Pens trade Vegas
not even feasible let alone an overpay.
A. they have to pay marino next year, there is no cap space there, nor anyway to create it unless you move a large salary.
B. VGK has no choice but to move cap. They are in the same spot they were with the Schmidt trade. Where they gave a good player up for nothing.

yeah they aren't gonna over pay on a contract VGK has to dump if that's the contract they try to move. And they aren't giving away ZAR and Tanev for nothing.

Zucker and Tanev combine for $9M. Vegas needs to shed ~$1M from their current roster, so trading a $7M Pacioretty for $9M in cap space isn’t going to work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div><strong>Why wouldn’t Phily just trade Ghoust and J.Voracek to get Carlo</strong>. To move Burns contract is gonna have to be like Burns and Merkey. Or Burns and a 1st round pick. For someone like Ghoust back. Or RR back from the Sabers. And I don’t even know if the teams would do that. SJS still might have to retain 1M or 1.5M of his contract too.
It’s 5 years, till he is 40 years old, at 8M per. Ouch man. And Burns is an offensive defenseman. It’s not like his defense is still gonna be solid now that his offensive production and speed has declined.
SJS is probably better off, just tanking for 2-3 years, getting high draft picks. And then when Burns has 2 or 3 more years left on his deal, you can trade him or buy him out. And Karlsson will have 4-5 years left and will be easier to trade. And Couture will have 4-5 years left too and be easier to trade. And hopefully the cap increases and their production doesn’t decline that much.
And just take on contracts and draft picks like TJ right now from TB. Get all the picks u can get. Tank and get 3 years of top 5 picks. And then, like I said, Burns, Karlsson, Couture should be easier to trade by then.</div></div>
Because Boston is not trading Carlo when they have only Miller and his bad knees and Clifton behind him. Neither are 20+ minutes a game top 4 type. Not to mention there is a thing called a salary cap. That would Boston over by about 7m. And....it’s a💩 trade. 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah, the Sharks are stuck with Burns if they can't trade him. That contract is neatly structured to make it next to impossible to buy out.

