Leafs Full In Depth Offseason for 2024-25
Kappa isn't getting 3.2m. Kinda crazy to trade 2.1m Jarnkrok for nothing just sign the inferior 3m Duclair.
Minten should be a Marlie...playing centre
Please can't the Leafs have a 7th NHL Dman?

Timmins flaws can be hidden playing on a decent Toronto team but they'll be on full display in Chicago. We've had players like him in the past and they didn't work out so well. I'm not sure Chicago takes him for FC right now. They've already got bodies to fill spots. Now they're looking for the right fit and I doubt Timmins fits that bill.

The Matthews and Nylander Plan
This looks pretty good but I have a couple of thoughts
1. I would expect Sandin and Liljegren to get matching contracts, and if one is going to get more I'd expect it be lily
2. That's probably the most I'd sign Bunting for, but if it is that high I'd want more term, might as well make it look good a few years from now when the cap rises
3. I'd want to re-sign Brodie if possible, he's crucial to the team's defence
4. Amriov on LTIR to make the money work is odd
5. Nylander is going to want significantly more than that, given his team lead in points this season. Unless he ****s the bed next season it's going to be close or more than 10m
6. That money can be found by trying to negotiate less for ROR, hopefully he sees his role as a Giordano/Spezza type player, cheap contract in return for being loved and probably guaranteed an organizational role after. And Kampf shouldn't be signed for more than 1.5 again

That’s a ton to give up to dump Mrazek’s contract but that’s most likely around what it’s gonna cost
Kerfoot fetches at least a 3rd but not from Anaheim
Same with Holl he fetches at least a 5th but not from Philly
I like Crouse but giving up on Sandin now, who will be cost controlled for a few years and is the future of our LD makes 0 sense as we have a surplus of wingers. We would be better off signing someone in FA for cheaper then trading Sandin.</div></div>
I'd rather buy Mrazek out or retain some salary than trade that much (it's not going to cost that much, despite what AGM says).
Crouse is not worth Sandin at all. Better to keep Sandin if that's your best option. I don't think Crouse fits into our top-6 at all, he's too slow. Nick Ritchie all over again.

Off-Season Moves pt 2
Not a Leafs fan, but it's definitely not the price for him, regardless of what a certain group of fans that don't like nice things on their own team would have you think...
-Myers was waived last year and went unclaimed. His actual $'s owed this year is $3.8 mil, which makes him even less attractive as an asset. Odds are he gets bought out, or swapped for an equally bad deal.
-Tolvanen is now 23 and has seen little to no success at the NHL level.
-3rd=meh.
-Nylander=point per game player.
IMO, you're looking at a 1st round pick and a very good young asset as a starting point, with some other stuff tossed in.

A Realistic In Depth Off Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>As far as Kubalik, CHI will tender an offer, (especially since its so cheap), so even if he does find his way to TOR, it wont be free.
And your signings/re-signings are pretty good, but I just dont see a team better than 21-22. Its basically the same team, with some of the same issues:
Age: In 21-22 Toronto was the 10th oldest team in the league, in the playoffs/end of season they got older with clifford/giordano. Still have dependency on Spezza, Muzzin, Simmonds, Clifford.
Unreliable commodities: Kase surpassed expectations last season by actually playing more than a few dozen games, but hes a concern every game. The bottom 6 dont have tons of firepower. Kallgren is not a good backup (3.31 GAA and .888 save %). Very unlikely that robertson/abrueze/kubalik replace Kerfoot/Spezza/Mikheyev in production or two way play.
Im not calling for an overhaul, but this is really the 21-22 team without Mikheyev, Kerfoot, Holl with really just the addition of Kubalik and (hopefully) the arrival of Robertson/Abrueuze.</div></div>
This season's team was a coin flip away from the eastern conference final. I would say running it back is a wise plan. I think Mikheyev is likely gone but his 2 empty net goals and nothing else in 7 games may hurt his contract a bit so maybe he is still affordable. I think Kase is likely gone. His health is is just too unpredictable and I think you can find a better 4th liner who hits or kills penalties.
Calling the team old is rich though. All the heavy lifters, beyond JT (who is still a great player) are under 30. I guess you can say Brodie is pretty major as well. Simmonds, Spezza and Gio lift the average but have proven to be capable in their roles still.

