Tyler Johnson has nearly as many points in 15 few games than Johansen. And Johansen was playing with far better talent in Colorado.

Well, the Rangers aren't giving up a 2nd to the Hawks along w/ Kakko to get Reichel and Johnson, so there's that. Even if you rate Reichel as equal to Kakko (he's not by the way), Johnson half retained doesn't get a 2nd. Maybe a 3rd at best. And if there is one thing the Hawks AREN'T trading a 2nd round pick for, it's another LD. If Broberg was a RD, then ok. But he's not. And Broberg isn't better than Vlasic or Korchinski. And likely not better than DelMastro, so he wouldn't be needed beyond next season.

For what it's worth, AFP Analytics has made predictions for both long term and bridge deal contracts for Vlasic. Long term they have him at $4.7M x 6 years, and short term they have him at $2.5M x 3 years. Their predictions aren't usually too far off. $6 is probably too much unless he puts up like 30 points over the remainder of the season. Personally, I wouldn't be opposed to making this bet and locking him in early, but I doubt KD does it.
However, contrary to <a href="/users/V123" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@V123</a>, the contract isn't ideal, but atrocious is way too strong of a word. Everyone is used to current AAV's, but with the Covid escrow being paid off and the cap taking big jumps over the next handful of years, players and their agents will be asking for a larger piece of the pie, and $5-6M will probably become the new $4-4.5M in the very near future.

I don’t disagree with the player to player comparison, Kaliyev may end up being better then Raddysh however, the 2nd round pick could very well end up being better then both.

Future
I know this is a “what could be” possibility type post to keep the potential in mind & not to be looking at anything specific. However 2 things spring to my mind.
1) with how Nazar is playing in the WJC , I would salivate at seeing him set up Bedard (or even Eiserman if the balls don’t pop our way again).
2) I hope Moore is given top 6 opportunities. Spending a 19th overall pick on a bottom 6 guy in a draft that good would be disappointing.
Again. I know : what if only.

I think Guttman could have a future here, think he would play well with Moore. I also think Allan has been playing his off-side a little bit more than EDM has.

Its fun to think about but why would the first place canucks trade a win now player and why would the rebuilding hawks trade a top 3 draft pick? Thats what I hate about these rumor boys. If you're going to start one, at least put a little bit of thought in and have it make sense first</div></div>
Yeah when it comes to trade rumour those guys are bozos, on the surface Petey (like many others) to Chicago to pair with Bedard is fun but its more of an NHL 24 franchise mode move tbh

Thats what i would take though, unless youre giving us Korchinski, Moore, and even more. Canucks arent just gonna trade a top 10 player for the fun of it. You have to give to get

Just playing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheMooterus</b></div><div>Trade wouldn't happen for a few reasons, but even if it did Dallas wouldn't be the team adding in the trade. Between the fact that the remainder of Seguin's deal is half as long as Jones' and the fact that he's still an extremely viable middle-6 center & powerplay forward, Dallas wouldn't be the team that needs to add, much less adding Stankoven AND a 1st Round Pick.</div></div>
I wouldn't describe Seguin as "extremely viable". He is having a good start to the season following a bunch of very mediocre seasons. If we also consider his age, I'd bet he comes back down to earth long before his contract is up. That said, Seguin has all the control and I doubt he would allow this trade, I also think, considering his past, that CHI would not want to add another controversy or misconduct waiting to happen, to their roster. But, from the perspective of what DAL's speculated needs are and creating the cap space, a Jones for Seguin trade makes sense. With the firepower DAL has, they won't miss Seguin's point production at all. CHI has no reason to add in that scenario, and the fact that Seguin would, in no way, be part of CHI's future plans and is likely unflippable, makes it all the less appealing to CHI. The entire hypothetical scenario is there to address DAL's need for RHD. Also, before CHI traded for Jones, DAL was a very interested party, and it's Jones hometown.
Stankoven is definitely untouchable, though.

Wouldn't be worth getting TK for them. I like the idea of Bunting who wants 5mx7 + the idea that EF floated: Tarasenko to Chi. That line should be able to do some damage.

Wouldn't exactly call a 32 y.o. Hall a building block. He probably doesn't waive his NMC to come to Chicago and Hawks probably don't give up two 2nd's for him anyway.

Zero chance Hawks do that for a pending UFA, even as good as Mathews is (well at least in the regular season). Murray requires a decent 2nd to dump regardless of how many times a day he gets AGM'ed to the Hawks for the privledge of moving up 6 spots in the draft. The 24 Hawk pick is likely a top 5 pick and Matthews does little to alter that. Reichel is at the least a very good middle 6 wing and easily could be a top 6 wing. Phillips is NHL ready and should have a long look this season. #19OA in this draft should be a NHL player with a decent chance of being a top 6 middle pairing player. No chance the Hawks do that

Yes, a one year rental who is probably looking for $14 mil and can't score in the playoffs is the going rate for 7 years of control of a player who has basically out performed Connor McDavid in his Junior career.
