<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Poehling</b></div><div>It’s been reported MTL received several serious offer for Anderson last year at the TDL but Kent Hughes like the player and want to keep him. So you can’t say ‘’if a team would want him (IF lol) they wouldn’t offer much’’ … like bro come on. MTL fans aren’t saying he’s a great player, we are saying it would take a lot to move him because we love the player even if he’s bad defensively &amp; injured prone</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jake4leafs</b></div><div>Your love for a player has no impact on his value to GMs. Dude makes 5.5M until 26-27, scored 20 goals once and is very often hurt. That says all you need to know</div></div>

Exactly this. I don't think Josh Anderson is a great hockey player. He is good, and his highly servicable, but is vastly overpaid (especially in a flat cap world).

Doesn't mean a team won't give up a pile for him. Plenty of teams overpay for meh players if they think it can help them win.

Ben Chiarot got a first, fourth, and a prospect. He isn't a great hockey player. Look at the Jones trade - we all thought Duncan Keith was washed and overpaid - EDM gave up good assets for him. Nick Foligno got a first at the deadline. Christian Dvorak went for a first and a second. Jonathan Drouin got a top prospect and a conditional pick, Brandon Hagel went for a two firsts and two young roster players. Rasmus Ristolainen got a first and a second - it doesn't matter if the player is overpaid, or overrated - it a GM thinks he can help the team win, they overpay all the time
