If youre going all-in go all-in
I think that the Flames could get more in a separate trades. I spitball Lindholm's value as a 1st+2nd, and Tanev as 2 x 2nds.
It comes down to how one evaluates Raty, and Brzustewicz. I would rather have 2 x 2nds. I don't think the Flames could flip Myers, so he's a negative asset in this trade.

When Healthy
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>I'm honestly confused as to why, if bear is injured, the canucks didn't just resign him and stick him on LTIR to start the year since they're already using LTIR space? Then they could pay him a full 1.6 without a cap hit being higher. Maybe the league would have looked at that as cap circumvention too tho idk. Or Ig maybe the 10% rule to start the year?</div></div>
The Canucks plan was to re-sign him at a higher rate, 2.2m-3m range, before he was injured. Because he was injured with a December/January return time, that meant the Canucks turned their focus towards two defenders in FA, rather than just one. Cole and Soucy were signed, and the idea was that Vancouver would clear cap space out before Bear returned, either through other LTIR or trades. I think Canucks management is worried that Bear may not be playing at 100% for this season, and intend to sign him closer to league minimum as a 'show me' and then determine out of Bear/Zadorov/Cole which ones stay next year.

If Garland puts up another 40+ point season and the Hawks need to add some cap, they might consider this. But if Garland's season ends up sub-30 points as he's trending so far, Canucks will be paying to move his contract.

Team North America
So many options obviously that it's hard to pick, but personally if you're not going to play Eichel at C I'd play, Guentzel or Kyle Connor on LW. Guentzel has 99 goals in the last 3 seasons and Connor at 104, both high end scorers. Just better options imo if you're trying to put a legit team together. Or Kreider even.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyB</b></div><div>Agree about the trade value. Boeser coming off the books gives us roughly $43 million in space for 24-25. That's enough to re-sign Petey, Nylander, and Hronek with $15-$18 million left to fill out the roster.</div></div>
would you keep Boeser? I would on a 3 x $4mil. Also gotta think about Beauvillier and Podkolzin. That 15-18 Mil runs out quick

I think the leafs would want a 1st, 2nd and Boeser. the bigger problem is Nylander wants like $10 Mil+

The value just isn't there for Nylander. Boeser's value alone is not enough to warrant a pretty much one for one deal with some picks to balance it out. Toronto probably demands a first and maybe a little more in return.

If Nylander is extending in Vancouver he should get back a 1st and 2nd with Boeser. Nylander is a substantially more valuable player even on a $10m/yr. deal.

Yeah this is a pretty dramatic lowball. Not sure why leafs fans would propose a deal like this for a nylander Boeser swap essentially. Boeser doesn’t carry much value right now.

One Last Miller Proposal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyB</b></div><div>Ok, so you don't want Miller, and you're not trading Lysell, that's completely fair. How does trading from a position of strength (RD) for the better player at a position of need (C) "set you back a couple years"? That's a genuine question.</div></div>
Because Carlo is 25 and on a cheap team friendly deal, his contract of 4.1 mill will age very nicely in the next few season when the cap goes up close to 10 mill.
Miller on the other hand is what 30-31 and not on the greatest contract due to the term.
Bruins most likely are about to be retooling real quick here and paying vets on the wrong side of 30 big money long term won’t help us, I don’t want to be Calgary and be stuck in mediocrity with a bunch of bad contracts

Boston doesn’t want miller lol, when will canucks fans understand that.
We aren’t giving up our top prospect for him and we sure as hell aren’t giving up a 25yr old top 4 RHD for him.
Moving lysell and Carlo for miller doesn’t improve our team it sets us back a couple years

Leafs Blockbuster
This trade looks much much better from the Canucks side of things lol, but they are a team with an abundance of wingers who will need to get paid, so giving up a known entity in Garland who is locked probably isn't the move even if they wanted Nylander, and Garland probably isn't what the Leafs need anyways if they are looking to resign Miller+Bunting.
Giving up Niemela+Sandin would would be a mistake for the Leafs future on defense, but let's just remove Garland and Niemela from the trade. Add Hoglander as the cost controlled option, and then balance the trade from their, Vancouver retaining on Miller makes no sense as it doesn't help Toronto in this trade.
Miller+Hoglander+Rathbone/Poolman for Nylander+Sandin+a pick is probably a deal that makes more sense. Then can add Kerfoot and Dickinson to make the cap work. Maybe Rathbone can be traded by Van for Lundkvist, all I know is you can't just LTIR Poolman.
Edit: Looking at the cap, there's going to be like 3.35-4.35m going to Vancouver if it's just Miller+Hoglander+Poolman for Nylander+Kerfoot+Sandin, so there isn't really a deal to be made here unless Myers is moved in a separate deal for picks.

Canucks 23-24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyB</b></div><div>Fair enough. As a CBJ fan, would you make this trade today?</div></div>
No, because right now we need to have Peeke available and we don't know what those picks are going to be like. We could be playoff-bound or we could end up even worse off than last season; we need to see how the team as it's constructed now will work before we can make that call. We simply can't afford Miller as a "core piece" going forward, so he's only useful strictly as a rental, and it would be a little silly to pay for a rental before you know whether or not said rental would be constructive for your plans or not.

That Miller proposal, given the constraints described, looks plausible now, but I wouldn't count on it remaining so throughout the year. Even if we are in playoff position, it may be because, say, Peeke has a breakout year and becomes untouchable, or KJ and Sillinger both take off and we end up without a need for another C.

I don't see why the Canucks don't just give Miller up for free considering his contract will end in a yr.

Would you do Dillon, a 1st, and a 2nd for Garland? Dillon can play as RD if you want him to, although he isn’t the greatest at it. The Dillon and Stanley pairing from last year still gives me nightmares lol.
