<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>I see your a Hawks fan but you don't seem to understand what a UFA is.

Lindholm is a 1 year rental. That means the Hawks get him for only 1 season and then he shops the free market. If you think that's worth the #11 pick, Suter, and Beaudin then I think you're insane. We aren't competing for a cup, that's giving up a lot for what?

Butcher is another 1 year rental; again, Hawks have zero rights to him after a season it's highest bidder at that point. He's also a 2nd liner and not much more, so what exactly are you accomplishing by trading Beaudin, Kalynuk after a good first season, Stillman a decent 3rd liner, and Vlassic in the wings? I'm all for trading Zadarov (an RFA not UFA), but bringing in another bottom 4 for what?

There's a reason why fans of the other teams aren't pushing back and even a couple saying Chicago is overpaying here.</div></div>

My apologies for being unclear. The Lindholm trade is predicated on an extension, and I should have made a note of that. I'm happy to make the edit. Re: the Butcher trade, Zadorov is just as likely to be non-tendered as anything else due to his QO. Subban is a tweener and is in the way of Soderbloms development at this point. The pick swap is a mid-round 2nd for a high 3rd, not just a giveaway of a 2nd. Kalynuk is getting top-line minuted in the AHL in this scenario and is likely the first call-up, Beaudin is the odd man out developmentally, and Stillman has the perfect contract for a 6/7D.
