Hanifin is 9th on Goals Scored and 26th in Points for ALL Defensemen. He plays 25mins/night and in all situations, including the PP and PK. I mean give your head a shake with that comment 🫨
You think a crappy Late Round 1st RD Pick that may not even become an NHL Asset/Player and a very underwhelming and under performing Holloway, who is no longer waivers exempt next season is anywhere close to what gets the conversation started for Hanifin!?
Holloway’s heading towards becoming the next Yakopov, Yamamoto or Puljujarvi and hasn’t even produced as much as those 3 did when they first joined the Oilers</div></div>
All of the Hanifin stuff you say is nice but he's a UFA in July. If he had term I'd have a different opinion. Moving on
I shouldn't even engage in your Holloway comparison. It's ridiculous but Yakapov... get real man.

I'm on about him getting traded by the deadline and what the value is. I don't think Hanifin gets a first + but If it happens I'll take my lumps.

Well we likely don't have to wait long to find out who's wrong. Let's check back in 9 days to compare notes. I'm big enough to own it if you end up correct.

Ok the trade above is way off but you're delusional if you think a 1st and Holloway is an opening offer for Hanafin as a UFA. He's a middling D on most teams, Good not great. You can keep him for the death march if that's your value.

Oilers TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>goodfella</b></div><div>Other teams players? You mean the Oilers? You're really referring to Broberg here right?</div></div>
I wasn't referring to Broberg specifically but I see how that came across. I admit I made a generalization, I don't know AStovetop, I just assumed I did based on the comments above. Sounded like someone that spends a lot of time on here telling everyone how great "his" players are and how everyone else would have to pay to move theirs. If that's not you AStovetop I offer you my humble apologies.
Having said all that, to propose that the the 2 picks, Broberg and Campbell for nothing from the Sharks is better but still not acceptable really calls things into question.

Oilers TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>Then why don't the oilers just by him out next offseason? And why do you act like money is free? That's 10.5 mil (not including his salary this season) owed that the owner has to pay.
Campbell's cost is around a 1st, 2nd, and a prospect to dump.
Blackwood is worth around a high 3rd/mid-2nd, and with leverage could get more. Duke is heating up and is looking like the Playoff duke last year, he could get a 2nd or more at the TDL</div></div>
the Oilers may buy him out but the difference between $2M on the Cap for the Oilers right now is very different than the Sharks and implying it's the same is ridiculous. The Oilers will make very different decisions regarding their cap than the Sharks will. Also what does Playoff "duke" have to do with the Sharks? You are over valuing the Sharks players and undervaluing other teams players here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oilers_29</b></div><div>No from Edmonton</div></div>
Edmonton should have kept Bjugstad and traded or let Mcleod go last year. The oilers don't need a fast skater that doesn't grind for anything on the 3rd line. If he was producing the odd point whatever but he isn't. At least you know you're getting effort from Bjugstad.

So yes, that offer would get laughed at. You trying to defend it is equally laughable.</div></div>

I was referring specifically to your assessment that the offer "Doesn't get the conversation started". Thats ridiculous, it's a fine offer to start a talk that may or may not result in a trade. Please tell me what offer <em>gets the conversation started</em> and remember it's not the Canes making the offer to themselves. I'll wait....

CAR does not want to move him at all. To entice them you have to make it worth their while. A ho-hum D and a 1st doesn’t get the conversation started.</div></div>
"Doesn't get the conversation started" Come on now, MAYBE Waddell counters this offer but I think its pretty rich to say he just hangs up and forgets about it.

Addressing the Goaltending Issue
I don't know anything about Driedger but if he is really worth $3.5M then I can't see Fla keeping him..
How did Turris and Russell end up on LTIR?
That Saad deal is about 2 years longer thna I'd like it to be but I like the player
Dislike the Hamonic deal and I think there needs to be more/different addition(s) to the Defence than this especially considering Klefbom's injury history and potential career ending situation
Overall though I like your direction. Leaves some cap space and if Driedger is what you believe he is I think that is a typical Holland Goaltending move..

Haha There are certainly a couple of trolls in here. Great discussion starter Eberles_Backcheck
Gibson with the Oilers is a dream but it's unlikely to happen, it doesn't make sense to trade a goalie that is playing that good regardless of the state of the rest of the NHL team (Not Prospects, God forbid I mention prospects that are apparently guaranteed down in Ana..) In hindsight Holland should have paid Markstrom but Chirelli pooched the Cap and, at the time, the deal Markstrom got in Calgary made me anxious. He has proved me wrong so far (especially Saturday *facepalm). Fingers crossed for some good Holland decisions next year with room.

Such a worthless trade, we don't need another Manning or Petrovic.</div></div>
Do you have any ideas on how you would help the D core during the season? Gudbranson is just a suggestion. There's plenty of salary next offseason but a little defensive stabilization now would give Holland a better idea of what he really has on the back end. We have some great prospects coming up but I can't see one of them being a great leader right off the bat. We need someone with experience, that will likely cost more than their play on the ice (see; Shea Weber). I can't find a good Veteran leader that they could bring in on D and no I'm not suggesting thats Gudbranson. Who would you target?

Oiler Cap flex
Good point, I hadn't thought about that with the Taxi Squad rules..
And fair enough on Sheary, he gets some cache for playing well with Crosby but you're right, he wouldn't have been traded or still be an FA if he was that good. I'd still give him a chance on an even cheaper deal..
