<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Poehling</b></div><div>It’s been reported MTL received several serious offer for Anderson last year at the TDL but Kent Hughes like the player and want to keep him. So you can’t say ‘’if a team would want him (IF lol) they wouldn’t offer much’’ … like bro come on. MTL fans aren’t saying he’s a great player, we are saying it would take a lot to move him because we love the player even if he’s bad defensively & injured prone</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jake4leafs</b></div><div>Your love for a player has no impact on his value to GMs. Dude makes 5.5M until 26-27, scored 20 goals once and is very often hurt. That says all you need to know</div></div>
Exactly this. I don't think Josh Anderson is a great hockey player. He is good, and his highly servicable, but is vastly overpaid (especially in a flat cap world).
Doesn't mean a team won't give up a pile for him. Plenty of teams overpay for meh players if they think it can help them win.
Ben Chiarot got a first, fourth, and a prospect. He isn't a great hockey player. Look at the Jones trade - we all thought Duncan Keith was washed and overpaid - EDM gave up good assets for him. Nick Foligno got a first at the deadline. Christian Dvorak went for a first and a second. Jonathan Drouin got a top prospect and a conditional pick, Brandon Hagel went for a two firsts and two young roster players. Rasmus Ristolainen got a first and a second - it doesn't matter if the player is overpaid, or overrated - it a GM thinks he can help the team win, they overpay all the time

Josh is one of the best top speed skaters in the league he can provide non point related value to a line. Jamie skating has deteriorated to the point where it has become a issue.
Any trade is forward looking at teams would easily take Anderson over benn going forward with the context of their deals.</div></div>
Logic doesn't work here, it's a Leaf fan hating on the Habs. Save your efforts.

I guess I chose not to comment on the GK as Joe Vrbetic was drafted only last year and Beck Warm is a career AHL GK, but you are correct.

Buffalo is very fortunate to be able to host this event.

Sabres only have a couple of their top prospects playing (Savoie, Rosen), as it sounds like Kulich won't be participating now because of a nagging injury. They have a lot of invites who aren't even Sabres prospects in the line-up. Seems most of the top guys are either being held out for training camp, injured, in college or playing overseas. A bit disappointing really.

3rd line is more offensive than 2nd line IMHO. Guindon is a goal scorer and Simoneau is a wizard with the puck. Heineman is more of high end checker at the next level and Condotta is probably a career AHL'er. Beck is the cog on that line alone.

Habs will expect to trade him for a package similar to the one they got for Chiarot. Honestly we love him, just gave him an 'A'. He's not going anywhere unless doing it will help the team and a 2nd and 3rd without cap retention would not be enough.
No way the Habs use one of their retention slots for 2 years on this deal. We need those to trade Drouin, Dadonov, and Monahan at the TDL.

Yes a defenseman for sure. Chabot and Zub are top four guys but everyone else is more third pairing guys. Yes Sanderson has a lot of upside but asking him to be a top four guy right out of the gate is very hard to do. Especially when he could be playing with Hamonic or Zaitsev.
How many rookie d-men have been immediate top 4 impact guy's in the past 3 or 4 years? Maybe Seider, Hughes, Heiskanen, Dahlin, Makar??

Tanking for Bedard or Fantilli
One thing to keep in mind is that if MTL maintain status quo, they will be a better team than they were last year. Habs led the league last year in "man games" lost due to injuries. Logically, just having a healthier roster will have the Habs finishing higher in the standings....
If you really want to tank... Jake Allen NEEDS to go, Price will also need to go back on LTIR, and guys like Armia, Hoffman, Drouin, and Dvorak all need to be shipped out ASAP (if any one of them has a bounce back season and puts up good numbers, that will mean more wins).
Not to mention you still want the young core to continue to get better (Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Harris, Guhle, Barron, etc.) Anyone of them steps up their game (which we want).....means more wins
So MTL could get a perfect storm of a healthy roster, bounce back years from Vets, and the current youth core continuing to improve....Habs could be right back to being a middle of the pack team...

Mesar was drafted were Poehling was drafted, and look at Poehling now. He was 22 yo and still didnt have a spot on the top 9 so no reason that Mesar would be top 9 ready at 20 yo
2028-2029 is more likely, Gulhe-Barron will be 25ish yo, Suzuki and Caufield Dach are going to be in their prime with Slafkovsky and hopefully a top 5 pick in 2023. One of Farrell Roy Mesar should hit, hopefully. Heineman Ylonen Beck could be solid bottom sixers
We are far away to be good with Gallagher and Armia anchor contract and we need defense badly
I hope Primeau turns out good too</div></div>
I feel that both might be top 9 by 2024-2025, Mesar, unlike Poehling, is used to playing against men, Roy, might start in laval when eligible but if he's clearly dominating the ahl, he's most likely going to end up in the nhl. the top 3 in the 2023 draft are most likely ready due to the fact that they are generational, but michkov is in russia til 2026 i think, but fantilli has the frame to be nhl ready. Farell is probably the odd man out, but im pretty sure that by then two of roy-farell-mesar are going to be ready.

Bedard then Fanitlli, bottom 3 most likely going to be ARZ, CHI then MTL if Price doesnt play. Michkov would be perfect for CHI as they can wait and tank for a few more years. if we end up 1st oa its def bedard, if we end up 2 then fantilli and chi gets michkov. we could try and get some pieces that are needed. top 6 would be ready by then. Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield Roy-Fantilli-Mesar. could try and get PLD and sign him on a 6 year deal around 7-8mil. its the defense and goalie (hopefully primeau ready by then) that needs a bit of tweaking by then.

Yeah, I was genuinely curious about what he thought of that fact.
I wonder if it's worth picking Michkov over Fantili it we have to wait till 2027 before he can play with us. I feel like it's beyond the sweet spot for when want to ice the best team. I might be wrong... But dang 2027 is far away.
And like you I think we want to get big so Fantili would also be my pick. (as of right now)
