All Out Trade
Not a chance Tampa lets go of roster players, especially for that return. I would love for this to happen, bu there's just no way a sane GM would ever accept that offer from the Rangers.

NYR Trying to be realistic
Picks don't leave teams that rebuild. Especially a lottery pick. Doesn't matter if that gets you Tolvanen. Undervalued Miller and Zucc returns.

Too much for Carolina to give up. Not that value is off, but I just don't think trading young developing players for backstrom is in their interest.

Definitely agree about Tolvanen being better than Nash. I think Nash fetches first and mid prospect. As for zucc, I disagree. Yes he scores less goals. But that’s never been his strength which is passing. Maybe he doesnt get what I listed as a return, but I think he could bring back a blue chip and a pick. Not a first necessarily but like a 2nd or 3rd. Remember his cap hit and that there’s two playoff runs with him.
Or maybe I’m completely wrong. Guess we find out in next week.
Back to Tolvanen though, I’m really excited for him to come to the nhl. He’s gonna be unreal once he adjusts to smaller rink and different play style.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hazard</b></div><div>You are so off. Nash isnt the game breaking player he once was. Zucc has been awful this season. NSH already said theyll call up Tolvanen, who is a better player then both Nash and Zuc so why would they pay a premium for them?
Nash is worth a 1st and Aberg. Meanwhile Zucc is worth a 2nd and Aberg. Thats it. NSH wont give up its blue chip prospects for a rental, be real</div></div>
Really? Nash is not valued more than zucc. Zucc is quietly putting up points. He's still going to break 50 easily. No guarantee that Tolvanen is going to be unbelieveable when he gets here. It's a risk at moment, but he has a very bright future.

Not getting Connor from them. Better off going for roslovic. As for Mac, TB and BOS aren’t fits. What rangers want is not what is going to be given up. Best off revisiting a trade for him at the draft unless someone comes out of nowhere and gives a crazy offer. If a team were to do that I would guess blues since they have trade chips to get it done but I really can’t see it happening.

Fabbro is a potential Ellis replacement should he not resign in a couple years.</div></div>
I don’t think Ellis is going anywhere. He likes Nashville and Rinne comes off books which will allow them to keep him.

Makes sense. I think the value is there but that’s a lot of future talent to part with. Also both guys will need raises at end of next season that are not in blues plan for future.

I think rangers and Canadiens accept. That’s ur whole prospect pool that ur giving up though. I don’t think the blues are going to throw away all of their future for patch and McD even though they’re really good players and locker room guys.

I'm a Rangers fan and while Nash is a good fit, you have an excellent point. Neither Rangers nor preds have to even bother. Someone else will be a sucker and give up plenty for him. Nashville keeps window open. But remember cap is increasing and Rinne comes off the books same year as Ellis. So they might actually be able to keep him.
Fair warning though: Elliotte Friedman did say today Preds are all in on Nash. So while your point is excellent and I fully agree with it, it unfortunately may not happen.

I guess. But Tampa has a lot of other pieces than rangers and are at the stage where they should win cup. Yzerman is going to have to work some magic to keep everyone under cap.
Which knowing him, he will.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>Except that doesn’t help them with the Cap at all...
it hurts them
McDonaugh is almost 5mil against the Cap
Sergachev is under 1mil plus whatever bonuses
Also...
by the time Sergachev needs a raise,
Stralman, Girardi & Coburn are all up
That’s over 11mil in room
Tampa is pretty young
They don’t need to “take a run” with McD the next 2 years...
they can take a run over the next 10 with Sergachev
This trade just makes ZERO sense for Tampa sir</div></div>
Kucherov. Point. Vasilevskiy. Namestnikov. All need raises over next couple of years. Johnson Killorn Callahan palat huge contracts. Plus stamkos and Hedman of course. It makes plenty of sense to make runs at cup now with defenseman who is just as good as sergachev at the moment at the cost of offloading bad contract to sign core pieces.
If you’re gonna use word future remember that you have to pay them.
