Typically, players also get paid more on their second contracts at 27.</div></div>
Not anymore Matthews 11.5 Mcdavid 12 Leo 8 kucherov 9.5 aho 8.5 to be point Nylander all got paid a lot young. Marner is next and no way he takes less than Matthews who he is BETTER than. Wasn’t it reported that he turned down 11.5

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sebahhh</b></div><div>Marner is the only winger out of those 4. Centers get paid more, for the longest time it has been that way. Marner is playing with a much better finisher in Tavares than Aho who played with Justin Williams and Nino. Marner's highest goal total is 26, so you know a lot of points are from Tavares finishing. Matthews has been plagued with injury in the last 2 seasons, his goal total was always on pace to surpass his 40-goal rookie season (and he just had 73 points, 37 goals in 68 GAME, you need to think about what he was on pace for). He is a pure sniper that will hit 50 in multiple seasons. Also just announced that Canes will match and Aho will get $8.4M over 5.</div></div>
How about this for a comp. the bread man just got 11.7 as a 27 year old playmaking winger. Marner is younger and arguably on par with him.

Did you know matthews has only gotten to 73 points as his HIGHEST scoring year. And thats fine, Ahos contract is what it is, but it isnt officially a deal yet until carolina matches or declines to match. Marner has 27 more points over his career playing 1 less game. had 13 more points this year as well.</div></div>

Kucherov signed that deal BEFORE he put up 128 points aho is in a market that can’t pay that much money marner is on a team that he has LEAD in point the last two year and you think he is going to take less than Matthews and Tavares when he has outplayed them for TWO years. No he is getting 10.5 11 or else he would’ve signed already wake up and smell the coffee

Chara is old. You replaced gardiner with ceci and hainsey (better defensively than barrie) with barrie. BOTH guys that you just got back in trades are on expiring deals. spezza played pretty bad for the stars last year talk about not getting younger hes 38? Kerfoot may have had as many points as kadri, but he dropped ice time and his shooting percentage dropped from 15% to 8.7%. The only difference is, you know kadri is a 50 point player. Kerfoot has been in the league 2 years playing behind mackinnon, do we know what kerfoot is? shot 23% year 1 12% year 2. FO % 42% year 1 56% year 2.</div></div>

Kadri's minutes dropped off behind Matthews and Tavares, he was not as effective. With Spezza, the Leafs' center depth becomes Matthews-Tavares-Kerfoot-Spezza, which is JUST as good. Marner will get paid, that is not even a question, he'll sign in the 9-9.8M range. The top 4 D has dramatically improved, the Leafs had HAINSEY as a 1RD last season. Chara, Bergeron, Marchand, Krejci aren't getting any younger or better lmao.</div></div>

Meant to have Heinen on 3rd line kuhlman could be very good on 4th line with Kuraly he matches his speed and grinding ability with some scoring touch. I’d be fine with Heinen coyle kuhlman though

I agree and didn’t say coyle but I’d rather deal with that down the line then have mcavoy sit out because we can’t afford him. Can flip a pick for a center at the deadline or something. It’s tricky and messy and I’m just bringing a conversation to the light I wouldn’t trade Krejci. But they are in a pickle

Cap space gone
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Foppa21</b></div><div>Can't look at it like that. Yeah, the window is definitely opening, if not open, right now. But if you just throw money around without thinking about it, then you get into a situation like Vegas or Nashville where you literally have to give away really good players for nothing. Take a look at the Subban trade. You just don't want that, especially with what's coming in Byram/Newhook/Kaut/Bowers/Timmins</div></div>
I totally agree just thought it was awesome they could potentially do it for a little window they have to win before mackinnon contract is up cause he is getting 13+

Look I love Wagner as much as the next guy but he showed at the tail end of the year he is not as productive on the third line. Think the pressure gets to him a little. Let him run around and score on the fourth line. Unfortunately that means one of our 4th lines has to ride pine. I say don’t sign accari but kuhlman needs to be on that third line or Heinen or bjork just not a 4th liner
