Top 100 Prospects
It's a shame that all this effort is basically going to go unnoticed.
Solid list. I'm going to nitpick and state that you could have fit Ty Voit in there somewhere.

Wouldn't necessarily say a big amount, but it is a bit of a step backward.
I don't think this is the type of trade Philly makes for Konecny anyway, picks and prospects more likely.

Buying Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Have enough money currently to sign him vs realistically can afford to spend that amount on him are two very different things. Toronto's had difficulty filling out a complete 23 man roster with adequate depth for years because too much of the cap was dedicated to the core 4. That continues to be an issue if you keep Nylander near his asking price.
"We've got 47 million" ignors the fact that Matthews number isn't locked in yet, and the fact that that 47 million needs to buy, in additions to Matthews, 6 more forwards, 4 more defensemen, and a starting goalie.</div></div>
Let's call it 23M between Matthews and Nylander for next season. Give or take a couple of bucks seeing as all we have right now is speculation.
That leaves 23.6M to fill out 4 more forwards, 4 defenseman, and yes a starting goalie. Who knows what happens with Sammy this year, but let's call it 5M for giggles at the moment.
Now there's 18.6M for 8 roster spots. Factor in a few ELC's/minimum wage signings and this should be plenty. I think Bertuzzi is just here for the one season, meaning his likely around 7M long term deal won't be on the books.
I'm not saying this is an ideal scenario, but I'd prefer the GM to play cap gymnastics than to trade a star player for pennies on the dollar.

Value wise is probably fine, but TOR has a bigger need at RD than a depth winger.

Buying Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>To acquire him with an extension (that Toronto assumingly couldn't afford) in place and being done this season, before the TDL, I could see something near this. I think a trade would revolve around Strome, one of Ana's wing prospects like Tracey or Perrault, and a pick.
I don't see us offering a first, because as stated, few teams looks to be able to afford his salary ask, so who are we really competing with? Chicago maybe?
I could really only see this happening if Toronto completely falls apart and is in the outside looking in, I think Willy gets used as a self rental and walks as a UFA.</div></div>
Toronto can afford to extend him, I don't see why this is an argument. His extension doesn't kick in until next year, where they currently have nearly 47M to play with.

Fair enough, would have helped if I read the notes.
Even still, TOR can't accrue cap space with Muzzin on LTIR, so enough people would have to be injured at the time and added to LTIR in order to add more cap. Doesn't seem likely at this point.

Toronto currently sits 12M over the cap, and this trade involves them taking on more.
Doesn't really make much sense.

Neither Murray nor Clifford need to be in this deal. If you want to nickel and dime, leave Murray and take out Clifford and the 2nd.
TOR can absolutely most definitely afford to keep Nylander.

I think it's safe to say that there are guys on any team who played through serious enough injuries that may not pass their year-end physical. I think that was more of a "I'm here if you're really desperate and need a warm body in net".

Raking the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>Overall, I tend to think you're right. Brodie gets a lot of grief in the media because all Leafs players are under a microscope. Something would need to be worked out. Even though Murray's cap hit isn't high this year...it's not just for this year. I'm no GM, just talking out loud.</div></div>
Maybe I'm not noticing, but I don't think Brodie is getting much grief from the media. It's from the fans. He had a couple of blunders in the playoffs, if you can even call them blunders. So now the hate is shifted in his direction because he "makes too much money". He's been great since he got here, and the d-core will take a big hit if he's not around without some sort of realistic replacement.

Raking the Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>We're at an interesting point right now because the Hawks also went into arbitration with Kurashev...which means they ALSO have a window for the buyout. A trade COULD be done where the Hawks actually buyout Murray and take the full cap hit off TOR. Treliving probably isn't just thinking about this year. Maybe Brodie and Murray sent to CHI? I like Brodie. I don't think he's worth his current cap hit, BUT he's better than Zaitsev. That's for sure.
Caveat being, I haven't kept up on whether or not Murray is "injured"...I have a feeling that'll work itself out.</div></div>
That's an interesting point, but arguing that value of what would be sent to CHI seems unnecessary as no one here will agree. I don't think Brodie gets moved, but that's just me.
TOR brass has been pretty tight lipped regarding Murray's health. Typical media speculation is all we have at the moment.
