I don’t see the Jets moving Pionk, DeMelo on the other hand could possibly get traded. I don’t know what the Jets would want exactly but the offer would definitely have to blow Chevy away in order for them to move him. Those two are the only right handed defensemen the Jets have right now so they most likely aren’t going anywhere.

Holy overpay. Avs decline. 2 yrs of Scheifele does not net a 24 year old top 4 d with term, the Avs top D prospect, the Avs top forward prospect, and two firsts.

Just based on the composition of the package I think the jets say no. I think the value is great, or even an overpay but it doesn’t solve any organizational needs for the jets. I think this offer gets beat out by a team with a better fit package.
You’re sending a good top 4 LD in Girard, when the jets already are log jammed at that position and don’t need another small dman. As well as a smaller LHD prospect. Olausson is definitely an intriguing piece but he’s a left shot winger which the jets have a plethora of. The 1sts are always nice. I’m just not sure the jets say yes as they’re adding to a number of already stocked positions.

Puljujarvi
Can we do Harkins and Stanley for Puljujarvi and a 4th or something? If not switch the second to a third. I wouldn't mind Jesse on the team, and Harkins is one of those poor development victims of the last few years and hasn't looked like a permanent fixture in the lineup.

Puljujarvi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>betahuman</b></div><div>I'd trade Dillon and replace him by Samberg in the lineup. Stanley should go as well, Chisholm as 7th dman. A lot more depth is needed in offense, Toninato should be replaced. I would love Puljujarvi in the Jets uniform though, he is a younger version of Nichuskin. Also I don't really see this team performing unless Scheifele is being moved for a rational return</div></div>
As much as I love Dillon, I feel like he would get the best return and easiest to replace (Samberg). I have no desire to keep Stanley unless he's a 7th defenceman but knowing the Jets he'll be playing next year. I'd give Puljujarvi a shot for sure and agree with Toninato, he can easily be replaced. The only thing I'll disagree with is I want to keep Scheifele around for at least one more season. Let's see who our new coach is and go from there. Obviously is the struggles continue, move him at the deadline or next offseason.

Not replacement level ones. Healthy scratch level players are easy to find in-house.

BLOW OUT in the peg
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Are you sure you know what "rental" means in hockey terms?</div></div>
Yeah, both Wheeler and Scheifele have 2 years left on their deals. The Sabres are prob more than 2 years away from making a decent run. So they are 2 year rentals and the sabres would be giving up several years of control from young talented players to get two guys who won't be enough to get them over the edge.

Honestly Trotz isn't a good fit for this group and then he's eventually in management drafting a bunch more Stanley's and Komarov's, no thanks!

I agree but we can’t keep these two in the minors forever and we need to clear up some cap space. Samberg had a good end to the season and played really well with Pionk. Heinola has been NHL ready for at least a year but he hasn’t been given a chance yet because of Stanley.

Yeah I agree, just didn't make sense to me, the path seemed so obvious, make Kadri the 2C, find a 3C to replace Bozak and spend some cap space on a legit top 4 dman, the Tavares signing took away so much maneuverability.

For the Leafs Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>The problem with goalies is you just don't know for sure. Halleybuck certainly hasn't been top 3 the past 2 seasons. Really he had 1 season of being one of the best and the rest has been inconsistent. It's almost impossible to guess who will be the top 3 goalies from year to year. Vasi and Shesterkin are the top 2. Nashville's goalie was crazy good this year as well. But who will replicate it? Lost of goalies fade quick it seems. It's why they just don't get the return of forwards or defenceman</div></div>
These are the defensemen (Ranked in games played) that played for the 19-20 season which he won the Vezina, and the 20-21 season in which he got snubbed as he had the highest GSAx and xGA.
19-20: Pionk, Morrissey, DeMelo, Poolman, Bitetto, Kulikov, Sbisa, Beaulieu, Niku, Dalhstrom, Heinola
20-21: Morrissey, Forbort, Pionk, DeMelo, Poolman, Benn, Stanley, Beaulieu, Niku, Heinola
So he not only played in front of Charlie Huddy's 80's Oilers system but also in front of top pairing defensemen Tucker Poolman and Nathan Beaulieu.
I always say, if you put Hellebuyck on Tampa Bay that he would put up a better SV% then Vasy.

And not many players ignore defensive play the way Scheifele does. I’m talking about his game. Not just goal scoring. But while we’re on the topic….
In terms of how many players put up points the way he does, kind of a lot do. 49 to be exact, as he was 50th in scoring this season. 52nd in goal scoring. 104th in points per 60 (minimum 20 games).
He’s a good player for sure, but he’s not the kind of guy that’s going to get an unprecedented return like vader was suggesting. He’ll get a first, a solid prospect, and a kicker, just like everyone else of his ilk.

Trade Heinola to NYR for Lundkvist
Schmidt to DET for a 3rd opens up a spot for Carlo, giving us a D of,
Morrissey - Carlo
Samberg - Pionk

Show me a trade in the last 20 years that was for a teams first, top prospect, and a 25 year old top four d man signed for 5 years at a good number.

I don't know. Maybe Dubois improves more under a better coach and system, though if Scheifele is moved then Dubois will see tougher defensive matchups compared to now.
