No no I know. I was just giving my opinion on this haha. I think kakko could put himself in the 3 1sts category if he has a great sophomore season

I considered Jones, as well. Some of these Prospects are going to be moved eventually. Not everyone can play. Of their Top Defensive Prospects, I have Jones 5th (Lundkvist, Miller, Schneider and Robertson). Willing to move.

I dont think a single decision you made in this AGM makes sense. Trouba is not getting traded 8 days before his NTC kicks in, no one would ever negotiation in good faith with Gorton again. Plus new CBA means teams trading for trouba would have to follow his NTC. Its just not happening.
Strome DeAngelo Georgiev and BL contracts all make no sense. Strome either signing for 1 year or 6+, Tony D and Strome arent getting same AAV, BL isnt get that much term, 2 years max right now. Georgiev is getting a 2 year deal, 3 takes him straight to UFA, 3 you can trade him after the contract is up while you still hold his RFA rights.
Nils is not at risk to not sign.

So basically, if you break it down, we would spend about 3.5m to jump from 38 to 22. Interesting, i dont think i would do it for that though. Maybe if it was 28 to 12, depending on our draft board.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>Andersson & Middlestat are basically a swap of the 2017 draft, i thoght that would be fun.
McCabe is a UFA after 20/21 so i figured he was availabel, also not looking for NYR to acquire a LHD with that much term as they have K. Miller & Y.Ryckov in the wings as well.
Roberstson is a gem LHD but hes 2 years away from the NHL probably & has top 4 potential.
BUF has a ton of cap space, that's why i looked at them for this scenario & they move up 16 spots in the draft from #38 OA to #22 OA, that's really the value in this whole thing.
Plus a new GM sometimes likes to make a splash, i guess getting Eric Staal was something of a splash ...</div></div>
It looks like they have a lot of cap space, but they just have a lot of RFA’s to core players. Maybe Ottawa or Detroit would be willing to buyout Hank, I just can’t see the Sabres doing it when they might not be able to afford their own players this offseason.

Sabres probably decline. The owners are pinching pennies this season. They probably don’t want to spend 3.5 on Lundqvist along with losing McCabe they are thin at LD and draft picks.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>Interesting? #52 & #71 for a young RFA goalie ? Especially with OTTs current goalie situation & their abundance of picks in the 2020 draft. I know there are a lot of goalies on the UFA market but they'll cost more dollars than AG & frankly, it may be a tough sell to get a UFA goalie to OTT without overpaying. (due to Ottawa's recent seasons, i hear it's lovely place to live!)
Curious , what your offer for AG would be?</div></div>
Thats the point, the value is fine, its just that OTT shouldnt be making an offer for a goalie right now. There shouldnt be an offer.
1. We still have NIlsson on the books, and his last 2 seasons in Ottawa have been just as good as Georgiev in NYR
2. We are not trying to compete next year
3. OTT has a ton of goalie prospects developing.
I would rather OTT stay out of the goalie market this year, and then make a move next year once we know what we have.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>Why do you think NYR can's use LTIRR? Because of the current number of buyouts, retained salaries?</div></div>
Simple NYR can not use LTIR with bonuses they are carrying. The bonus cushion for a 81.5 million cap is 6.1 million (7.5%). If you have bonuses that are over that it would mean you have to be that much under the cap in order to be legal. LTIR doesnt count unless you are over the cap and doesnt start until the start off the league year. You can not have both LTIR with bonuses that exceed the limits. Remember LTIR is not bankable nor is it cap space under the CBA, its relief. NYR is going with the Laf and other bonus babies is going to have a cap limit of about 75-76 million or someone is going to have be traded or in the minors.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>Fair point as well but OTT may not see him as a Long term option but a RHD that can put up 50 plus points & play PP1 at a likely manageable cap hit (5.5 million) can add value now & trade value down the line, hes 24 it's not some sort of cap dump.
What would your ask for the 3RD 1st rounder (ISL) ?</div></div>
OTT has their 2 offensive defenseman in Brannstrom and Chabot.
The problem is that there were behavioural concerns, and that this was a career year. I dont know to what degree we can bank on this production next year.
OTT is at the depth of a rebuild, and were not at the point to try and accelerate the rebuild. Most likely were just gonna take a swing on a high ceiling pick with NYI.
NYR can definitely get this kind of value for DeAngelo, the value is fair, its just that OTT isnt the correct fit.

