Seattle Kraken signed Alexander Wennberg (3 Years / $4,500,000 AAV)
This would be a bad contract for almost every single team. But not for a expansion team with a lot of cap and a HUGE HOLE in center position.

Calgary Flames signed Blake Coleman (6 Years / $4,900,000 AAV)
The salary is ok, but not for such term. I'd offer 3 years at most for such salary. To sign for 6 years, I'd offer less than 4M. 3.5 would be nice. Not a good contract.

Everything here works for Pens. Salary and term. Rodrigues is a useful depth player. I like it.

Edmonton Oilers signed Zach Hyman (7 Years / $5,500,000 AAV)
The term is just TERRIBLE! Poor McDavid and Draisaitl. Ken Holland will never give them a chance to win a cup. One of the worst GMs of the league. No-brainer to me.

Washington Capitals signed Alex Ovechkin (5 Years / $9,500,000 AAV)
Is Ovechkin the best pure scorer of the NHL history? Yes. Is he the face of the franchise in Washington? No-brainer. Is he want to break Gretzky goal scoring record? Absolutely. But all those things don't change one fact: this is a REALLY BAD CONTRACT. He will carry 9.5M till 40 and I can bet with everyone that HE WILL NOT SCORE THE SAME NUMBER OF GOALS THAT HE DOES TODAY. Anyway, I can understand doing whataver it takes to bring Ovechkin back. Maybe HE could accept sign for less to give his team an opportunity to sign more good player to win another cup. But, I think he knows what's better for him and I respect his decision to ask for what he thinks he worths it.

Vancouver are doing right. They're getting rid of the bad contracts to have cap space to sign good ones, like this. As for every good Arizona player, Garland is underrated and a very good acquisition by Canucks. Nice job. I'd like to see Vancouver competitive like they were back in Sedin's time. We'll see...

Yeah, I just saw it. Goodrow is a good player. But this contract is terrible. Specially the term. But Rangers probably did it, because they intend to trade a player like Buchnevich, Strome and/or Chytil to bring Eichel. That's what I think.

Poor Carolina fans here. Not even the EA Sports NHL GMs are that stupid enough to accept a trade like that. Sometimes, I think that I should get an opportunity to be a GM in NHL. Probably I wouldn't be as good as Yzerman. But I'm sure that I'd be better than most of them.

Most of NHL GMs are losing their minds. We're in a cap flat situation and they're spending money like there's no cap at all in the league. I'd like to be a GM in NHL, nowadays. I'm sure that I would be considered a very reasonable one compared to most of those lunatics guys.

Replacing Tanev signing Danault
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Poehling</b></div><div>Ok I think you really don’t get it
Danault wants to stay in MTL
Bergevin offered him 7 years 4M AAV
Or
6 years 5M AAV
Danault side took those deals as a joke and someone else will pay more than that
So the offer of 5M have already been declined
So you need to start at 5.5M for 6 years minimum
Otherwise don’t sign him and let someone else overpay</div></div>
I get it. It makes sense. So, if he really want to stay in Montreal, so be it and let's move on. Pens will have to find another alternative to Tanev. It won't be easy. That's for sure. A player that I like so much is Blake Coleman. But I think he'll be one of those which will be overpayment. He'll probably get something about 4.5M, 5M for about 5 years. I don't want him for such bad contract. I think the GMs should be smarter, specially in flat cap situation and be more cautious offering contracts. Then, we'll have much less overpayments in FA. Almost everyone talked about Brandon Tanev's contract. But I think we'll see contracts much worse than his in this FA. Especially because of Seattle.

Too easy, trade Crosby vs McDavid because you think Crosby is better … even if it’s not true and McDavid have way more value than Sid</div></div>
I raise his salary to 3.75M. That's the higher price that I think Pens should offer to him. As I said, no team should pay him more than 4M. Specially because of the lack of his production in playoffs. But it's probable that you guys are right and one team will overpay him.

He'll just get more than 4M if one team are stupid enough to pay him that much. The player and his agent can ask whatever they want to, if there's no team willing to pay, he'll have to sign for less. But, I won't be surprise if some stupid GM overpay him and pay 5M or even more. We've seen this every single season. We'll see...

Well, if any team gives him that much, it will be a TERRIBLE contract. He's not that good at all. He doesn't bring that much offensively to be paid like that. To me, he doesn't worth more than 3.5M. 4M, if the team have much cap space.

Not as bad as seems when Pens signed him. He was a pretty important part of our team. If you ask to another Pens fans, you'll see that's a lot of them which is mourning his leaving. I'd prefer to lose Pettersson or Zucker.

OMG, Sheary has a bad agent. He deserved something between 2M and 2.5M. He's been playing better than I expected for Washington. And he probably would get it in FA. Great deal for Washington. The most impressive thing is the same GM which made this great deal is the one which made THE WORST TRADE IN MANY YEARS to get Mantha. And he did it in just few days.

Desperte? No way. Blueger is playing VERY WELL. Of course Carter help us giving Pens some depth score and experience, but have Blueger as our 3rd line Center was not even close to a problem. Anyway, I liked the trade.
