After getting deals on almost every other player, I think they can manage a 500k deal on Mitts.

The Moose in the Room
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>The entire point this ACGM was making is that you can't keep Rants AND your depth, now you both are saying jetison the depth, which is what OP was trying to avoid.
Yeah, you can drop the third line to keep Rantanen, but then you become the Leafs, too top heavy to win.</div></div>
Wood can be replaced by a Pavel/Polin/Kovalenko type or resign Duhaime for less than Wood. Colton is a bit trickier but Trenin could do a fine job as 3c for 2m vs Colton's 4m. The depth is fine, its just next man up and the Avs have been building some good role players.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>You need a delta greater than 5 million, moving out "one contract" isn't going to get it done, unless that contract is Landeskog, it would take at least two of your 4-5 million contracts and for them to be replaced by ~1 million dollar contracts, at which point, you've stripped out your third line.</div></div>
Take a minute and make an Avs acgm, you will see it is easy to fit in Rants. Moving on from Wood and Colton is much easier to replace than Mikko. Becomes even easier with recent financial data that the cap could have been 100m this current season. Should be around that 100m mark when Rants needs a deal.

The Moose in the Room
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>No, they really can't, not if Landeskog comes back, and you're kidding yourself if you think Mitts signs for less than 7. The whole reason BUF traded him was because he wanted what Tage got for a contract and they didn't want to give it to him.
You can't gut the defense because the goaltending is barely holding up behind it now, there's no money to be saved in net, they're barely spending 4 mil combined, that leaves the forward core, and it's not exactly like Colorado has the prospect depth to step in and do anything on the third line.
We can talk about a Terry for Rantanen swap, but the excess value between skill wise is getting eaten up by Terry's cost control for the next 6 years, and it's not enough of a delta to solve the problem at the start of next season with being cap compliant, as another ~3 million would need to be shed elsewhere.</div></div>
Lol thank you for the comedy this morning.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>If Rantanen has to move due to cap constraints, I could see Anaheim making a play for him. Strome doesn't have quite the same scoring capability as Baths, but he's got 50-60 points capability with the right line mates as shown in NYR, and Anaheim has other assets that could be offered provided there's a sign and trade.
I'd propose Strome, the EDM 1st, and Zellwegger. Maybe also swap Wood out for a cheaper NHL caliber LW as I have a hard time believing that Mitts signs for only 6</div></div>
It would start with McTavish and Zell and add from there. Mikko is the 2nd or 3rd best RW in the league and a 50 goal guy. Strom a late 1st and a redundent dman doesnt get it done.

Draft day trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>Agree with your position, but :
1. I'm for thoses who think that the ajustment will gonna came easily in the NHL level, maybe can take few games, but that's will not gonna be a problem. He already have experience against men's at the WCH last spring.
2. Agree with the size point.
3. I think that he is a VERY confidence player when he have the puck, but his style of play just don't looks that, but his confidence with the puck is a Elite level. Also, I didn't see somes situation that he maked a massive mistake because he maked a turnover (exept once at the Beanpot final this season).
4. Cole Hutson is heading to BU next season, and he said that he can come back to BU for the next season, but his older brother (Quinn Hutson) said that Lane will likely gonna sign with MTL after their season.</div></div>
If he can't do it at a slower and weaker level, he won't likely just pick it up in a few games against faster, stronger, and more experienced men.
WCH was a good insight and he should go for another if able. Tourny's are different than a full season grind.
Confidence might be the wrong word but I want to see him breathe, slow things down and control a situation under pressure. The issue is something he does in almost every game. Watch for it and you cant unsee it. It honestly might only take him speaking with a few high end PK guys, seeing how they think and approach him and then gaining an understanding and ability to predict habits.
I hope he goes back for selfish reasons lol. I could be wrong but its the feeling that I get.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>For someone who see Hutson in person, you are completly wrong. He is NHL ready, but his size can affect him, but he is NHL ready.</div></div>
We're in the same boat for watching him play. He is mighty talented but still has a few things to work on before he would be able to play his style against pros.
1. He moves with the puck in a way that closes off passing lanes and limits his options. He needs to learn to create a threat of a pass in the ozone. Theres a common problem with BU and sticking to the systems.
2. His size, he needs to grow more.
3. He needs more confidence and control when being defended properly. If you try to force a move he will shimmy n shake you out of your skates, but if you stay calm and just cut of his angles, he short circuts and creates turn overs.
4. He has another brother coming into the program next season I believe, or maybe its Mack.
5. BU is in a positition that they can be a force for a few seasons, I can see him coming back for another Beanpot and Frozen 4 run.
Not trying to say he wont be an nhler, but he would benefit from another year and I've heard a few guys are looking to come back.

Colton and Wood are the easiest to replace with the best cap savings. Manson is the hardest to replace. It's tough to find a mobile, mean, big dman who is excellent on both sides of the puck for less than what Manson makes.

Who knows. I don't think he will look to take a deal so it could come down to arb. If they gave a more accomplished (edit lower ceiling) Colton 4m to be a flex 2/3c, then Im guessing they budget 6m for some term. Will be a curious case to follow

Exactly, it was the cost of doing business and getting a 1st for Walker. Im probably wrong but I would guess that RyJo would have been ok to play if he was in the nhl. A lot easier to grind through or rehab an injury in 1st class than on a Greyhound/MegaBus