Every Leafs Player Trade Value
Think the leafs could get more for Bunting, probably Rielly as well. The fact that the 2023 Arizona pick could become Bedard or Michkov that trade is interesting, i think it could flip from a Toronto to Arizona or back win depending on where those picks fall. Id assume though, that the 2022 pick would be wright, if so maybe you put conditions on the 2023 pick?
Only way I would trade Matthews is for a drastic overpayment though. Say Barkov, Knight, and picks or Rantanan, Byram, and Newhook +... Makar and Byram, Hintz, Robertson, +....
YES I KNOW IM GOING TO GET HATE EITHER WAY FOR THIS BUT I POSTED MY FEELINGS ON THIS LOL. I VALUE MATTHEWS JUST LOWER THAN MCDAVID ONLY BECAUSE HIS DEAL EXPIRES EARLIER.

Montreal Offseason by a Leafs Fan
EDM's seconds are tied up in conditional moves so they can't move their second for Allen. If that's all Petry can get, then the Habs keep him, IMO. Happy with the Armia and Weber trades though it sucks to not have Webs around. Happy with the Monahan deal but would hope to get a little extra for giving CGY all that relief.
All in all, for a Leaf fan this isn't too bad :D

Thread:
2 KHL players the Leafs should target
I also dont think that TMLF is the destination.
Its not just that they dont have the cap and other teams could offer more, even for a tryout. It comes down to fit/playing time, Toronto as long as they are winning aren;t going to start plugging in overage foreigners into their top 6 in 2021-22...AND
Toronto doesn;t really have the reputation for these guys, they've seen that Lehtonen and Semyonov and a bunch of others barely got a look in, didn;t get the chances, playing time and were moved (these older guys arent coming to North America to get traded around). They see Lehtonen or Semyonov not get the NHL playing time, they think of Barbanov, who only got good after he got playing time in SJ, Mikheyev (who's had a solid 13-14 games this year) asked for a trade and will not be re-signed, or the fact that TMLF have not played a rookie at forward for 2 seasons for more than a couple games, these examples are known/seen to players and agents.
So while they would have a better chance of getting a foreign free agent in the off season, I think Toronto's prior experiences and their cap issues and their team structure work against them acquiring these bigger, more talented overage guys.
This isn;t anything new, pick a year since 2005 and you'll find a russian or a european brought over as an free agent, and 99% of the time, they/team parted unsatisfied with barely half a season of games played.... A few names that I remember besides Semyonov and Lehtonen are Soshnikov, Marchenko, Ozhiganov, Holzer, Rynnas...For every Barbanov or (goalie, dont remeber name) Gustavsson (?) who play well enough to make it multiple seasons in the NHL, but not in Toronto, theres 4-5 guys who tanked.
I just dont get why the pot of gold somehow lies somewhere else, if anything I'd put my faith in Robertson, AMirov and Abramov to fill those two spots.

Fabbri - Middle 6 Winger
Hronek - 3rd/4th defensemen on Toronto
2nd round pick - Not much to Toronto
This is not at all enough for Marner. As much as wings fans wouldn’t wanna hear this, a Marner trade starts with Raymond/Seider which makes no sense for the Wings at this time.</div></div>
Hronek would be a nice upgrade to your right side, that said this trade doesn't make sense for either team. This guy also isn't a wings fan. I think he was trading value away from marner by attaching Mrazek and Ritchie and both of those players are a no go for Detroit. Other teams would pay more for Marner if they could afford his contract. And you are right Raymond or Seider makes zero sense for us.
