusted by the Kings coaches and organization but it’s a numbers game at this point it appears. I could be totally wrong but I guess we’ll wait and see

Dude, Vancouver would certainly need to be good offensively with a defense like that. They leave a lot to be desired in my opinion. Plus, we have Edler to tell us all of Vancouver’s secrets. Lol

Peterson had really good numbers up until those games at the end of the season facing the offensive juggernaut of Colorado. He would give up maybe 4 goals but also face like 45 shots. His underlying stats are really good, especially on a lackluster Kings team. If only he had a frame like Vasy or Price but all’s well, he’s similar in size to Lundqvist and Fleury and we know how well their careers went

Left D candidates
I believe Arizona will build around Chuychern and the only way Arizona would listen is if Byfield is in the conversation. I think instead of Byram, Girard would be a great add. By the end of next season he will be 24 with 4 full seasons of experience and is signed for another 5 years at 5 million a season. He’s going to be overshadowed by Makar and they could trade him because they have Byram waiting to step in. I would love Hanifin and at 25 with like 7 years of experience he’d be perfect. In that age window and would be great because he has size at 6’3 when essentially our whole defense core is around 6’0 and 200 lbs. lastly, as an older option but not by much is Morgan Reilly. He’ll be 28 and has some offensive instincts and would probably learn how to play better defensively with Doughty there. I also think it’d be good because he would be a great support for Doughty but in no way overshadow him. Those would be my 3 choices. Extra choice would be Travis Sanheim

Macdermid as far as his playing ability is concerned is as close to the definition of a pilon as you can have. And I actually really like him. He’s 6’5 with a long reach but he’s pretty lumbering when it comes to skating ability. There was talk of converting him to a forward but idk about that. He’s a true heavyweight and can be very intimidating. When he played in the AHL he led the league in Penalty minutes I believe. He’s has a long reach that makes it harder on other fighters to land or deflect punches so I think fans will take a liking to him and all his teammates will love him. Check out some fights he had with Lucic from a year or two ago. They were awesome and barn burners to say the least

I’d also move Kempe to The 2nd line and put Lias Andersson with Iafallo and Vilardi since that line had chemistry. Plus, Grundstrom with JAD and Moore because they had good chemistry as well and maybe insert Kupari on that line through the season too. Maybe Lizotte as the 13th forward to switch with JAD at times if necessary. Not a juggernaut but in a weakened Pacific division they could make playoffs and then anything can happen.

Turcotte, Clague and Kempe plus next year’s 1st round pick(top 3 protected) would be an interesting offer. Cozens and Turcotte as a 1/2 C could eventually be really good.

Lizotte and a 2nd round pick. Seems pretty low but if he’s just a rental than ok. I just have a hard time believing they’ll trade for Reilly without an extension which automatically raises the value going back to the Leafs

Rookie GM Kevin Adams better take this deal and run, especially if he only has this next year to trade Eichel before his NMC kicks in. Eichel has a 10 million cap hit, Quick and Maata have a 9.1 or so cap hit combined so they are necessary cap wise to balance it out. Plus, Maata with one year and Quick with two years is hardly inconvenient for a team that is probably the least desirable location for players to go, even more so than Detroit. Turcotte, Kupari, and a 1st rounder makes 3 first rounders coming to Buffalo which is great because that’s more 1st rounders than Ottawa got for Erik Karlsson so I’m taking that as a GM

Thread:
Kings Current optimal lineup after moving Iafallo
I have to preface this with that I like this lineup and have a difficult time changing anything but since it’s a non reality that has no consequences, why not. With Iafallo traded of course. I like Matt Luff and can only surmise that Wagner has become a favorite of McClellan is why he plays so much more than Luff. Even though they just placed him on waivers , I’d insert Frk into the lineup and put him on Vilardis wing because they had great chemistry in the AHL and I’d say it’s more important to get Vilardi going/comfortable then dealing with either Luff or Wagner so I’d take either out for Frk. Id also reinsert Lizotte for Anderson. Lizotte has good chemistry with AA and Carter it seems and Anderson has a long term outlook with the team where I don’t think the same about Lizotte. In turn, this puts Lemieux on Vilardi and Frks wing which seems bizarre other than the fact Lemieux and Vilardi played some juniors together so more comfortability for Vilardi. All this said, it’d be kopitars line for first line, Carter’s line for second, Vilardis for 3rd to ease his responsibility/ competition and Moores for 4th line if you wanted a textbook breakdown of what each line is in the lineup. There’s probably some room argument over this idea but it’s how I’d look at it. Again I’m not McClellan so there’s no consequences if I’m wrong. lol
