This package would win hands down.

Montreal never does this though. Regardless how good Pettersson is.

Remove Reinbacher and this becomes more fair.

obviously there is a ton of value coming from montreal but man. none of the pieces coming back even sniff him in terms of individual impact. would just suck if Van had to do something like this

ya but you're looking at immediate cap space, two top 10 picks, a top 6 C with size and a potential top pair defenceman to play with hughes

It would be closer to

Dvorak
Barron
Mesar
2024 1st
2x 2025 1st

They get the value of 5 1st rounders with 2 of them being potential top 15 picks

And if they were to trade Petey, it would probably spell the end of their retool and theyll start a rebuild. Meaning theyll want picks and younger prospects instead of established nhl players like Dach or Suzuki

If they want a Dach or Suzuki, you have to send Suzuki everyday of the week just because he'll be almost 27-28 once the Habs really started competing

One of Reinbacher/Slaf at minimum is included. There’s no deal to be made without one of them. Dach likely would have to be included also

Apparently not, not even Mailloux would work

Top 5 center in the league, and is only 24, its debatable for sure.

1.) McNugget
2.) MacKinnon
3.) Draisaitl
4.) Hughes/Matthews/Petty
I personally got Petty over Hughes, but 6 is valid. Anything lower isn't

No one is bumping any of them out of those top 5

Petty > Hughes, for now imo, and its because of the 2-way of Petty, which Hughes isn't close to.

maybe. It's arguable though if you rather have a 115-point guy, but meh defensively or a 100-point guy at Selke-level defense. Honestly, it depends on the team around the player. MTL would probably value a guy like Hughes more on the long term because of how good the Defense should be, but in vacuum, I would rather have a couple fewer pts for a massive defensive upgrade. Just my opinion though

That’s a valid one I could even say they tie for 5th but to say petty is the 5th and Hughes is the 6th is a step too far

This trade value by MTL is quite literally one of the highest in NHL history. Let that sink in for a sec.....

EP is an absolute star but if he asks for a trade, Vancouver might get half of this.
