Jake Muzzin type players right side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>The issue is that players that check all those boxes just aren't available. More or less there are three categories of player; there are guys who are all those things/will be all those things but are not made available by the team that has them, there are guys who have the reputation of being all those things but are actually just bad, and you have the guys who used to be all those things but due to age/injuries aren't really those things anymore.
If you're dead set on it being a RHD, the options are basically Gudas and Hamonic as UFAs, and maybe trying something like Pateryn or Lybushkin as cheap trade options. There are more options if you drop the right handed requirement, but it's still relatively slim pickings</div></div>
According to Friedman bruins may be shopping Carlo. Honestly dubas should pull the trigger if this happens as he is perfect. Rn the bruins are in an interesting predicament as there key guys are getting older and they need to soon start replacing them with prospects. In general in a year or two the playoff fallout could occur. Now this is where there rival comes into play. If Toronto sent the 15oa Boston could look into drafting Holloway, quinn, etc. This can help them start invigorating young players into there system and eventually there team. Other stuff would of course need to be added but there is a starting point in the works

Pietrangelo signs Parayko to Toronto
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>I don't think I'd do this from the Leafs. While I like Parayko, I think Nylander's potential is way too high to move on from.</div></div>
Stuff like this is why the Leafs suck. They need a d-man and are too attached to a forward that they don't need. Kyle Dubas think this as well. Until they accept that they need to move on from Nylander or Tavares they won't be able to fill that hole.

yoooo
Manson is not who the leafs need and that is an overpayment for him Dubas made it clear he wants a muzzin caliber defense man that means a guy like parayko, Ellis, pulock to name a few.

A couple blockbusters to shake these teams up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>i never really understand comments like this. So many leafs fans are obsessed with trying to sign Pietrangelo (a Norris caliber 30yo RD) to an 8-9M long term contract but say Ellis (a 29yo Norris caliber RD signed for 6.25x7) is an aging soon to be washed up player. A defensemans prime often starts around 25-27 and lasts into their mid 30's due to it being more of a wisdom based role than skill based. Because of this I would definitely say Ellis has more value than Nylander.</div></div>
The main draw to most leafs fans was pitrangelo is from Toronto and he's been linked with us for 2years (before nylander was signed and when the blues were on 34points January 2nd of last season). I never wanted him to come as I believed he would be good for2-3 years of his lets say 8.8 mill contract than we would see him slow down and not play well (like OEL) making the contract a handicap. Ellis could play well past 30 but there is also the chance his production and playstyle drops. If nylander was to be moved a young good defenseman is who I would go after.

Don’t think you’re far off here at all. Might take more to get Murray but it’s worth it considering he’s a 25 year old goalie with 2 rings coming off only one below average year.
See people saying the Canes trade doesn’t work but they are way overloaded on D and really some scoring depth and a starting goalie is what will get them over the hump. I think they’d be intrigued.

Fire Dubas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>You can certainly do a lot worse with GM's. Take it from a fan who saw Fenton trade Nino for Rask, Coyle for Donato and a very late pick, and while Fiala for Granlund looks like a home run trade for us, at the time Granny was a 2-time 60+ point winger and Fiala had not had a single season scoring more than 48 points and was coming off a major leg injury. Oh and he signed Zuccarello to a $30M deal over 5 years and gave him a NMC. Toronto fans of all fan bases should know it could be <em>a lot</em> worse.
Dubas managed to keep 3 supremely talented forwards and signed a #1 center in free agency which almost never happens in the NHL. Does he have more work to do? Certainly, but he's not as bad of a GM as some fans on here make him out to be.</div></div>
Dubas in general has only been gm for 3 years and while one of his trades (kadri) wasnt that great due to Babcocks interference he has done alot of good for this team. His FA signings and ability to grab overseas talent is amazing. His ability to find steals in later rounds of the draft (Robertson) is solid. Only other issue is his contracts of Matthews and Marner being bad. But he has improved as shown with the engvall and holl contracts.
I say give him a year or two and now that he knows the issue he should make moves to help improve our blue line or just help our team in general become more defensive without sacrificing to much of the offense.
