OMG why not add keller and schmaltz into to just to make even more ridiculous.
Oh but AZ gets a late 1st</div></div>
You might be overselling McBain a little bit, sure he's only had 1 full season in the NHL but he didn't do that well and he's 23 now. Robertson's value is probably relatively similar as he's only 21. That being said it's still an absolutely terrible deal for Arizona, why would they take on two expensive contracts for an ok prospect and a low first round pick? This deal would never happen.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PantsOffnJacket</b></div><div>Nylander extends after trade, 8.8M x 7 years</div></div>
If Nylander were offering to sign for 8.8Mx7 Toronto would probably sign him rather than trade him. Maybe NJ could convince him to take a little under 10, like 9.6Mx7. I still think that's reasonable for Nylander on a long-term contract with the cap going up, but Toronto can't afford it. He's definitely superior to Bratt, but Bratt is also a bit younger. If NJ can trade and sign Nylander I think they would seriously consider this, it just sucks that they recently extended Bratt but if it makes the team better they would do it.

New York wins this trade by a mile so of course they say yes. Philadelphia might be ok with it, but might ask for more considering they're taking Murray's contract, retaining 50% of Nylander's contract, and giving up Hart. Toronto would hang up the phone immediately.

If this is the asking price, which it could very well be, I can't see Toronto trading him. If they're allowed, they'll just buy him out. If not, he'll be put on LTIR.

Toronto gets a big trade after clearing cap space part 2
How does this help Toronto? They're paying more for a worse player. Barzal was really hyped up a few years ago but he's taken a step back recently, and now his contract looks kind of bad. If Nylander signs with Colorado Toronto gets crushed in this trade.

Yeah, Arizona is retaining 4.6 million total from hertl and karlsson, and also taking on Murrays contract. They would likely ask for a lot more than this. At least remove Mcbain, since Toronto doesn't need him that badly anyways, their bottom 6 is fine at the moment and Mcbain needs an extension which Toronto might not have the cap space for.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>IconicHawk</b></div><div>1. Nylander improves the Kraken marginally at best

3. Chicago also declines because Murray and Robertson possess zero value to them</div></div>
1. You're crazy if you think Nylander improves the kraken 'marginally at best' when their top scorer is McCann with 70 points. One thing they could really use is a true elite forward.
2. Every team has 'untouchables' that aren't actually untouchable, Wright included. There are very few true 'untouchables' in this league.
3. Maybe Chicago does decline this trade because they want more for Murray. Robertson absolutely has value though, just not as much as he had a couple seasons ago since he's been injured. He's only 21 and is considered an NHL caliber player already. If he stays healthy he'd likely play for the Blackhawks next season, so they'd probably see value in that.

NYR targets Nylander
This would work quite well for both teams. The rangers also have to sign Kakko, and they're already pretty strong on D, so trading these prospects to get a top line right winger might help them push for the cup. Getting the cap to work will be tricky though. And Toronto might need to change that 3rd for either robertson or liljigren.

Lou gets his guy
I agree that they probably wouldn't get quite this much from the Isles. However, if there is an extension agreed upon before the trade, Toronto would probably get Dobson plus another good piece like Wahlstrom, and whatever throw-ins needed to make the cap work. Nylander instantly becomes their best player other than Sorokin.

Extension In Place For William
This doesn't really help Toronto. They're giving up a 40 goal 87 point player in his prime for a top 4 left handed D and a decent but aging forward. All of them have one year left but Toronto takes on more cap. Toronto is basically guaranteed to lose this trade.

I think this makes sense for all three teams, but Seattle is overpaying for Nylander and Brodie. Get rid of one of those firsts or at least change it to a later round and you're probably onto something. Seattle is in win-now mode and could use an elite forward in his prime, Toronto needs cap space and good prospects, and Chicago can leverage the cap space to take Murray and get a good prospect and picks in return.

Why is every trade proposal Toronto giving away either Nylander or an elite prospect to dump Murray? Treliving would have to be the worst GM of all time to do that.

If Toronto has to retain 50% there's no point in this trade, they could buy him out for less and keep the first round pick.

Lets go EK65
Toronto could use the help on defense, but giving up an elite forward just entering his prime for an elite defenseman who is expected to regress in the next couple years would be a shortsighted move. The only way I could see this happening is if Toronto has to clear a bunch of cap space for other players and the Sharks are willing to retain 30-50% of Karlsson's contract. Unlikely though.

Pinto projects to be a great player but come on, Ullmark just won the Vezina and has 2 years left at an awesome cap hit for a top goalie in the league. It'll probably take more than that if a team is serious about getting Ullmark.

Seems like a huge under payment for a player who might win the Norris trophy this year. At the same time he's 33 years old, has an extremely expensive contract that goes until 2027, and has a full no move clause. It's hard to say how much the sharks will be able to get for him, it all depends on where Karlsson wants to go and what that team is offering.

Extensions In Place For Both
Don't love it or hate it for either team, which probably means it's a relatively fair deal. Calgary needs to get rid of a goalie and Toronto has too many expensive forwards so it's possible that they can't afford Nylander's extension. Calgary could use the extra firepower up front and Toronto could use the help on defense. They'll need to figure out what to do about Samsonov/Murray though.

Barzal is a great player but I'd argue he hasn't really had a breakout season. He's only been over a point per game once and that was years ago. He's locked up for a long time but his contract isn't that team friendly given his production. I could see the islanders at least entertaining some variation of this trade.

Gibson at 4.8 million is a downgrade when they could probably resign Samsonov for cheaper and they are going to be up against the cap like usual. It's more likely that Toronto pays a team to take Murray and they run Samsonov and Woll in net.

It's an overpayment but not a huge overpayment. All 3 blues players are either already great or project to be great players, but none of them project to be superstars. Downgrading one of them to a bottom six player, or removing the first round pick would be a fairer trade.

Thoughts
Teams won't trade a top 10-15ish player in the league unless they get a comparable player in a 1 for 1 trade, OR a prospect that projects to be as good. If it's a prospect they would ask for additional pieces because most prospects don't reach their potential. While Drysdale and Comtois are good prospects, neither of them projects to reach Marner's level so I doubt this kind of deal would happen.
