Thread: Soucy Out 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Prime_Jimbo</b></div><div>Copp was a rental a two years ago, fetched a conditional first, conditional 2nd, 5th and Morgan Barron.

If Van moves these picks and Pod, I'd argue that's equivalent. Now for the 2nd year, it's not a stretch to see how it could be worth another prospect. Albeit, a RHD, whose been scorching lately.</div></div>

So first of all you know he isn't a center and never really has been. So 1 he won't be able to play 2c for us and you have to value him as a winger.

The 1st was conditional on a pretty significant condition (need to make the conference finals and play at least half the games), otherwise it was a second.

Toffoli is probably a better comp it's 2.5 years at 4.25 instead 1.5 of 2.9m. You could subtract the subsequent trade and adjust for the retention. That's probably the best way.

Calgary sent 1.75m cap dump back for the trade deadline so cap is about even that year, so only need to adjust for cap in second year.

1.5 years of Toffoli was worth 1st, 4th, 5th and Emil Heineman (2nd round pick in d+3 year probably a C prospect at the time comparable to Klimovich right now)

1.35m full year of cap retention would be less than a 2nd (bailey trade out to Chicago with buyout was [1.166x2 years) was for a 2026 2nd) it's probably 2024 3rd but we'll say a 2nd to be conservative.

They got a 3rd and a good prospect/roster player back, got to be worth at least a 2nd (although probably more), but we can say that to be conservative.

So adding it all up you've got 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and Klimovich/3rd minus a 2nd and 3rd. So could be 1sr, plus 4th and 5th or 1st, 4th, 5th and Klimovich with a 3rd coming back. So why not say to be conservative drop the third coming back and it's 1st, 4th, 5th and Klim for this, hell you could drop Klim and the 4th and put in a second if you want to go wild. That you're still and Podz and Hunter too high.

I think the realistic trade is probably about Podz and a 1st.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vancity2196</b></div><div>Kuzmenko didn’t ask for a trade, and he is not going anywhere.</div></div>

I'm fine with the logic of trading him, but not selling him low, I think a first is fine and if it saves cap and moves money from wing to D or C I'm for it. I never said he asked for a trade.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BoringBrianMacLellan</b></div><div>A top 6 scoring winger signed past this season would be huge for the Caps lol

but yea, I don't see Mantha fitting in Van. And the Caps won't move that first unless it's something crazy</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>People need to stop thinking Mantha is contract dump. We're way past that. He's been stellar for the last month. He's not going anywhere and if he is it will be for something good. But even if Mantha is struggling, so is Kuzmenko, Caps wouldn't be throwing in a 1st. It would be a clean swap.</div></div>

Fine drop Mantha, I was viewing it as neutral value with retention.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canuckfan98</b></div><div>idk how comfortable id be with Laughton as a 2c</div></div>

If he can't handle it he's still a good winger at that price or bottom 6C and you can move Miller back, but I think the value of getting Miller to wing is worth it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaiser1776</b></div><div>I’m not sure if Brière would take it he did pass on 2 1st round picks on let someone acquire him during the draft</div></div>

I've heard the rumour, but everything since has suggested it was not true. It sounds like it was at most 1st plus something else.
