<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>Trade wouldn't happen for a few reasons, but even if it did Dallas wouldn't be the team adding in the trade. Between the fact that the remainder of Seguin's deal is half as long as Jones' and the fact that he's still an extremely viable middle-6 center &amp; powerplay forward, Dallas wouldn't be the team that needs to add, much less adding Stankoven AND a 1st Round Pick.</div></div>

I wouldn't describe Seguin as "extremely viable". He is having a good start to the season following a bunch of very mediocre seasons. If we also consider his age, I'd bet he comes back down to earth long before his contract is up. That said, Seguin has all the control and I doubt he would allow this trade, I also think, considering his past, that CHI would not want to add another controversy or misconduct waiting to happen, to their roster. But, from the perspective of what DAL's speculated needs are and creating the cap space, a Jones for Seguin trade makes sense. With the firepower DAL has, they won't miss Seguin's point production at all. CHI has no reason to add in that scenario, and the fact that Seguin would, in no way, be part of CHI's future plans and is likely unflippable, makes it all the less appealing to CHI. The entire hypothetical scenario is there to address DAL's need for RHD. Also, before CHI traded for Jones, DAL was a very interested party, and it's Jones hometown.

Stankoven is definitely untouchable, though.
