7×11=77m
8×9.75=78m
Im assuming the assumption is he tells treliving hes not re-signing and he picks up an asset but that seems very unlikely. However if that were to happen the money makes a lot of sense actually.

He traded a 1st for 5'10 pageau. I don't think Lou really cares if he's 5'9 as long as he produces.

He's better than Panarin , I don't know if I'd pay him 11.5 but if I had the option of paying Forsberg 9 mill or gaudreau 11.5 im taking Gaudreau

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcheesy</b></div><div>Gotcha, makes sense. Do you think this could be something Ottawa is interested in? I know they want some veterans to lead a young core.</div></div>
I don't think it's unreasonable and it seems like a pretty Pierre Dorion thing to do. Bailey's contract shouldn't be an issue since it'll be up by the time the Sens are getting into more of a cap crunch, but I think it only makes sense of Connor Brown gets moved in the offseason, or some other spot otherwise opens up on the 3rd line. Dorion has said he's specifically looking for a young, bonafide top 6 winger with team control, which Bailey doesn't fit anymore, and 2/3 of the 3rd line is pretty locked in between Formenton, Pinto and Connor Brown. Dorion likes Branny but isn't dumb enough to not know the deal with him, I could see something like this happening for sure. I think most Sens fans would rather just see them either hold onto Branny or add him as a sweetener in a package for a bigger fish, but this is pretty reasonable and realistic.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcheesy</b></div><div>8-9M is like Makar/Fox money, Dobson is going to need to add 10+ points and improve defense slightly to make that. I think anywhere from 6.5M to 7.5M is about right</div></div>
Makar got 9 mill x 6 , Fox 9.5 x 7 - that was without arbitration rights. In a year Dobson will be have arb rights.
Mcavoy is obviously better than Dobson , but has similar PPG totals. He signed 9 mill x 8, Seth Jones 9.5 x 8 and even Nurse got 9.25 x. 8. Werenski 9.5 x 6 too
If Dobson gets a 2 year bridge I think it would cost 8.5 mill x 8 to sign him. That’s why I want to give him 7.25-7.5 x 7-8 years right now

I love how you first trade for pettersson and then say "how are you gonna match it you dont have cap space" how about they dont trade for another significant contract without getting rid of one until they sign dobson?

NYR, maybe NYI, maybe LA or Vegas....it's pretty slim pickings is my guess. He's going to want to stay in the US and play on a very big stage

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcheesy</b></div><div>Yeah if he does stay, that'd be pretty cool to see. He's got 3 cups so it's not like he needs to get one before he retires.</div></div>
For sure. Also, from a team standpoint, he is probably worth more to the hawks sticking around and helping out with younger players than what he would return in any trade. So, its really up to him. I just hope him and Toews make a decision this summer so we can trade them and get something that helps the rebuild instead of them just walking away next year. But it is what it is, I guess.

Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcheesy</b></div><div>Trotz did wonders for Pelech, Pulock, Toews, Dobson, Mayfield though. Nelson is really the only forward I can think of that Trotz seemed to help. Agreed, he was set up to fail, limited cap space and not a lot of talent, but he wasted all the talent he did have here. Edit: He was the reason they got to 2 conference finals tho</div></div>
I think Barry was what they needed in 2018 when they weren’t winning games. But once those guys learned how to win he didn’t change his coaching style and he got the axe. I don’t trust Lou and I blame him for 95% of their problems, but Barry didn’t help himself here. He just didn’t.

Predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>32 years old, 0.59 ppg at 5M per year with 2 more years. Not many teams are touching that deal. Arizona might take him for dirt cheap just cause he only makes 3.5M in actual salary. I wouldn't say he's a real bad player just no one is going to pay much if anything for him. Most teams have younger cheaper players they would rather play or if they want a veteran leader they can sign someone for alot cheaper in free agency. Not like every "legitimate" writer is always right. But hey maybe the islanders do get extremely lucky and get to trade him for something, never know.</div></div>
Evgeni Dadonov is basically the same age as Josh Bailey (7 months older to be precise), had the exact same term left (2x$5M, except he was to be paid $11.5M in salary over those 2 years), and he brought back a 3rd round pick and a roster player after a season where he was objectively worse than Bailey was (13-7-20 in 55 GP). There's recent precedent for a decent return for an older, middle-6, offensive minded forward.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>Isles weren't supposed to spend a 1st and a 2nd on Pageau either.</div></div>
Yes they were, they desperately needed a middle 6 C. Conor Brown also doesn’t have the numbers to pull a 1st and a 2nd. Pageau had 24 goals in 60 games when he was traded and he’s also a center which holds more value.
The isles aren’t scratching Palmieri to put a worse player in Conor brown in the lineup.
