Yes, explain why Gibson has not outplayed other goalies on Anaheim in the last four years. Either he isn't much better than any of them, or he isn't trying. Either way, why would anyone want him? These are the irrefutable statistical facts:
2023- Gibson performed no better than Dostal or Stolarz.
2022- Gibson was undeniably worse than Stolarz.
2021- Stolarz only plays 8 games but is much better than Gibson. Gibson was better than Miller in his 16 games played so credit to Gibson there.
2020- Gibson performed no better than Miller, arguably worse.

Not sure you have been following, and judging by attendance you haven’t. So I don’t trade the guys that you have some years on that all ready have been there and seem like they are sticking around. Couple of the right dman and in another years rookie of the year Logan Cooley, another 6 and 12 this year, this squad is going to be decent in arizona or otherwise.</div></div>
Attendance? They have a 5 thousand seat arena and no hope of a new one. The team is done. And yeah down the road they may be decent but right now they don't have money to have even top end AHL facilities, why any NHLer would want to go there is not something I can see happening after losing their latest arena deal.

Well the team is moving likely after next season. So the team likely is going to have a world of trouble signing anyone to longer than 1 year terms. They may be forced to take what they can in a lot of situations. Dumpster fires don't usually turn out well when you live in said dumpster. The dumpster being the franchise not the city or state.

It's absolutely ridiculous how much sh*t I've seen where opposing teams' fanbases undervalue our players and overvalue theirs. Like I saw a few minutes ago a trade proposal of Nylander, Roberston, and a 1st for Toffoli and Andersson, and Flames fans had said even removing Toffoli would be a no, like in what world is Andersson worth Nylander, Robertson, and a 1st. Give me a fkn break. It's absolutely absurd. And i just saw an Oilers fan try to dump Ceci and some AHLer for Toffoli. We're over here being told 80+pt guys are worth nothing meanwhile other teams are trading trash.

There is ZERO chance Treliving is risking his new job on Markstrom.
Also, Nylander is the best piece in that trade — 40 goals and 87 points.
Just keep Nylander, Brodie, and Samsonov and you are better. Plus you get to keep your first round pick too.</div></div>
Yeah, when you have the younger, better, cheaper, fan favourite option in Samsonov, just take it.

He never made the playoffs in Detroit, not once. Boston had clinched before he got there and all he did was help them deliver one of the biggest choke jobs in NHL history. I find it humorous that Marner is looked upon as a playoff failure but has made the playoffs every year of his career and is almost a PPG with 14 points in 11 games. Bertuzzi is worth about 5*5, and there will be lots of regret there. 6 x 7 is just ridonkulous.</div></div>
in fairness he's a very solid player and played well in the playoffs, Boston collapse or not. That being said, I agree that his injury history is way too risky and while I agree his contract should come in way lower, some GM wanting grit and etc will make that mistake. Just think/hope that won't be Toronto.

Agressive Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Newtown</b></div><div>It is a crap shoot. Which is why I’m advocating to keep all three unless someone pays to take Murray. In which case maybe you sign a cheaper veteran. Heck even FLA had 3 goalies this year and started the playoffs with their 3rd stringer. I don’t like the odds of Murray/Woll. Woll isn’t ready yet for the reins and we don’t want to ruin him. Murray hasn’t done anything in a long time to suggest he’s the guy to lead a multi-billion dollar franchise that is ready to win now. But yeah, Murray is rolling the dice more than Sammy and a lot of goalies based on recent performance.</div></div>
That's definitely not a bad idea. Giving up assets to move Murray seems dumb to me. Keep em all, and I am fine with that.

Sabres Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Newtown</b></div><div>I had high hopes for UPL back to his days with the Wolves but he seemed lost at times last year and got worse as the season went on. the one expectation I would have for him is to get better as he becomes accustomed to the league. Not sure Buffalo is the team to play air tight defence while he gains confidence. Levi, on the other hand seems to ooze confidence. Letting in a bad goal or having a bad game doesn’t seem to phase him. I’d certainly be looking for a very, very good veteran to pair with him. Buffalo is a young and fragile team that will need exellent goaltending as they mature into a better defensive team. If I’m Kevin Adams I’m not risking my young players confidence on two young goalies. There’s probably another GM willing to take UPL in exchange for an older more established goalie and some picks. I really think you need to choose between the two. UPL is 24 and not waiver exempt anymore. By comparison Samsonov is 26 and seems to have been around forever. Ottinger, Hart, Skinner, Kotchetkov, are all 24 or younger. UPL isn’t a kid anymore, he needs to show that he is a capable NHL goalie.</div></div>
I think there is a reasonable correlation to say that he wore down as the season went on. For a good while UPL was the best Goaltender Buffalo had available, because Anderson kept getting hurt, and Comrie was absolutely brutal and unreliable. I think he played a few too many games in a row at times, and everyone knows if you watched the Sabres last season how bad the defense was in front of their goaltenders. I don’t think they will trade UPL right away unless the deal is simply too good to say no, I think this could be the make or break season for him though. Since Comrie is already signed for next season, I don’t know if Buffalo is looking for yet another goalie, if only because the owner doesn’t want to spend money if he doesn’t have to. Some people think Levi might even start the year in Rochester, which I don’t think will happen unless he comes to camp completely unprepared, or gets hurt. Buffalo probably will not risk losing UPL on waivers, but Comrie is less likely to be taken if they try it. If for some reason someone actually did grab him most Sabres fans would not miss him.

Scott Laughton - The 13th Forward
It's a tricky problem for sure, especially with the lack of options.
Orlov will be 32 by the start of next season. I don't mind what he brings stylistically. I think he's a good player. But at that contract it's a no-go.
I've made several posts recently acquiring Mittelstadt if Buffalo ever decided to make him available. If they're out on Helley and they don't like the price of any of the UFA options, then a deal centred around Samsonov could work. I think there's a lot of upside to Mittelstadt, and I think he could even make a good 2C so Tavares can move to the wing.

100% forego signing orlov, absolutely not what we need imo. Better to get mayfield or Soucy or bring back Schenn to play with Mo. what about JT Compher (~$4-5M); like his speed and you could play him @2c at times with Marner to add speed

No D Bulk up on forwards
Laughton is so overrated right now. He's a 20-30 point bottom 6 player. His one 40 point season came when he was getting 2 minutes a night more than he ever did before. He won't get that much opportunity on a good team. So what you are getting with him is what he's been his whole career. A 20-30 point depth forward. It's valuable sure but not the capfriendly madness valuable.

Well no but Ottawa did. So Toronto will have to pay to get him moved. Nothing against Murray tho. Im a diehard pens fan and still love Murray even though he hasn't done anything since. I tried rational discourse with this homer earlier - doesn’t work. No perfect way to gauge player’s values - jfresh + some other models try to isolate an individual player’s contribution - but we can keep it simple. Marner is paid way more $ and if they are both FAs today -Marner would be paid way more $. Love Slavin - great player, but offense is more valuable than defense and an offensive player that is also strong defensively is 😎
