Price to STL...again
I just don't think Price is tradable. He's coming off an awful season and starting a 10 million dollar contract this year. He's also dealt with injuries his entire career. I don't think Price will fetch anything you want on the trade maket. That being said, Price is the best goalie in the league and trading him for a return you don't want is criminal. For these reasons I think Price retires a Hab.

HABS 2018-2019 with some changes i've seen floating around!
I like everything except I feel the Pacioretty trade is a little overly complicated for nothing.
If the goal is simply to get Theodore, lets remove Tatar and Lehkonen from the deal all together. (This is assuming Vegas wants to move theodore which i don't think they do but lets pretend they do and are interested in Pacioretty)
Theodore
2nd
for
Pacioretty
Reilly
3rd
I think adding Tatar is overkill considering they paid a 1st,2nd and 3rd for him just last year and I think moving Lehkonen right now is unwise. He's flirted with something special this past year but just couldn't get it going due to health and a silly low SH%. And even luck factor! Anyone who watched the games last year must of noticed the repeated posts and highlight reel saves the goalies made against especially him and even Pacioretty last year. Both guys were snake bitten and all that could of went wrong, did. They just need the slightest change in luck to see them produce. Lehkonen is cheap and poised for a breakout season. Not 30 goals but 20 is absolutely attainable for him.

I think the Habs would seriously consider that. But that only happens if MTL management has truly given up on Chucky, and I don't think they have. and I'd bet money that whoever would acquire him, puts him at Center, and they should! last time Chucky was a full-time C he was a point a game player....sigh...

MTL can't say yes to that unless picks were going back with Risto. As great as Risto is, MTL is in rebuild mode and Filip Zadina is worth more to a team in need of wingers and Centers.

I think he is a better fit for JT. Lee had 40 of the ugliest goals I have ever seen. Tips, rebounds, off his body. This what people who don't watch the Islanders get. Patches won't work with JT. JT likes to be the shooter. Likes a banger in front of the net and a pass first winger. This is why why Ladd failed to work with JT. Nelson failed to work with JT.
Patches likes to be the shooter. Needs a pass first center. JT is not that.

Hanifin, JT trade
Even if you could make that trade with Carolina, Hanifin won't lock himself in for 8 years at $5.5M. That said, he might do that amount for 3-4 years.
You're being overly generous to the NYIsles. If they start offering negotiating windows, those tend to be for lower draft picks. A first for the right to sign is a hefty price, since most teams would probably be just as happy to see him make it to July 1 without signing and not have to buy an eighth year.

All in for 2019
Carlson is RH, but this just involves shifting the D around...
OEL - Weber
Mete - Carlson
Emelin - Juulsen
Riley
Much better d-corps than we had last season...
Having said that...
No way OEL gets dealt for that package. ARZ will want more youth and term than Pacioretty (Galchenyuk?)... and that's just to start. I have a hard time believing they'll part with their franchise d-man while getting back a problem in Galchenyuk (or 1 year of Pacioretty coming off a bad season), a cap problem in Shaw who is also injured, and a 2nd rd pick. I think Galchenyuk is a good start, as is the 2nd round pick. But you'll need a really good 3rd asset to get OEL from ARZ, and not an expensive one either. I'm thinking it costs you Poehling. Even then, I'm not sure that's enough.
Alzner, Benn, Schlemko, Petry are all salary dumps... I get that. What ever we get back in return will be gravy.
I don't understand they need to trade Lehkonen for a draft pick? With all these moves, we are getting many expensive players in the lineup, why not hold on to a relatively inexpensive player in Lehkonen? He's good for 15-20 goals while making less than 1M$/yr.

Huberdeau is a winger... This doesn't help the Habs... and I don't see why FLA would do this.
And Svechnikov doesn't fall to three...
But I'll bite and pretend FLA does the deal and Svechnikov does fall to three...
I don't sign Perron. I move Huberdeau to left wing, Gallagher to the first line, Svechnikov to the 2nd line, and sign Statsny
Statsny/Brassard/Danault isn't an ideal threesome... but it's better than what we had last year.

Picking up Tkachuk
Here's the thing - if Patches was 3 years younger I think we'd take the deal and start working out an extension. But with the bulk of our core aged 25-28, and plenty of young players arriving very soon, adding Patches should be nothing more than a rental move, and I wouldn't fork over a top prospect for a rental. If Evander Kane got 7x7 I don't want to think about what Pacioretty will get, especially considering he'll want to strike a big deal at his age, so we'd be paying him 7+m for his age 30-36 years... not part of our plan.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IslesFan9</b></div><div>Giving 7 million on top of assets for a guy who put up less than 40 points last season probably isn't a good idea.</div></div>
Dude he had 1 bad season in the past 7 years. There are so many players who have had bad years only to have stud years afterwards. Remember Eric Staal's 13 goal year? Remember Giroux's 58 and Kopitar's 52 points last season?
If Pacioretty was all over the place scoring 30,15,22,19,31,12 than ok maybe but the guy has literally scored at a 30 goal pace since his first full season in the NHL. Hell with no injury this year he still could of hit high 20's...........in the worst season of his career.........without a #1 center.......on a team that can't score much.
Pacioretty has earned the right to have a mulligan year. Anyone who watched the Habs this year can see this team was absolutely terrible and hampered with injuries to all their key players. What was he supposed to do? Put up career numbers?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IslesFan9</b></div><div>Paying for what a guy has done vs what a guy will do is everything wrong with being a GM. If he is going to be so good why trade him for lotto picks?
Again coming off injury, a down season and the wrong side of 30. Why invest 7 million dollars in a guy when other guys need to paid. We just made this mistake with Ladd. We don’t need to do it again.</div></div>
Because you always have to pay for what a guy did previously. There is no way of knowing what a guy will do in the future. But if it is a matter of risk management, Pacioretty's track record speaks for itself. For all of one season he has been an elite goal scorer. There's more reason to think he'll continue to score at a high or close to rate for a long while. Staal is 33 and scored 40+....... even if Paciorett slows down at 33, 20-30 goals is still a good pace.
Its all about risk management. Pacioretty may not score another 30 goal season in his career just like Bellows may end up being another Dal Colle....... Nothings for sure but based off what we've seen you can make educated guesses.
Regardless Im not saying the Isles should trade for Pacioretty but 7M is not a big ask for a guy in top 10 in NHL goal scoring the past 7 years and counting. As i said in the previous comment, plenty of guys have had bad years to only break out with big season the year after. All those guys were older than Pacioretty is now by the way.

James Neal getting signed to 8.5 mill is just absurd, come on man.. I’d say at most he’s getting 6.5, he really cooled it down in the 2nd part of the year (after all star) but still a good presence to have around.

We shouldn't trade for the 2nd... Carolina will certainly considered the idea of picking Zadina till the day of the draft. Just wait and see what happens. Furthermore, Svechnikov isn't a center. If it was the case, I would certainly try to trade up, but he still a winger which is just a little above zadina in term of potential.
