A Somewhat Reasonable Look At Pittsburgh
Wild accept this if the cap doesn’t exist but it may cause some issues. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did this or something similar if they moved Dumba first

The 12th pick would very likely get it done for Kirby, and I would expect him to sign somewhere in the range of 3m to 4m per year for 3 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wildnochance</b></div><div>Minnesota declines this deal</div></div>
Honestly though, it could be worth it. It locks up that RD spot for 4 additional years at a lower cap hit, gives us a RW who put up 30 points in 40 games in 2020 and Marino put up 26 in 56 in his rookie year in 2019. I think they are both players that could potentially outperform their contracts and if not, we can easily move one or both of them without them being considered a cap dump barring any major drop offs in performance.

If the Wild can sign Nichushkin to replace Greenway, I would be fine with trading Greenway to the Oilers but for picks/prospects and the Oilers send Puljujarvi elsewhere. Otherwise, I am not really interested in dishing Greenway for Puljujarvi unless we are able to upgrade a 2nd round pick to a 1st or something of similar value.

I would take that Dumba trade, but I don’t know if Guerin would. Also, I would prefer Carolina’s 2023 2nd instead of their 2022 2nd just because I wouldn’t want four 2022 2nds.

I could see that Killorn trade happening with a little bit of retained salary at the trade deadline to whatever contender wants him, but I don’t think he will get that in the offseason and I doubt the Lightning would want to hold him until the deadline if they want to move him.

I would consider
#56 and a later pick for #69/2023 flyers 3rd and one of the late 2023 3rds
or
#47 and later pick for #69 and the flyers 2023 3rd
Or maybe
#56 and #89 for all three 2023 3rds
definitely not taking essentially two #85 overall or later picks that are a year out for #47 overall.

Understandable, in that situation Wild would probably pass and try for a different C or RW on a 1 year deal and work their way down, maybe Giroux, Kessel, etc. makes sense if players don’t want the 1 year but also don’t want to lock them up for a time frame where the Wild will need to resign Boldy

Wild Trade Candidates for 2022-23
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>iAce</b></div><div>In terms of this post I think all those players are to be had at the right price. Hartman is probably the one I'd like to keep because he plays a solid game. He isn't a 1c and his post season, to me, wasn't fair to judge him on it. The post season is a different animal. I look at Tampa Bay for years lost in the first round and then made some massive moves to bring in the players that would help them get over the top. Kaprizov can do anything he wants on the ice, much like Kucherov. Wallstedt coming up might give us that lock down goalie that can steal games like Vasilevskiy. We hope we have Rossi playing like Point. Ek is similar to Cirelli. We still need pieces and the back end isn't near what Tampa's back line is. They are big and nasty. Even Colorado has size and nasty on the back end. One of my most wanted trades is Greenway to Toronto for Knies and a second/third. But I think the players above are accurate to players that might need to move. Jost is one I'd like to see what he can do with elevated time and talent.</div></div>
Is that the going price for Greenway/Knies? I actually have a trade in the drafts of Greenway for Knies but I wasn’t sure what to add or take away. I know Toronto would be looking to shed cap, so I feel like we would either need to take Kerfoot, Holl, Mrazek or they would have to be moved in advance. If thats what we could get for Greenway, I would do it right now and either try to sign Nichushkin or trade for Iafallo at the right price to complete that Ek and Foligno line. I would also like to get Robertson if that was possible

My only issue with waiting on Addison or Faber is that could result in dumba leaving in FA if you wait too long. i think Faber is sound enough defensively that he is probably a safe bet to be at worst a low end 3rd line rd. I also think with how deep the Wild are at D prospect, they could get away with one of the LD prospects and playing Goligoski or Kulikov on the right side if it comes down to it. I think its easier for them to make something work than it would be to try to milk it out for too long, but I understand your thought on it.

I wouldn’t mind this at all. I think they could make it work without trading Dumba too. They could sign Strome to a 1 year deal because he doesn’t become an UFA until 2024, wait until the trade deadline and if Strome seems like a longterm fit, sell Dumba and retain half of his cap at the deadline to a contender, or if the Wild are a contender they can ride out the season, but risk Dumba walking. If Strome doesn’t seem like a fit, sell Strome next offseason and resign Dumba. If Strome absolutely goes off and is looking at a bigger contract, they get to decide if they want to sell Strome for a haul or sell Dumba/let Dumba walk and move someone else (maybe Greenway, and put Duhaime in his spot?).
I just see so many opportunities where the Wild could benefit from this kind of trade.

