This definitely makes them a better team.
What do you do about coaching??</div></div>
I think granato stays. Our owner can't get out of his own way, when it comes to the Sabres. When he bought the team, he threw money around without a second thought, but he's become more conservative with the Sabres the last few years. Granato has a three year contract that hasn't started yet, pegula wants the Sabres to be a lean operation. I think what's likely is granato has to throw his assistants into the volcano, then the Sabres will blame the rest of this season on injuries. I can see granato refusing to fire his assistants and getting fired, but that's about it. The Sabres have developed a bad history of looking for coaches with ties to the organization- so if you wanna guess at who the next coach would be, I would say Seth appert (Sabres ahl coach) would be the runaway favorite, with some other former Sabres rounding out the field, i suppose ruff is an option, but we need to stop making the same mistakes over and over again. I don't see a torts or gallant coming here, which is really too bad.

Honestly if Brady was available 20+ teams would put in offers. His style of play is needed on almost every team and is rare

Realistic Options That I Want
Smith has been a 13th forward and he makes $3.1M while having a $4.3M salary on a team that needs cap space. He was also waived. I'd do this deal; Bruins would be lucky to just pay a 5th.

Shattenkirk would be your 2023 fourth. Or maybe we could give you OUR 2023 fourth and you could give us the Las Vegas second.

Yeah well Detroit and Buffalo are tied along with Washington for the last wild card spot in the east. Even if Detroit dropped their remaining 5 games. it doesn't mean we're sellers long ways from it.
Yzerman plans on resigning quite a few UFAs, Ones would assume Larkin, Bertuzzi, Sundqvist and Walman.

That’s a very high price to pay for a pending UFA in Soucy. I hope they would be extending him and not letting him leave if you’re going to trade that much to get him.

potential TDL options
Alex Iafallo is not available. He's one of the most underrated players in the NHL and a leader on the KIngs. Blake and the coaching staff love him, so there's no concern that he might be moved.

Rebuild Who
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TonyInBuffalo</b></div><div>I see next year as pushing for a playoff spot, but probably just missing it. Kane will be 34 in November, so give him a 2-year extension here in Buff (3-year if you need to entice him). There's no reason to believe he cant be an impact player for two more years, and I would expect to start to see a decline in that 2nd year of his extension if he decided to stay. By 2023-2024, Sabres should be in playoffs and Kane's leadership and prowess would be needed.</div></div>
I would be Ok if the Sabres signed him as a UFA for 2 years, but I still dont see a value in giving up assets to get him next season.

How to break into playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TonyInBuffalo</b></div><div>Love the Kuemper and Manson signings, both term and AAV (might need to spend more on Manson, tho). Love Copp as a player, but don't think bringing him in to block out Asplund is smart. Asplund is developing into one of the best 2-way players in the league, both facilitating offense and shutting down the opposition at 5v5 and PK.</div></div>
I dont think they actually do much of anything in FA other than address a goalie to work with upl and maybe a RD. This dude on another post said if sabres want playoffs they should go spend money in FA but theres options from within and just kinda showing that with this post. I do like the signings but i think sabres have pieces in the system and the process is working

If things dont go well this year - Rebuild
The Sabres trade is absolutely LAUGHABLE
Why on earth would they trade away what’s likely to be a high 1st round pick???
The Sabres are ALREADY in a rebuild
And a couple of average Vets certainly aren’t gonna move the needle for them cut that short
Heck, i don’t think any of these trades are going through
Teams that are rebuilding themselves aren’t gonna give up their 1st round picks
There’s just no chance

As a Jets fan I approve of that trade, would like to see it happen and think a 3rd is fair for C.Miller all things considered.
If Muzzin went for a 1st and two prospects that were 2nd round picks when drafted then H.Lindholm is going to cost more then what you have him going for here.

No one is gonna argue that Kane isn’t better. Cozens is more important long term to the Sabres. They don’t have a 2C outside of Cozens. So no, Buf shouldn’t trade Cozens
