Oh buddy...a lot more going on here than your usual stuff, but I do like the idea of you guys going all-in on something like this. Value-wise, who knows...but a couple things:
1) Hard to imagine PLD signing for $5.5 long term. I feel like the $9-9.5 rumors are just a tactic to get him moved, but I can't imagine anything shy of $7.5ish on him (I'd expect somewhere around $8 if we're being fair).
2) What are you extending Hellebuyck at?

Nonono, just using last years 13OA for Romanov, then flipped for Dach as an example. I'd have to look at what's available, tbh, but that's the type of guy that I'd expect as opposed to Rossi (Not saying Rossi is great, or bad, just that I can't see Minny moving him yet).

Question
I wouldn't say Minnesota does it...Rossi *should* be in the NHL next year, and his low cap hit will be extremely valuable for a team that (one would think) wants to be a playoff team, that's also going to be tight up against the cap. Can't imagine 14OA plays this year (let alone next?), which isn't really what Minny needs (IMO at least...).
I'd say you're looking more at a Dach/Romanov type (similar to last year)...someone on the last year of their ELC that has shown promise, and has a solid ceiling, but isn't *quite* there yet.
But I could be full of baloney :tearsofjoy

I don't know...I can see the logic on both ends, but the thing that sticks out is that Arizona would likely be completely fine letting him stew for a bit on someone elses dime, while the rest of the prospects develop on their end.
Don't think the 3 years of having no control over a players development would be as big of a deal to them as it would be for a lot of other teams.

Ducks offseason thoughts
Just a few thoughts:
-Don't pay for Myers...If the Canucks want to dump that $6 mil cap hit, they can pay for it.
-Same same with Goodrow...4 years of a 30+ year old bottom 6 forward that frees up (very) valuable cap space for a team that will struggle to sign their current RFA's should be something that a team needs to pay to get rid of.
-I don't know with Gibby. I don't want to move him, and I don't see the return being worth it. I've seen the rumors that he potentially wants to be moved, but it's been 4 years of those at this point. I'm also not sure why Buffalo would be horned up to do it, since Levi *Could/Should* take the crease full time by 2024. Big cap hit for a guy to split games or potentially end up as the backup.
-I don't dislike the idea of Kulikov taking a second run, but I'd imagine that one of Minty/Zellweger likely get a shot out of camp, though I'm not a huge fan of starting the season with 2 rookies on the left side...I don't know...My fingers are crossed that we add a scoring forward over adding a d-man (Moving Vats down to the 3rd line, which, with no Goodrow, opens up a spot to hopefully do that.
Cheers!

I don't think he'll jump...I feel like it makes plenty of sense to play out ht eyear in the NCAA, then sign the ELC and burn a year at the end of the season. I mean, I personally think he'd end up getting a ton of minutes in Arizona this year, but who knows.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>I was thinking something similar, then saw him last year and seems to have grown taller, big lanky body type, excited for contact, and the dirty areas, he might grade out as a winger, but I think he can contribute as he fills out. Arizona seems to be on a run of similiar players, big physical players. He’s probably a 20 goal 2 winger or 3 winger. Might not work out that way, but this Arizona could be headed for an islanders plan of 9 guys grind you down and leave the scoring to Keller/Cooley/michkov if hes there at 6.</div></div>
Oh buddy, not a Yotes fan, but the mention of Cooley gets me tingling! He was my 1OA last year. Incredibly talented...Plays like Jack Hughes. I'm glad he stuck in the NCAA to fill out a bit though.

A 4th for taking 2 guys who combined for: 17 GP, 1 G, 6 A, 7 Pts? And have a combined cap hit of $5.75 mil (Plus Poolman goes with another $2.5 mil the following year), are owed $7.25 mil (with another $3 to Poolman the following year...).
Sounds like a pretty cheap price to pay to dump a couple of bad contracts, no?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Last year they went early on geekie, looking like a good move, I would guess they are more than happy at 6 and 12, could be quite a heist in this years draft. The forward prospect group is rounding into form all ready, so possibly reach for a defenseman or another forward or two and have a position of strength going forward. With the announced buyouts, I wonder if they have there eyes on a ufa dman to shore up the blueline</div></div>
Just re: Geekie, and to plop a thought out there, I'm absolutely not sold on him. Maybe he's improved it, but he just seemed soooo slow back the '21-22 season when I saw him a few times. Great hands, and a very solid playmaker, but my worry with him when the Ducks were on the clock at 10OA last year was that he was Dylan Strome 2.0 coming out of the draft...not that it's a horrible thing.

can anyone explain
To add to the cap issues, and that shedding that $5 mil with him is the *easy* thing to do, there's also the fact that he can block trades to 15 teams. Honestly, I'd be surprised if he moves, but if he does, I'd guess something closer to the Freddie Andersen trade (Reasonable comp? 30th OA+50thOA?) than some of these *much* lower moves.

No, but thanks for calling!
Laf is most assuredly being under utilized, but when you factor in control, the bevy of LHD’s coming, etc, and the fact that the rangers then get the better (at this point) prospect, plus the cap savings to improve their contending teams roster elsewhere…it just doesn’t work.

Rags are contenders right now. Better to spend draft capital dumping a bad contract than losing a young asset for almost no return (Just referencing the OS threat that you're tossing out there).
If you're simply trading for him, fine...Dach trade last year is probably a reasonable comparison (13th OA+3rd), though Laf still has more upside so I'd imagine the Rangers would want more.

Non-Bruins fan here, but Boston can, and absolutely matches though...they can go over the cap in the offseason, so they'd simply turn around and do what they'll inevitably have to do anyway, which is trim a couple of contracts (Forbort? Grzelcyk? Hall?). Obviously it stings a bit, but they absolutely match this.
As for Laf? Go ahead and OS him. You're likely looking at a Kotkaniemi type offer to get him to accept and the Rangers to not match, which means you've gotta get your 3rd rounder in 2024 back from Chicago. After that? Well...are you sure you've improved enough (without Swayman) to not be a lotto team again?
