Neal’s negative value is probably still at least a 1st (on the lenient side) almost all of his goals came on the PP and his 5 on 5 numbers are unreliable to say the least.

Better defense? Maybe from an offensive standpoint but from a defensive standpoint its awful. Not to mention, that this team would be lottery team playing with a has-been and a rookie who’s played 10 games in Austria.

What exactly does Russell bring to the table? His defence is decent at best, his offence is absolutely terrible and has no breakout. The guy simply isn’t NHL quality. Metrics back me up if I could figure out how to post it.

Which is precisely why the Oilers need a 3rd pairing LHD.

Eichel to Rangers Idea
Value is there. However, the only way any team is gonna trade a superstar is if a star and a high potential prospect comes back in return. None of these players fit that quota.

JJ Is Getting Traded
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonkeyLips</b></div><div>You know the one thing the avs team is missing? A legit no. 1 goalie. They don't need anymore prospects. They are in win now mode. Any player they get drafting at no 24 is as useless to them as the player they take in the 7th round. They should trade that pick for a player that can help them now.</div></div>
Is Murray really helping because to me; his glove hand is a liability. There’s much better options for Colorado with that cap space, Murray ain’t it though.

if the oilers hadnt traded marino
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kafle22</b></div><div>no he wouldn't really. Penguins weren't expecting him to play this good. Many mock rosters prior to the start of the season at best had him playing third pairing. he shined in training camp which he would have done here too</div></div>
So if that’s the case Kemp is the perfect replacement as he had the exact same stats in the same NCAA division and league, why even need Marino? They’re nearly identical players from all parts of the spectrum. Besides that, Pittsburgh’s RD wasn’t strong (Schultz, Letang, Gudbranson, and Ruhwedel), which is why Marino was talked about in preseason. Even with that it still took Schultz to get injured for Marino to get his big break. Edmonton’s RD depth was pretty strong with Larsson, Benning, Bear, Persson, Bouchard, and Day (at the time). As much as I wished the Oilers signed in hindsight, the outcome would likely be much different and the same will likely be said for Kemp.

My statement is not being salty or anything, by the way. It’s more the lack of opportunity he would’ve gotten in Bakersfield had they signed him.

If the Oilers hadn’t traded Marino, he’d likely be in the AHL with mediocre stats.

I’m not disagreeing from that standpoint however, almost any trade involving Bouchard is a no go (unless it involves a RD).

Quality over quantity. It’d take a lot to get a #1 Right shot dman on a good contract.

Cap issues with no trades and flat cap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Oiler3535</b></div><div>Whether you like it or not, he IS a top 6 winger. And go actually look at some trades in the last few years. Bottom 6 guys get 3rds or better. The injury issue does matter, but if he comes back and plays in the playoffs it will boost his value immensely.</div></div>
Injuries do effect player value and everyone knows that. He suffered a major knee injury! How the heck do you think that doesn’t lower value? No one is going to trade a 1st for a guy who is 25, is a fringe top 6 winger (at best), isn’t some kind of corsi god, and suffered a major knee injury in a good draft. I’d pay the 1st for Kapanen, as I believe he is actually a player who has good capabilities of playing in the top 6 well, however Johnsson? Not a chance.
