Next year with Barzal extension kicking in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Warrior24</b></div><div>Isles need to move out Bailey next summer and possibly Pageau if Raty shows he is ready to step in. Mayfield may be looking at getting the Gunbrandson contract (4x4) and I cannot blame him for taking that if someone offers it as he has be playing on such a cheap contract the last few years. Holmstrom also looks ready to move into an NHL role and may get a few games this year depending on injuries.
If Pageau stays and Bailey and Mayfield leave I think you would be looking at:
Beau-Barzal-Wahlstrom
Lee-Nelson- Holmstrom
Raty-Pageau-Palmeri
Bellows-Cizikas-Clutter
Martin
Johnston
Pelech-Pulock
Romanov-Dobson
Salo-New RD
Aho
Sorokin
Varly- resigned to 2 year 2.5M contract</div></div>
Yes Mayfield could get more, depending like you said if he gets offered more. I didn’t lowballed him so he might take that
Allen just got 2 years @ 3.85M so I can’t see Varlamov taking 2.5M only
That’s why I went for a proven solid back up goaltender in Vladar. I think CGY could move him for help on the top 9 and make Wolf the back up, he looks ready

2023-24 : 83.5M
2024-2025 : 86Mish
2025-2026 : 92Mish
So Bailey contract will be expired before a major jump
Tarasenko will be UFA in 2023-2024

You have the best profile pic my man !

I really thought we couldnt do any worse than last year with Marty St-Louis being there full time, but that defense without Edmundson is just soooo bad
No one can score goals outside Suzuki and Caufield, Dvorak is playing with 2 bad players in Dadonov and Gallagher, Dach looks good tho but he will be stock with one of Drouin or Hoffman.
MTL excellent/good players : Suzuki Caufield Dach Dvorak / Decent players : Monahan Evans Pitlick / Bad : Hoffman Drouin Dadonov Gallagher Armia Pezzetta yep and on defense Matheson Savard Wideman are ok the rest are unproven ...

Dach Mesar Beck Hutson Engstrom - Did anyone do better than the Habs at the draf
You never know what’s gonna happen
Look at a recent draft MTL had (2017) :
1st RD pick : Ryan Poehling - MVP WCJ Hat trick first game - Traded
2nd RD pick : Joni Ikonen - Injuries
2nd RD pick : Josh Brook - Injuries
3rd RD pick : Cale Fleury - Look promising, now he’s an AHLer
7th RD pick : Cayden Primeau - Excellent pick but still not NHL ready

I like the idea of Evans on the 3RW but no way Hoffman plays below Drouin IMO
Imagine if Monahan is healthy, who’s getting scratched ?
Probably Pitlick because he makes the less money (usually what MTL does)

Time For A Pelletier Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Major let down. Flames need the new blood and he was a lock to make the Flames. He can't not make this team at 21 and still be considered the top prospect, right?</div></div>
Major let down ? He never was a lock to make the Flames, no prospect are. 21 yo and not being a regular NHLer isn’t anything bad in any ways. He is still a top prospect for CGY, they don’t need to trade him … CGY still have a decent top 9 with Hubby Lindholm Mangiapane Toffoli Kadri Coleman Dube Backlund and whoever plays the best out of camp : Ruzicka or Milano. Like other Flames fans said, if he wasn’t good, why should he start the year with them ? Especially when he’s waivers exempt

Time For A Pelletier Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>So from time to time this happens that a 21/22 year old is a point per game in the AHL but cannot make it work in the NHL. It sucks but it happens. It makes no sense that he did not make the team unless the Flames have given up on him. Sometimes 5' 9" prospects don't make it.
All I'm saying is that IF Calgary has given up on Pelletier, the Habs will definitely give him a chance.</div></div>
He isn’t making the Habs anyway
So he wouldn’t play in MTL here
We already have too many wingers
Right now, one of Monahan Drouin Armia Hoffman Pitlick will start as an healthy scratch

Montreal Canadiens signed Jake Allen (2 Years / $3,850,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>Goaltending is still the team's weakest position and it's a good move only if they can find a 1A.
Health is an issue for Allen. He would be ok if he played around 30 games maximum. When his work load gets heavy, the quality of his play isn't the same, he get injured and the team's goaltending drops 2 notches.</div></div>
We are not trying to win now. Allen can’t stay healthy because they ain’t giving him a break. He plays every games until he gets injured. We don’t need a 1A goaltender, we need to complete the rebuilt. Fair contract
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Worse than Forsberg last year and got way higher AAV. Fat Habs L</div></div>
I had him getting 2 years at 4M
He completely deserve it

TDL - Dadonov Holden
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Dadonov has no business playing for the cup champs. It's a small sample size but he was awful defensively in the games he's played during training camp. He had 2 turnovers that lead to goals by CHL players in the last few minutes of the game against the Jets
In any case, if you want him, the Habs accept.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Thanks for the honest feedback. Usually fans tend to overvalue their own players so it's refreshing to see an unbiased response.
I figured that the Avs have a lot of good two-way forwards throughout the lineup but are a bit lighter on pure goalscorers or skilled forwards after Burakovsky and Kadri left. Adding a LHS forward like Dadonov would give them another offensive weapon for the middle 6 and PP2.
I think the Avs are aware of this need which is why they signed Galchenyuk to a PTO, and assuming that Newhook can handle 2C then a scoring forward could be what they go after at the deadline.</div></div>
Dadonov had a bad game in one preseason game … can you wait until they play real games before saying he’s bad lol

Admittedly, I didn't see it coming and I don't think he's a flash in the pan
It's coming from someone who called Andrew Hammond like that when everybody was raving about him as he was having insane stats in 2014-15 (20-1-2 and 0.941 SV%)</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>He was excellent for Ottawa last year. .917 sv% and a 2.82 GAA. Advanced goalie stats were even more impressive, putting him the top 15 range of starting goalies last year. On a brutal defensive team.
I think it'll be a tandem, but going into the season Forsberg is who you're betting on imo. He's the guy until Talbot shows otherwise. Sens haven't been in this good of a position in net since Anderson/Condon in 2017.</div></div>
I know Forsberg is really good, I just thought Talbot was a more solidified starter. But like all of you said, he was too good last year to not begin the year as the starter
