Top NHL Prospects-- give me your thoughts
Incredible job with the list. I haven't kept up with prospects around the league like I used to when VAN was in the gutter but it's a nice surprise to see Lekkerimaki in the top-5.
If the Flyers somehow mess up Michkov its a crime against hockey.

Could Owen Power become avaliable
It's one of those weird situations where I would have a very hard time seeing them trade any of those players...but they do have the most unbalanced pairings in the NHL so maybe they will?
Either way, Samuelsson would probably be more likely to be dealt than the other three.

(CGY/VAN) - Zadorov for 2024 5th (CHI), 2026 3rd (VAN)
On the one hand, Nikita Zadorov's stats are not good and he's overpaid. (The Athletic has his market value at just $2 million.) On the other hand, the Canucks gave up very little to get him. Call it a fair deal, but I think both teams lost here.

Geekie would still be scratched in Philadelphia. Doesn't make sense to trade Frost for another forward unless it is a clear upgrade.

For TK, he cost around the same as Kuzmenko. What would you trade him for?
Sanheim probably cost a first

Buffalo Sabres signed Rasmus Dahlin (8 Years / $11,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>They honestly look at Vegas.
Eichel $10mm (12.1%) in 2022-23
Stone $9.5mm (11.5%)
Pietrangelo $8.8mm (10.7%)
And they say, wow, Vegas won with 3 guys making more than 10% of the cap.
Then BUF does some math and looks at their top contracts for 2024-25 (est. $87.5mm cap)
Dahlin $11mm (12.6%)
Skinner $9mm (10.3%)
Tage $7.14mm (8.2%)
And they figure they are in a much better cap situation than Vegas and they also figure the cap will keep going up knowing that that pushes those percentages even lower.
Simple math, really.</div></div>
Thank you. Cap hits shouldn't be viewed in terms of dollars, but in terms of percentage in light of the cap growing year-over-year.
There is some sticker-shock, for sure; but, for a BUF team that has its core locked up for the near and long-term future, I like this signing. It would be one thing if they were a cap-crunch team, but this works out great for them, IMO. Dahlin is <a href="https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2023/01/03121533/Screenshot-2023-04-03-at-10.39.48-AM.png" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">a great D,</a> who already is a top-pair guy at 23, and should only get better.

Not exactly, Michkov (and Demidov too) were amazing in pre-season and then when the season came around both were getting scratched for no reason with SKA (people have speculated that it has to do with their NHL aspirations but). They loaned Michkov out to Sochi and he has continued where he left off in pre-season. I believe they loaned Demidov to the MHL

Habs lose a bit, 4th or 5th for DeSmith and 4th or 3rd to dump Pearson. MTL could've gotten another 5th. Not a major loss, but VAN should be happy for sure

Pearson was activated from LTIR not too long ago and can't go back on it until he hurts himself. Trade's really an expensive depth piece for a cheap backup, with a pick to bridge the salaries. Pretty fair deal.

The value is fine I guess but I don’t think the flyers accept it anyway because they expect both to be a part of their core moving forward

I agree in principle. On the flipside, the Blackhawks chose to sell guys at similar age ranges or younger (Hagel, Dach, DeBrincat) to stockpile draft capital. It will all depend on how far Briere will be willing to go for last place.

tyler boucher is as middle of the road a prospect as you can get, every team has a dozen of them that they drafted in the 3rd or later round. He was a terrible pick and has incredibly minimal value and Branstrom is looking like a bottom pairing guy right now unless he makes massive strides.
Saying this is "Nylander for 3 firsts" is hilariously disingenuous.

Explain why a win now team ahead of the Sens in the same division would trade an elite offensive player who is in the middle of his prime, for a bubble defenceman, and two prospects that never will be as good as Nylander? Then you can understand why TO passes.
