That’s fair, just feel like none of those guys have the ceiling of Boeser

That’s why there is retention in this proposed deal. Boeser at 5 million because a much more valuable asset.

If VAN moves Demko, maybe they can work something around Markstrom for Boeser instead, that’s if Markstrom is agreeable to going back to VAN</div></div>
I’d probably do the two seconds but in that case wouldn’t retain on Boeser

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>Well thats the thing, the Canucks have too many wingers. Hoglander hasn't had any success as a bottom 6 winger, his game isn't suited to it at all, and the Canucks have 5 or 6 guys above him on the depth chart. He's going to be put through waivers again next season when a team could have him for free or next to. There's very little value there and definitely not someone like Niemala who's expected to be an NHL player.
The reality with Hoglander is he had an ok rookie season but has been worse every season since. He's a very small winger who's having a lot of trouble playing at the NHL level. His future as an NHL player is in doubt and he likely needs more time in the AHL to figure it out. Problem is he needs waivers to get there so a team could have him for free next year. His return is going to look like what Connor Timmins got if someone wants to jump the waiver line.</div></div>
You may be correct in saying his trade value is down but there is zero chance a team could get him for free next season. He has proved that he is a legit NHL and won’t be getting waived and losses for nothing.

2 seasons as an elite goalie. Contract is a steal. Assuming he’s healthy every team would want him

That’s true now, but at the time Milller was a 99 point center on a great contract and Chytil was struggling to fit in with the Rangers. Easy to look back and laugh at it but at the time it was definitely on option

Calling Demko a project is pretty laughable, he’s a top 10 goalie in the NHL on a below market deal with term. But I could understand why his injury history would scary teams

Keeping Depth Adds
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KennyBoi</b></div><div>Nah I disagree. It should only make sense to move the 1st if they do, otherwise I would rather see them keep it since the draft will be deep and their prospect pool is pretty shallow. I don't want to see them move it for the sake of moving it because they are "all in", whatever that means.</div></div>
Obviously it has to make sense to trade their first I’m not saying just give it away. Just the marginal value of a first round pick that’s gonna help you out 3 years down the line doesn’t come close to a guy who could put your top 6 or top 4 over the top. That’s much more value to the bruins

Because it could be there only chance to get him. Given the retool rhetoric around the Canucks, if Demko comes back and plays wel for the rest of the season management would be likely to hang on to him

There is so reason why the bruins should be holding on to there first rounder this year, if there has ever been a year for any team to go all in it would be this one

Demko to Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Here’s the problem I see with all of the recent hourly Thatcher-Demko-to-Los-Angeles trade ideas:
Demko was horrible this year, almost undoubtedly due to his hip injury. So no prudent GM in the NHL would make a decision on whether Thatcher Demko had made a full recovery from his injury and surgery, and therefore whether his team should trade for him or what, on the small sample of 12 games the Canucks play before the trade deadline. When he returns from rehabbing that injury, and plays the last third of the season, one of two things will happen:
1. Either he will display his earlier form, in which case why would Vancouver trade him; or
2. He will not show any improvement, in which case why would Los Angeles want him?
Anyone who believes that a competent GM would take the risk of investing significant assets in Thatcher Demko should research the history of why Jake Oettinger is tending goal for the Dallas Stars. And Vancouver fans will recall what caused the premature end of Ryan Kesler’s career.
People need to stop dreaming that the Kings will trade Cal Petersen with substantial assets for Thatcher Demko anytime soon. We will all have to wait until draft day to see what the respective values of the two goalies are. And one asset you WON’T be getting is our 2023 first-round draft pick.</div></div>
I agree any Demko trade is much more likely in the off-season

He’s their best penalty killer, leads the nhl in hits and plays in all key defensive situations. You clearly don’t watch the game he’s a solid player. Would make most 3rd pairs in the nhl better