My pick for SC champs this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>Again, I think that you are looking at this with ridiculously rose-coloured glasses. This team had stunk all season long. They were tied for 8/9th spot in the conference at the time of the pause (and had they lost that final game - a game they won 2 - 1 scoring in the third period - they would have been tied for 10/11th and Florida would been in the third spot in the division). They had been in a months long battle with Florida to see which team could suck more fall out of the #3 spot in the division (and therefore out of the playoffs). The team was so embarrassing that management had given up on improving the team at the trade deadline. They had just finished a California road trip in which they lost to all three of the worst teams in the western conference (getting out-scored 3 - 8 in the process). The day before the pause there was no confidence coming from almost anyone that this team was going to make the playoffs.
Then of course with some time off the Toronto fanbase goes into a state of delirium again and believes that the Leafs' are going to blow Columbus out of the water - and instead the team sucked again. Sucked badly. It wasn't amazing goaltending they lost to. They got completely outplayed by a team with heart. A team that would give anything to win every battle vs a team that was fine with losing every battle.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>Sure they rushed Sandin but he could handle it there's a difference. Sandin looked young not out of place.</div>
They didn't just rush Sandin - they put him in a position in which he was guaranteed to fail, to lose confidence, and when they had the chance to dramatically improve that situation (signing Bogo) they refused to do so. Unlike last offseason when Sandin was one of the first players training in Toronto long before camp started (as is the case with Robertson this off-season), he has stayed in Sweden. He knows that he and Lilly have been completely buried on the depth chart. It tells me a lot about how badly the Leafs have completely ****ed up his development (something that was easy to see coming, but which rose-coloured glasses fans refused to see) and what he thinks about his chances of making this team and his future with the team (or lack of a future as far as I am concerned).</div></div>
If the team was only thinking about winning now they would've picked up Bogo at the deadline and play Sandin regularly. Yes 2013 was inexperienced yet a team that is like half of the age of the 2013 team. But sure. I thought we'd beat CBJ not crush them. And if you don't think it wasn't great goaltending I'm done. Leafs had a team shooting% of like 2 over the series. That's hilarious.
Because you say more doesn't mean their points are right. There's no point in arguing with someone that won't see the other side. I'm not into talking to walls thanks.
Lol. I think he was doing a good job of address each point or counter point!! But ya, it’s hard to even argue on Thai site.
If I write something that lomg. I can tell the other person didn’t even read the whole thing. I read everyones whole post if they tag me in it. But half the time, I’m just like I’m not writing this and arguing if I don’t feel like u are reading everything I write. I try to make them short. But if they come out longer. Like I said, I can tell, 75% of the people u are debating with, won’t read the whole thing. And I do, I read it all b4 I respond.
Don't get me wrong I read all the points and some are right. Most are probably right. But arguin the same point for everything I say is not impressive. Sandin is better then Marincin. Playing him isnt stunting his growth. IF putting a player in a bad situation mattered to development... it really hurt McDavid... it really hurt Rielly... it really hurt Brady Tkachuck... it really hurt Carter Hart... it really hurt Chabot... the list goes on.
Not getting Bogo at the deadline was 100% the right move. You bring him in and the team looks at it like being rewarded for bad play it could've easily gone worse. Bogo isn't helping the offensive side of the puck. He wouldn't of made a difference.
As for shooting% I didn't specify when they had it. It wasn't overy 5v5 it was over the entire series. But even if it was 5% that's not that much better either. Also taking 1 example over 5 game series is just nitpicking. I'm sure there's others like it because it's hockey and that's how the game is played. Like I said if you watch that series now and say it wasn't majority the goalies I don't think we're watching the same games.
I'm done though. Like I said no point in arguing this now.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>The Leafs' didn't have a team shooting% of 2% over the series, although no doubt this lie is going to live forever. They had a shooting percentage of 5.3%. Yes, their 5v5 shooting percentage was low (against both goalies), but their shooting percentage outside of 5v5 was high (again against both goalies) - high among all playoff teams, higher than they had during the regular season and that completely destroys the fantasy that the Leafs' went up against great goaltending. They didn't. They went up against average goaltending If you were actually compare the Leafs' 152 5v5 shots against Columbus against the 5v5 shots from a period of regular season it was easy to see that the quality of 5v5 shots by the Leafs in the playoffs were completely dreadful.
In game 5, Auston Matthews attempts a backhand shot clearly aiming for a top corner, but the D gets his stick on Matthews' stick almost completely stopping the shot which then dribbles the 20 or 30 centimeters to the goalies pads at such an anemic pace that the average blind-folded 3-year-old would have stopped with ease - ohhh look at the super amazing goaltending.
Matthews follows that up with a "shot" 1 second later where he pushes his stick with minimal force (again being stopped by the opposing D's stick) against the goalie's pad and touches the puck in the process - ohhhh look at the super amazing goaltending.
Both those are considered high danger CFs by the advanced stats gurus.
Columbus simply destroyed the Leafs at 5v5. This was well known at the time of series to anyone who watched the game, but since advanced stats goofs who don't understand the game have tried to change narrative. It is just one more reason why they should be completely ignored.</div></div>
I think that you are looking at this with ridiculously rose-coloured and biased glasses. Yes, the loss in 2013 was embarrassing - but was a completely inexperienced team that hadn't made the playoffs in 7 years. This current team is far more embarrassing. Ridiculously highly paid players who don't care. A team that loses to their own zamboni driver. A team which fails to make the playoffs - something that no one would have even thought was possible 2 years before.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div>It took a global pandemic to make the Leafs to miss the playoffs. Under normal circumstances no way the Leafs miss. </div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>We’ll see. From all the reports out of camp( granted from Penguins beat writers, but there are quotes in the articles from coaches) he’s been the stand-out in try-outs/camp so far. And has been skating on the Top lines. That’s what the articles I linked say. That he Has been skating on the top lines. And the other article says he’s been paired with Byfield most of the time.
Although, I can see Poulin or the 3rd or 4th line b/c he is 6’3, 216 pounds. He can physically play on a typical 3rd or 4th line. But usually On these type teams, all 4 lines are scoring lines. But we’ll see. Everything I’ve read so far hasn’t said that, but who knows. I just want to see him play well. Read those articles if u care. They say he has been the stand-out in try-outs so far. And has the best/sickest goal so far too, there is a clip of the goal actually. And like I said, it is coming from Pens beat writers,so take from it what u want, I’m sure there are some “rose colored glasses” statements in there!! But I know there are also quotes from coach or coaches, saying he has been the “stand-out” so far too.</div></div>
Ye I heard about that goal. I know the Flames beat writers need a grain of salt. They pick their guys to rag on and those guys can't do anything right, team is a disaster as soon as the season ends and the guys they like, specifically prospects, can't do anything wrong. It looks to me like you could see him on a 4th line with Pelletier, Holloway and himself. I think Newhook plays top 9 and gets bumped up from his line yesterday and now you have a good scoring, checking, two-way 4th line. The other thing to watch out for on the 4th line is Mercer but it'd be more Mercer vs Holloway and I'd personally take Mercer. Really interested in what the red and white game 4 lines will be. Do you know when it is?

