Zero leverage isn't a thing, PLD can control part of where he goes, but not all of it. Even if he QOs for a year elsewhere or decides that he is willing to consider a long term deal other than MTL, he will receive value proportional to a rental player at a deadline.
I'd say the habs fans are more delusional than the jets fans, as per usual.</div></div>
Right, but that's all he is. A rental player. So that's a 1st and a B prospect. And I imagine other teams may treat it as a rental and ask the Jets to retain perhaps. If MTL knows he wants to come there, watch I think he does, and it's not an issue giving him the 8yrs (or they don't minding trading a 4th or whatever at the draft next yr for his rights), they should wait.

Zero chance you get that high of a pick for Debrincat, even if the team works out a contract. Also Leafs are not going to buyout Murray. It doesn't make sense. Won't be an outrageous cost to move him.

Lol what money did they take back? Are you talking about Tuch? That's one of the better contracts in the league. He's a Buffalo guy the Sabers would have insisted on. Vegas I imagine would have tried to move money elsewhere to keep him.

Hart and Konecny mega deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>smokewiseganja</b></div><div>When people include cap dump contracts in deals, you never are just paying outright to dump the contract. It's so that the other team can get more assets - Think of the Eichel deal or the orlov/hathaway deal. The flyers take Campbell (who would absolutely not cost a 1st and a 2nd to dump, are you crazy?) in order to procure some extra assets. This is just a straight futures for current players swap</div></div>
It costs the Kings 2 2nds to dump $8mil over 2yrs. It absolutely would cost Edmonton a 1st+ to dump $15million.

This is substantially less than what they got for a far worse player today. The flyers are going to ask for Bouchard. And no team is taking on that Campbell contract.

rumored return
Not all the details yet, but I love this for Philly. Get picks, take on the bad salary short-term (I don't think they are good in at least a 2yr window- they might feel otherwise), and move a guy that by all accounts they have wanted to move out of there well before the Pride night stuff and had to deal with room issues with him because they kept holding onto the potential. And maybe this is a good sign that Philly understands where they are competitive wise and are letting their GM work.

Myers after his 5 mil bonus is paid can be traded for like a 6th or a 7th and this is the route I'd say to go.</div></div>
Well because Vancouver doesn't want to be mediocre, they want to compete. But that's besides the point. The point is the Leafs have enough cap space. And no team is moving a 1st with no return just to get rid of cap.

Ideal Off-Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GladeBang12</b></div><div>It might be a little risky/experimental but it’s better than going into next season with JT as 2C. The other options are very limited. Domi has a lot of upside and really hasn’t ever been given a sustained opportunity to play between two elite players. He had a really good year in 18-19 before the habs started playing him on the wing (where he doesn’t thrive).</div></div>
It is not better than going into next season with JT at 2C. It's not ideal for JT to be a C, but if your choice is JT at C or Max Domi, it's not even a question. Even with his slow speed and subpar defense, he would be miles better at C.
I don't know how long people are going to keep citing that Domi outlier year at C. We know that's not him, and there is a reason he doesn't play C.

You could make the argument for getting Domi or not- he does give a lot of what the Leafs need- but no one can make that argument for him at 2C. Zero chance that can happen. Pack it up now.

Murray has zero impact on the Matthews extension, and Leafs have more than enough cap to sign Samsonov. They would want to move Murray because the extra cap is nice and they will not run 3 goalies, but they don't need to attach a 1st with zero return coming back because they are desperate.

They would definitely rather be out of LTIR than in it, but the cost won't be a 1st/2nd to move one yr of LTIR Muzzin. Besides this move gives them 3 goalies and they can't keep all 3. They have one has RFA I imagine they want to sign at least for a year and another that needs waivers that they probably want to keep. And though a team like them will always want cap space, they are not dying for it and they could probably move Murray somewhere else.

Call Me Crazy This is a Playoff Team Part 2
It's not even close. I guess there is always the chance Hart can be the best goalie in the league, but even then we have seen teams that have that and still miss. Couturier has to come back and be his top5 defensive C self because his LW is going to give up as much as he creates. That 2nd line is a complete liability. Honestly good luck there in the dzone. Dman 4,5, and 6 are a problem, and I think Sanheim will have a bounce back, and I like Severson, but that pair is going to make the stupidest play twice a game and Flyer fans will lose their minds.

If you don’t like him as a person that’s totally fair but the dude on the ice eats minutes and blocks shots at will. Saying he won’t improve the team is ridiculous lol</div></div>
Lol I will always be amazed that fans can spend countless hours watching the players on their teams and somehow still be so clueless. Provorov is not close to a low-end 1. Lol he has one good year. He will need to be next to a dman that will need to prop him up, and he has never shown that he can take on top comp and perform well. All that for $6.7mil? It's laughable.

If a GM thinks Provorov is going to improve any team with the opportunity cost you lose by locking yourself to that player at that salary, your GM is not a serious GM.

Why is this unrealistic? I have not read much about Hanifin and how negotiations could go, but if he tells the Flames he is not interested in signing and would likely test the market, and the Flames are set on ensuring they get some assets, this is well within range.