Would Ottawa take Smith's last year for dropping that 3rd in the Tony trade? Smith's salary is lower than his cap hit next season, which has Melnyk written all over it. Just flip him at the deadline to some team that wants a depth dman. Can also toss in Lias if they want more to take that on.

Our target should be Larkin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>redw1n9s</b></div><div>Well Larkin has never been in the top 20 producing centers in the league so I assume you were referring to advanced stats.
Anyway agree to disagree - but we can agree that Pav is one of the best ever. My favorite of all time.</div></div>
From 2017-2018 to 2019-2020 season among all NHL center at 5v5:
1. Connor McDavid - 185pts
2. Leon Draisaitl - 158pts
3. Nathan MacKinnon - 154pts
4. Brayden Point - 141pts
T-5. Steven Stamkos - 137pts
T-5. Auston Matthews 137pts
7. Claude Giroux - 133pts
8. Mathew Barzal - 132pts
9. Aleksander Barkov - 131pts
10. Evgeni Malkin - 130pts
11. John Tavares - 128pts
12. Sean Couturier - 125pts
13. Sidney Crosby - 123pts
T-14. Evgeny Kuznetsov - 121pts
T-14. Dylan Larkin - 121pts
T-14. Sebastian Aho - 121pts
There are only 13 other centers over the last 3 years that have produced more points at 5v5 than Larkin. Outside of maybe Barkov, all these guys play for contenders, while Larkin plays for one of the worst teams in the league.

So prospect A & a 2020 2nd that becomes a 2020 1st If team wins (2) playoff rounds (CK plays in 50% of the playoff games) or the 2020 2nd becomes a 2021 1st if CK resigns with the team, summer 2020.
NYR would also send its 2021 2nd in return as CKs signing would likely be after the June 2020 draft.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skeating622</b></div><div>See we got a dialogue now!
I think conditions are the new black in deals & Gorton seems to like them.
Lets say Bruins make it to the ECF, minimum & CK plays 50% of the playoff games. That 2020 1st is pick 28-32 , B's get a 3rd back(DAL) as well (lets say 78-82) ..
Lets say B's get knocked out in Round 2 (sorry) ..B's resign CK for 7 @ 6.75..? Hometown kid is home Rah Rah Rah ... Assuming the B's are still an upper echelon team in 20/21 ... So in light of speculation on the 2021 playoffs lets say that 2021B's 1st is between 24-32 ... lets say NYR gets a bit better but lets not go crazy & they are at 16-18 overall, so that 2021 2nd is the 47th-49th pick. ... to make up for the 2020 2nd NYR would have already acquired by the first condition not being met.
scenario 1 Kreider - for John Beecher & BOS 2020 2nd (59-63 overall) ( BOS does not make it to ECF, CK does NOT resign with BOS)
scenario 2 . Kreider & NYR 2020 -3rd (DAL) 78-82 overall) for John Beecher & BOS 2020 1st (28-32 overall) ( BOS makes it to at least, ECF & CK plays in 50% of playoff games)
scenario 3 Kreider & NYR 2021 2nd (47-49) for John Beecher, BOS 2020 2nd (59-63 overall), BOS 2021 1st (24-32 overall) First condition is NOT met, CK resigns with Boston summer 2020 UFA</div></div>

Hypothetically speaking, i think the Beecher and a 3rd that could be upgraded to a second based on re-signing or a SCF appearance is reasonable. That said, I think Sweeney really likes Beecher. Just my opinion, i don’t base it on all that much, but some of the conversation leads me to believe that they drafted him based on his tools, and they think they can really develop them, and aren’t likely to give him up. Then again they did that with Senyshyn too, and that was an absolutely brutal pick, so maybe they should.