I guess it would have to be after the draft and once you can sign extensions then for that to happen though.
It's going to be interesting to see what he is looking for in a contract though. Somewhere between $6 and $7M I think would be decent, especially after last offseason with Jones and Nurse signing close to 10.</div></div>
If I were guessing now, I would say Dumba would sign a 6m by 6 year extension. If this was agreed on before hand, is there any deal that you would do where the Wild could give up Dumba and pick(s) for #7 overall?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dannydanger</b></div><div>I don't think there would be a trade around Talbot and Robertson - I think Dubas opt to test the UFA market instead. I'm a huge fan of Foligno, I really think the Leafs need someone like him on their second or third line. Talbot was added to the trade just anticipating that Minny is actually going to sign MAF and that they want to clear cap space (take $6.whatever million off the books instead of just Foligno's cap). What would it take to get Greenway?</div></div>
Hard to tell, Big defensive power forward on a team friendly 3 year 3m per deal. I think I would swap him in for Foligno in the trade above and ask for a 3rd or something on top of it. I don’t see Guerin breaking up the GREEF line but if one had to go it would be Greenway. If I was in Guerin’s shoes, I wouldn’t be actively shopping Greenway but if an enticing offer came through I might be willing to take it. Another example would be if the Wild somehow landed Iafallo from trading Fiala, I would almost prefer Iafallo over Greenway on that line which would make me much more willing to move Greenway.

Can’t lie, very fair offer to Minnesota. Despite this, I think the only way I could see this happening would be if Minnesota gets very get very good offers on guys like Fiala, Dumba, Hartman, Greenway where Guerin feels like he can build a really competitive young team with all of the extra capital/prospects
Is there any chance of a trade based around Talbot and Robertson?

I would also be fine with top 7 protection and the Wild get 4th rounder that becomes a 3rd rounder if NJs pick lands in the top 7 (that third would be a top 72 pick) if Guerin doesn’t have faith in Fiala or maybe a 4th that becomes a 2nd if Fiala scores 85+ points in 2022 if Guerin has faith in Fiala.
Not sure how other MN fans or NJ fans would feel about those stipulations, but it would at least protect NJ from a loss of a top 7 pick in a deep class and give the Wild a little extra capital.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wildnochance</b></div><div>I completely understand, but Minnesota can trade fiala directly to devils and get a top c prospect 2oa</div></div>
My thought process is the number 2 pick would likely be Cooley and he would presumably not be ready for at least 1 year, maybe 2. This move would be to be able to compete immediately while also having the future in mind.
In regards to Dumba, I agree that he is probably not going to be moved, I think he should because it is going to get very tough to keep him around unless he signs for 5m or less, especially if Boldy improves next season and demands a larger contract than 6m or so, which I could see being likely.
So, despite this not being the most realistic, it was an idea to get a Fiala and Dumba replacement who will likely come with a cap hit quite a few million lower than Fiala and Dumba following them being resigned in 2023.
If Cooley was 100% NHL ready this year I would much prefer that route, but in the interest of not wasting more years of Kaprizov than we need to, I would not mind reuniting Caufield with Boldy.

Fiala had 64 points in his 51 games with Matt Boldy. Before that he was playing with essentially 3rd line players like Freddy Gaudreau, Victor Rask, and sometimes Hartman. The year before, Bonino, Marcus Johansson, Bjugstad and Parise and Rask were among his common linemates which is what resulted in his slow start in Minnesota. If Fiala was “bolstered” by Boldy and Gaudreau then imagine how much he would bolstered by playing with Hughes.

I think the trade makes sense but also straps the Wild for cap in the next few seasons where they have to resign Boldy, which could get hefty if he has a great year which Garland would help him have. I would like to see the team make a trade like this to stay competitive but it might be smarter to get prospects/picks for Dumba. If Guerin can make this trade work without hurting the future, I am interested.
