Not to mention things did not end very well between CBJ's front office and RyJo, so not sure they'd want to dip back into that.</div></div>
This trade will never happen but I actually don’t hate it. Jackets don’t need the cap next year so might as well get a stopgap center. This buys time for our first pick and sillinger to develop more while making the jackets more competitive next year. Also clears up a log jam at RD

Columbus gets its center
Jenner isn’t available, and Calgary would hardly be interested for that for Lindholm.
And if Columbus has fourth overall, they regrettably probably take Smith or Benson over Michkov.

They could have some real cap issues in two off seasons (Aho, Teuvo, Necas & Jarvis all expire). I could maybe see them moving him if they need to then, but probably not this off season.

realistic next season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>Main issue I see is Chinny on the 4th line.
A 1st round pick whose game is built around his shot should not be logging six minutes a night on the checking line. Send him to CLE.
I also see at least one of KJ or Marchenko spending some time in CLE. No need to rush them.
In that case, I don't trade Robinson. Him, Tex, and Kuraly were our most consistent and soundly productive line all last season. I'd be hesitant to break it up.</div></div>
Marchenko would have to have some serious flaws in his game exposed during pre-season to be spending time in Cleveland. He's going into his d+4 year and he is the clear standout at development camp along with Jiricek from what I've been reading. The guy is ready for the NHL and we should all be expecting big things from him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bdawwwgy1</b></div><div>This is a good group but it's a group who gives up an insane amount of cross ice passes and defensively one of the worse defenses this year. IMO Sign Booshkin or trade Bean for a more defensive dman</div></div>
I couldnt agree more. Exactly this!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>Jenner is a 2c at best imo, so we really should upgrade at the 1c position and move Jenner down the line up. That being said I think we need to be more patient with Roslovic, he has shown flashes of being a top 6 center </div></div>
In a perfect world yes. But we are not getting clear number 1 center just like that. There is none in free agency and if you try to trade for one, you have to give enormous amount of value in exchange. We have to draft and develop new top6 centers and hope they are the real deal. Until then, Jenner is our 1C.
We can go to next year with centers Jenner-Roslovic-Sillinger-Kuraly, but if there is an opportunity to upgrade on Roslovic then Jarmo should do it. Roslovic is better on the wing. Sillinger keeps on developing, Voronkov comes over after next year and maybe Kent Johnson proves me wrong and he playes center on NHL level?

My heart breaks for Miroshnicheko and i hope he gets drafted on the early side still, but CBJ can't afford to take him where their pick will be. Would be a major reach considering nobody knows his future

Muzzin at this point is a cap dump. You would have to give up some assets to get rid of him. But the Jackets don’t want or need him so, no.

Rebuild the right way
I wouldn’t be drafting Miroshnichnko with a top 15 pick, maybe if he falls to us in the 2nd round, but drafting him that early with major health issues isn’t a smart move.
I’d love to see Columbus draft Nemec or the other RHD (Juricik or something like that) and another center.
Also if we really wanted to add a center, I’d take a look at what the price for Monahan, he is out of favor in Calgary and maybe a change is good for him, plus with 1 season left on his 6+ contract he wouldn’t be long term if he doesn’t work.

Thread:
2022
Can't see the Canucks gambling on Kasper with four RHD still on the board. Chesley's the best fit, IMO, but Salomonsson would be good, too. Both might be a reach given where the Canucks pick from, but they are desperate for help in the top of that right side.
I'd take a shot at Kasper if I had a second first round pick; he's a big body that gets around the ice well. But I think questions with his offensive production might push him to the 2nd round.
Disagree on the previous poster's assertion Yurov will fall. I know the political climate might have some teams a little freaked about drafting Russian players, but I can't see teams passing on his talent (unless there is a question with his character?) If he fell to the Canucks, he'd make me seriously rethink taking a RHD.
I'm wondering if Connor Geekie might not move up quite a bit, similar to the way McTavish did last year? Howard is another guy I could see moving up significantly from where you have him.
Agree with Bichsel and Gaucher. Two guys I commonly see ranked in the second round that could easily go in the first. D Mats Lindgren is another.

Stop it. Just stop it. Foligno is going to stick with the team he thinks has the best chance of chasing a Cup, and the Jackets aren't taking him back on his current contract.

I think this is probably fair.
CBJ are aware of where they are - playing well, sure, but still a huge jump out of the playoffs. They aren’t going to give up futures unless they feel a substantial asset is coming their way.
I could see a Domi and Bemstrom package, something like that, for what you offered; but, you aren’t going to see notable picks or prospects going your way absent CBJ being blown away by what is being sent to them.