TB would have to do this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>Yep, I diasagree. I like the lines and pairings, I have much better. And if Columbus misses Hoffman. I think Kerfoot would be a good option. Not saying he’s on their radar. Just IMO he would be. Like I said, a better LW than a Center, IMO.
And I can see him playing that 2nd line LW for Toronto this year and Thornton being the 3rd line Center. Thorton still produces at a good 3C pace. Yes, of course he’s not a 100 point scorer anymore. But he’s a 40-50 point scorer if he plays 80% of the games, like I said.
I see him playing that 3C position anyways in Toronto. I think Kerfoot will be on a wing. And like I said, Toronto needs more players like Killorn, and that 2nd line would be so much more dangerous and tougher with him on it. And if Hyman leaves next year in FA, Killorn steps right in on the 1st Line LW.
And we’ll see about TB. I think they are gonna have to retain something on TJ, McDonough and Killorn. Along with adding assets to trade them. They still get their cap space if they retain 1M on TJ and Killorn. They get 7M in cap space still. And if they did this and then traded McDounough. And still have Dermott and his cheap contract. I think it makes sense for bothering toronto and TB.</div></div>
Ya dude, all good. Agree to disagree

Laine trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PGHBOB69</b></div><div>I said Kotkaniemi+ Romanov and a 1st.
U won’t see Caufield until he is 23-24 years old. Most guys 5’9 and under u don’t see in the NHL until they are 22 or older. It’s why Caufield fell to 15th. GM’s know that he gonna take time. And he can’t play bottom 6. He’s a top 6 or bust. And he’s 5’8, 160 pounds. Laine is 6’3, and was 6’3, 200 pounds at 19; physical ready to play at 18-19 years old. GL not getting the puck taking away from u from Shea Weber in practice or PK Subban in a game, when u are a 19 year old kid and just a tiny little guy. I don’t care how fast u are. The ice surface is too small. I don’t care how well u use the boards, and try to go around. U arnt keeping them from running u over until u get stronger and get your “man body” around 22 or older.</div></div>
Yes cause Caufield hasn't been doing well in the NCAA against bigger stronger opponents already. I mean he only lead the Big Ten division in scoring last season, was a point per game player and won freshman of the year for the NCAA and is already over a PPG this season, but you keep doubting him and he will keep proving all his critics wrong. BTW he will be signing his ELC at the end of this season according to all the pundits.

Kilhorn has way more value than that.
Even though TB needs to move some salaries out and Dermott would be a nice lge minimum young guy to bring in, the salary retention wouldn't happen.
After moving Johnson and kapanen, TOR is running out of mid-priced/salaried assets. Kerfoot and Hyman are really the only tradeable guys left between 1.7mil and 5mil

Peeke is hands down the number one d prospect Columbus has, the reason he isn’t listed as a top prospect on some of the things you read online is the fact that he played NHL games last year. Peeke is also the only top 4 potential d prospect Columbus really has and will most likely replace Savard following next season due to cap reasons for us to keep other key players.
Not to mention with now too many centers Columbus has no room for Kerfoot. Who could be a waste of money and assets to fill any sort of top 6 wing role with Hoffman and Granlund still being UFAs.
This trade is very highly unlikely for a Columbus standpoint.
